Excellent! An honest human who is also a Rock n Roll legend. Love Hanoi Rocks. Andy has a lot in common with Lemmy...honest and genuine and not stuck up.
Really appreciate that you do these interviews Jason! You should try to get an interview with Stevie Klasson, Johnny Thunders swedish guitarist. He is a lost gem with great stories.
I love what Andy McCoy said, “Don’t make me bigger than life because I ain’t”-that should be a quote. I just happened to find your channel, Jason. Thanks for this very pleasant surprise of a great interview with Andy. Although I would have liked to have heard him say something about coming to NYC for shows, this was great to listen to. I appreciated his no nonsense point of view. Thanks again!

“Two Steps From The Move”, my favorite Hanoi Rocks album. Their version of “Up around the bend” kicks butt, but I love Andy’s guitar work on “Underwater World”, “High school” and a bunch of other songs. I hope “Razzle” is resting in peace. Great guest for your show Jason ! 👍👍👍🤟🤟🤟

Thanks for the interviews...will love one with Tyla of Dogs D'amour
The stories Andy could tell 🔥
This was indeed a pleasant surprise as I was fearing for the worst, for Andy's part, that is. He's unbelievable. Every time you think now he's totally done and that his demons have finally prevailed, he somehow surfaces again and surprises you once more. I came to think of his lyric line from Born Again Electric: "Welcome me back again, ladies and gentlemen, I'm back, new and so improved". He's indeed a real amalgamation of buoyance and flamboyance. I truly hope he makes those US dates, and doesn't pop the cork too early in the morning. 😀 Go Andy, your talent is overflowing! 🎸

Thank you for bringing up Razzle's family as well as the other innocent victims. I can still remember that POS bragging about how he was still drinking after his RADD commercial and like someone mentioned below he has continued to get DUI's. It's a shame he's still allowed to make $ for himself and that he basically got away w/ a slap on the wrist for what he chose to do.
I saw Andy playing in Iggy's band back in 1988. He was great and did great renditions of Iggy's tunes. Then 4 years later with Shooting Gallery opening for Kiss. Unfortunately, they got booed off the stage. Kiss fans weren't having it.

Best interview ever.
I REFUSE TO GO TO THE MOTLEY CRUE TOUR!!! I WOULD RATHER SEE HANOI ROCKS, PLEASE COME TO NASHVILLE, TN USA
I saw Andy when he was playing for Iggy Pop, in the 80s, (82?, 84?) it was at The Channel in Boston, great show, but Iggy wasn’t very impressed with the crowd! I remember him saying, “I’m giving you all that I have!” The show was pro-recorded and released, I found a copy on cassette tape in Toronto, Canada, a couple of years later, I had no idea it was being recorded! Then, a couple of years later, Iggy was doing an interview at the Hard Rock Cafe, in the Sky Dome in Toronto, and I grabbed all of my Iggy cassettes, (about 10) and went down there with my wife, and I was talking to him before the interview, (he only had his manager/assistant with him) and he signed all of them, and even did a little drawing on a couple! On the Lust For Life cover, he drew glasses on his face, to make himself look goofy! 😜
Class!

Have only seen Andy McCoy and Nasty Suicide live in Cherry Bombz. The other members were Terry Chimes, Dave Tregunna and Anita Chellamah. Great concert even though they had to place Nasty leaning against a pillar because he was drunk. We actually wondered why Andy McCoy came out before the concert and collected his own guitars and after a while came back on stage with them and then collected Nasty's. We found out why when the concert started. Nasty was bombed but somehow played the concert

What an absolutely top video. Good on Jason for this marvellous 'view. Surely we have to remember Andy is a moody man but also a genius and to get him in the right mood is an achievement. So glad you were able to talk to Sami, Andy and (the coolest) Nasty! It doesn't look like you were able to talk to Michael??? I'm just now seeing your channel. I've been an HUGE Hanoi fan since that time Michael Monroe went on Headbangers Ball to promote Not Fakin' It. That's when I first heard of Hanoi Rocks....so 1990? 1991?? I was about 11 years old lol. Anyway, I love that you were lucky enough to talk to them. I watched your Nasty interview earlier, just finished watching Sami's. Now this. Hopefully I can find something with Michael. But I guess I can understand. Yeah, love him or hate him....Andy was vital to Hanoi Rocks and he was and IS amazingly talented. Not all artists are super chill and that fireccracker personality is what keeps a lot of them going artistically (Andy, Axl Rose, Roger Waters come to mind....) and if they were any different then it wouldn't have been the same, that thing that made us all love them musically, visually, artistically, etc in the first place. So Andy is Andy, but an integeral component that MADE Hanoi. The obvious drama within the band....only THEY know all the juicy details and really, that's none of OUR business. I really love that you asked those curious questions but knew when to back off when they weren't comfortable answering, so much respect to you. Hanoi Rocks is a LEGEND with no end! Andy reminds me of my older brother so his personality really doesn't shock me. The world would be boring if we all acted the same exact way. Anyhoo, thank you for sharing all this with us!

