Angelina is a typical 8-year-old Norwegian girl who understands English and speaks with just a hint of a British accent. Then she takes the stage. In a split second, she becomes this 30-year-old professional jazz singer with a completely different American voice, confident and relaxed, and delivers the song with precise timing, perfect pitch, and much emotion. She has arranged the song so that it starts out slowly, switches to jazz/blues, and gently builds in tempo, amplitude, and pitch to the finale (where she very unusually ran out of air). It is over and again, in a split second, she is the little eight-year-old again. There is no explaining that. She says that when she sings, she goes to a really nice place where she feels good. There really is a homemade video of a few seconds of Angelina at age 1-1/2 with a toy microphone in her hand singing the Whitney Houston song "I Will Always Love You." From age 7, when she first auditioned for Norway's Got Talent, to the present 16 years old, she has steadily increased her prowess as a vocal artist until her age is irrelevant. She is now a world-class star. And humble, and kind, and a bit shy. Her contract with Republic Records should bring her international acclaim.

My favorites of this song from Angelina are from when she sang for Quincy Jones at 12 , and at 11 recording for her album.

You definitely get it Jay. I wish you continued success. Always the prepared artist, when Angelina does have a hiccup, she is able to immediately move on (an example of this was at Alan Walker's concert, her voice cracked noticeably (she had a cold but insisted on singing). She didn't even blink. She was 10. It's as if she realizes that people aren't robots, and these things happen. I know that I could not fully get into that mindset.

It's really great to compare this with the she sung at the O2 Arena for Quincy Jones .

No matter how many times I hear her sing any song, she's always able to coax a tear from my eyes. She wouldn't know me from Adam, but I always feel a sense of pride, like a proud Grandpa, when people react to her videos.

Wonderfully done Jay. Rosie says "In America we love 8 year olds that can sing" ....kind of funny given that there are no 8 year olds singing jazz that I ever heard like this child. Loved it and thanks for sharing this golden gem with us. Stay well.

Always good to remind everyone *why Angelina always performs barefoot*. At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East.
