I’ve seen him give this same lecture a few times now. Every time I watch it I’m amazed that he’s able to briefly describe every major topic of modern physics, then within the same lecture describe the edge of humanities understanding of the universe. Without a doubt, he is one of the smartest people on the planet. He understands the equations, the physical implications of the equations, the history of how these phenomena were discovered, and he can elegantly communicate his knowledge in a way the average person can understand.

This is a really wonderful, nuanced little talk on something very complex and not well understood. I really liked it.

The transition of magnetic structures inside heavy atoms under extreme gravity at the black-hole's horizon may make skyrmions with spinning pointing to the center -1. Do this spinning behavior make skyrmions extremely stable and slippery? Please talk about the relation between black hole and skyrmions.

Is gravity just the absence of empty space? A bit like the Casimir effect, empty space applies some pressure against space that isn't empty, and mass (or energy) takes up space. Does the presence of mass or energy also distort quantum fields (space-time), in a similar way to trying to force a ball into a flexible grid of holes, with the distortion getting less with distance? That would be like minute changes in planck's constant (lower nearer the mass/energy). Planck's constant seems to appear everywhere, so if it changed, would have quite an effect (apart from no longer being a constant).

Neutron decay cosmology. Black holes are pressure release valves for universe. Maintaining thermodynamic flow and equilibrium. Conservation. The neutrons which invert at moment of neutron star collapse into black hole are transported from highest energy density conditions to lowest energy density points of space, deep voids. There they travel 14ish light minutes before they decay into amorphous atomic hydrogen. This decay process includes a volume increase of 10^14 times. This is expansion. This process is how Lambda is kept in balance. The amorphous atomic hydrogen has no proper orbital electron so cannot emit or absorb photons. This is part of dark matter. From here it follows usual evolution. Time is a compact dimension one single Planck second long and every point shares this dimension. We exist on one side of hyperplane created by this shared moment of NOW and antimatter is on other side, rotating the other direction over time. This is why baryon asymmetry. This is why chirality. Is this why electron has 1/2 spin? 360 on matter side then 360 on antimatter side? An inflow on this side is an outflow from the other side. Clockwise away here is counterclockwise towards there. This way at every moment the universe requires least energy. Inflow/divergence=negative charge (arbitrary convention notwithstanding) and outflow/convergence=positive charge. This is why the fundamental mass particle is positive charge. Gravity is also a convergence. Happy Holidays!

Black holes are both QM and classical objects, just like photosynthesis and tunneling, produce food for all plants, or how a robin uses entanglement to navigate while migrating. What is a challenge for physicists is to explain where does the mass reside and how does it spin and as matter falls into it how matter is spit out the poles as jets of particles (and possibly strings) accompanied by magnetic fields. In that, spin, mass and charge are not the only things we find on a BH. True, the BH inherits 'complexity' and may act as a QC function, involving entanglement, somehow. Besides the super conducting holographic surface (resulting from circulating charges), where information (energy and hence mass) is stored as strings (hairs), the various magnetic fields can simulate motor action, explaining spin of o.9c.

the singularity is "nothing." But that doesn't happen at the event horizon does it? iT seems that at the event horizon i would not see it especially if I am spinning in faster and faster... your event horizon would move from my perspective. as the force spins the matter faster and faster it bumps and resonates and interferes as it gets denser and denser towards the singularity. eventually as dense as the protron star is... and spinning at the speed of light like a gas and the centrifugal force keeping some matter from entering the singularity. all this dancing and interaction has your Hawking answers... and .. Is there a limit to the amount of matter that can enter a singularity at one time? Can the entire universe enter a singularity at once? I think there must be a limit... anyway depending on how the mass comes together to form the black hole will determine how much matter is spinning and bumping and trying to enter the singularity. so if I am wrong, why is the black hole "nothing" beneath the event horizon? how does the spinning stop? joel

Imo a blackhole once fed enough and spinning stops becomes a whitehole creating a 'bigbang' on another side of spacetime.... consciousness and the infinite potential of spacetimes unified field can only be made by the magic of a singularity....taking particles/information and creating something utterly different with the properties of ALL......rolled into one....Dark matter!!

why black holes have different sizes if there's nothing inside them? or why they have different masses if they're not made of matter?