@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen Oh my gosh, that's AWESOME!! Like I said I didn't even know about your channel until this morning when I was just looking for Hanoi stuff, anything remotely recent, or new info. I will watch that right after this. Again, this band was incredibly special to me when I was 11 and now at 44, I can't tell you how happy I am that you were able to talk to them all for a good length of time. I was always curious of how their perspectives would all sound together, but individually. Anyway, thanks again for doing this. You did a kickass job with how you conducted these interviews and I really appreciate you doing it. Oh, one more thing - thank you for mentioning the two folks who were injured in that accident that no one ever seems to really mention. And the fact that Andy felt the same about that gave me a fresh sense of respect for him. Because no one ever DOES tal about them or mention how they were changed forever also. Anyway, thank you thank you!
Read the book by alvin gibbs about the iggy tour 86 87 andy in the band, so many great andy stories there
Hanoi Rocks will perform in Helsinki 23th September 2022 as a part of Michael Monroe’s 60th year celebration consert.
With all the respect, Andy does not have a biological or adopted daughter. He´s (propably) talking about Sofia Zida, who does not have any biological relations to Andy what so ever. They might think of each other as father and daughter, but that,s not the case, if the truth should be told. I just thought this was something to point out, especially because Andy seems to be so honest about everything. And if he did not mean to lie, you can very clearly tell that Andy was not very keen to correct. So, that´s basically a lie right there. Anyways, HUGE fan of Andy´s work and have mad respect for him as an artist. Just do not think he is as honest as he might like to think he is. Great interview!!
richard petty cowboy hats and andy mccoy hats the 2 best celebrity hat makers
Nice Interview, i think Hanoi comes never together, i saw Hanoi in Stuttgart on the first revival Tour, i think 2005,at the first song Andy and Michael had trouble, Andy was leaving the stage and come back at the 3. song, they played a powerfull gig, after the show Michel and Andy gave autographs and where peaceful 🎙☠🎸♠️. Back to mystery city and all those wasted years are the Hanoi masterpieces for me and cooler as all those Mötleys Hollywood crap
they will play together in Helsinki This year,
Mötley was not influenced by Hanoi. Too fast for love came out late 81. Hanoi had their first album same year and were not internationally known. And I like Hanoi Rocks.
He could be Keith Richards’ younger brother!🤣👍🏼 (And throw in Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, as the youngest brother!) That would be hilarious to see a “family gathering,” (Maybe Thanksgiving?!🤪) They could write a script, about the 3 brothers, who all left home, estranged from their parents, (and each other!) and they all agree to come home to make the parents happy, because they don’t have much time left! Put some good writers on it and I guarantee they will create a cult classic!!!😂👍🏼
A pretty good source tells me Andy didn't just get bored with the US. Apparently he got busted for check fraud and was deported back to Finland some time in the 90's. The career was presumably not going well at that point or perhaps he just maintained a high cost of living, so to speak. Btw, would it be funny if Andy's feed didn't actually freeze and he just sat really, really still. You know as in the ending credits of Police Squad,

@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen If it's viable, curious what his take was on why Hanoi albums aside from Two Steps, all guitars sounded like garbage, almost no distortion. Also what was with album cover for Mystery City and lyrics for Lost in the City among other fruity things. Someone could take the best songs from Hanoi's first 4, rework them, good sounding guitars/drums and have 1 decent album. They had something but seems like Andy's songwriting got in the way when others' could've had more input. Not Fakin It eclipses the entire catalog.

What exactly is the legal issue - i’m guessing it’s some kind of entry ban to the US? Is it just for Andy and what did cause it?
@evangeline77x
9 ай бұрын
Neither Andy or Nasty can currently enter the US. Nasty got in trouble for playing gigs on a tourist visa and was either deported or denied reentry and hasn't been able to get a visa to come back ever since. Andy's situation is a little more complicated, a lot of people seem to believe the story Andy told in the Bam Margera film where he talks about "counterfeit money" (if you don't know the story in the film he claimed to have bounced 90k worth of personal checks in LA), but I think that was probably Andy just being extra for the sake of a good story. Also, that film is entirely a work of very loosely scripted fiction, lol.. The most likely cause is probably Andy's criminal record in Finland, coupled with his reputation, that have him on the visa black list. Sort of like what happened to Pete Dougherty in the early/mid 00s when he was very publicly detained and denied entry at JFK.
