    Great race. Willard was owning this seed like I've never seen before... until the last choice between GT and the bat. Damn.

    *SPOILERS* ... What a great run. Willard played really well and had some insanely good luck but Andy still kept up with him just through sheer consistency and execution. It would have been neck-and-neck if Willard didn't get burned by the Mire BK. GGs to both runners, but I'm rooting for Andy to win it all

    I loved watching this race. It was a nail biter until that magic bat play happened. I was really happy to hear the post-game analysis from the players. The shorthand banter and hindsight thoughts really shows how much logic has to go into this type of game play at this level. GG's to both.

    Semi Spoiler: Eric Gassman the way the commentators focused on Willard you could tell they were rooting for him the whole time. Then when Andy found the Mire Key the talk died away nearly completely. I guess knowing Andy is such a machine must frustrate a lot of people in the community during these tournaments.

    @@cameronsenek5575 Oh I fully agree. That;s too bad tho. Andy is a great player and there should be no bias when commentating. But oh well just found it funny.

    Eric Gassman I agree. I really enjoyed Wilber’s gameplay. He was incredible! No reason to find bias in two Titans such as this. It made it so fun to watch.

    @@cameronsenek5575 I commonly joke that Andy never loses. While not totally true, it's very, very rare that he does, and I can understand if people are frustrated with having a nigh-guaranteed outcome, barring incredibly bad luck on Andy's part. Buuuut commentators shouldn't have that level of beef. It's a buzz kill and is a bit disrespectful, honestly.

    If Willard checked Magic Bat first, he wouldn't have had to do Ganon's Tower and that shot him on the foot.

    What's with the casters' prejudice against Andy? It wasn't like they were rooting for Willard and simply became disappointed when he fell behind, they seemed genuinely disgusted by Andy when he turned it around. I don't watch a ton of these, so I gotta know, is it normal in this community for commentators to vocally root against a runner in the finals of a tournament?

    I don't watch a ton of thes, but I enjoy the commentary on top of watching one of my favorite games being played. I've recently found randomizer and have been watching a ton of these and OoT. Quick question, how do they decide which audio to go with? Like this case they nused the audio from Bradley?

  • @Claymore729

    If both sets of audio are usable (no mic, no alerts, levels are good), it's basically just up to the volunteers to pick an audio stream. I know that in the four-man dailies, we'll use the audio of whoever's in the lead (if we can tell).

    Spoilers obviously. Andy took a lot of deaths compared to Willard. Willard did so well the entire time, but yet even if he did get the Mire Key before going to GT, it would have still been a close race. I don't know how Andy managed to keep up. Though Andy had a masterful GT and some clutch low-health kills, I think he would have pulled ahead either way.

    I've noticed a lot of gambling on locations after an hour and a half against Andy. It's refreshing to see a runner pick a route and ride it to the end.

  • @ModernArtery

    @ModernArtery

    I've noticed that also. It's probably a combination of a run of good luck by Andy, plus the fact that he's very consistent, and has a reputation as a very strong runner so his opponents are more likely to gamble against him than they might against another opponent. *SPOILER* In the Twitch VOD, after this run, Andy joins Twitch chat and talks a little bit about Willard's decision at the end of this run. There's a pretty good discussion that I'd recommend taking a look at if that sort of decision making interests you. Andy basically says he thinks it's usually correct to make the remaining overworld checks before diving GT. But he did say that it is a tough call. Others in chat pointed out that you can often "gamble" and save the ~45 seconds and be fine most of the time. But when it doesn't work out it's basically an auto-loss, and since the 45 seconds you could gain, while nice, won't be the deciding factor in most races (though it definitely could be the difference maker), they concluded that -- in the situation here, where you're one item away from Go Mode, and have just a couple obvious overworld checks to make -- it's probably best to just take the safer option and do the overworld checks before committing to a full GT clear, since full-clear GT vs Go Mode GT is a huge difference.