It is necessary to understand that a black hole is not even a physical entity like the rest of objects that exist in the universe. They are not physical entities because they're not made of physical matter, as you pointed. Matter, when falling inside what we call a black hole, gets completely destroyed, therefore there can never be a single subatomic particle left inside any black hole in the whole universe. But its mass is still there and so is added to the mass of this infinitely dense location in spacetime in the center of the black hole. That location is called a singularity. So the size of the black hole depends on the amount of mass contained in the singularity. I hope it helps.

Black holes are based on the current solar model, and that solar model is incorrect. Start doing some real ongoing research and your findings will be vast. Egos aside and minds open.... try it sometime.

black holes are based in a FLAT SPACE I think, space is HEXAGONAL CONE SHAPED, I see it in the snow flakes that are molded in space, the sun, galaxies, streets lights etc. the solar system entangles the rocky ones with the gaseous as folows MERCURY WITH NEPTUNE, VENUS IS PAIR OF URANUS, EARTHS PAIR IS SATURN and MARS BELONGS TO JUPITER. WITH ENTANGLEMENT is how the systems stay togather same as stars, galaxies etc.

GRAVITY is a very weak force; see it this way all systems are atracted by ENTANGLEMENT, the north side atracts to the north side keeping the systems togather, we float in the disk and the disc is made by very strong polaritys(positive and negative) that encounter at the center of the sun, wene they smash they dont spark at the instant but they do almost at the outer edge of the sun, by smashing togather they create a disc that acts as a neutral and is able to separate north from south, here is where gravity( CMB to me) is the one that keeps the balance from up the neutral is positive and from down the disc is negative, this 2 sides of CMB atracts each other but cant mix cause the neutral(disc) dont let them, apart from it matter(CMB) follows atomic weight and is imposible that north side mixes with south side naturaly, this small particles are entangled still, so CMB STABILIZES THE SYSTEMS and acts as a CENTRIPET FORCE to any matter that is in between it vicected by it that is why astronauts float in space that is not that empty cause is fill with the CMB that to me is cold light. LIGHT WAVES ON ITS OWN BY BEEN HOT AND COLD: hot is whene its emited by the systems: atoms, stars, galaxies etc. that comes back whene it goes up and is returned by the bridges(electromagnetism) that are made by the colors, see: NEW EYES ON SPACE: JAMES WEBB TELESCOPE DR. MICHEL RESTTLER, is a picture of a NEBULA, in it at the center you can see A SPHERE(WHITE COLOR) that is the union of the thre colors(from out red, yellow and blue) that are to the left and to the right as well, one side is positive and oposses less resistance than south side that is a bit stronger than north in all systems; you can see the bridges by a shadow that they make same form as THE PILARS OF CREATION that they are the same but in a mach, much bigger system, the first shadow is from white(the center) of the nebulae to the blue in ither side, next one is from blue to yellow and the next one is from yellow to red, the colors are distorted by the light of the systems arround like the one in the back of the picture but if you have a good eye you can see some of this 3 colors inside the nebulae, as you see we have 7 colors so is the same in my video called: THE FLOWER OF LIFE OR DNA DECODED, that is the one in the one i stand on to say all that i told you chck it out then you tell me I HOPE FOR SOME FEED BACK from you body.

There doesn't need to be an explanation, it is simply an empirical observation and is taken as a postulate in the special theory of relativity. We know special relativity is correct from countless experimental confirmations, and the speed of light being the same in all reference frames is taken as a fundamental assumption, so we conclude that it is simply a real physical aspect of the universe and there is, at least currently, no deeper explanation. At some point, we are forced to accept that there is an inherent mystery to the universe and some physical aspects of it cannot be described any more deeply regarding why it is the way it is.

@@Les537 if i had the money I WOULD PUBLISHED BY NOW BUT RATHER i have spread it all over like in here and i just love to get feed back and some times some bright ideas come from my burned brain, that still is slow like a turtle but had the time to do some ease math. dont know mch of formulas not even the ones i did my self, in this case i see that my numbers fit the small and the big and has every thing it needs to move the systems as ROCKY COLB explaines what the system whatever must to have and the TZOLKIN calendar(broken light) has and there is the not broken system iam like nike past tense and like sinatra i did it my way. i say so for the numbers bady nothing else.

And what new have we learned from this? Nothing...
