ANDRE WARD DESCRIBES WHAT IT'S LIKE TO FIGHT A HEAVYWEIGHT; EXPLAINS WHY "IT'S FUN"

Спорт

"The heavyweight division is on fire right now...it's cool I can just sit back and watch...you gotta respect everybody...some guys might make it look flashier...some guys look like it's a little bit harder...but they're at that level for a reason...I trust my eye...they all got different skill sets...I've always done well against bigger men," stated future Hall of Famer Andre Ward, who shared his thoughts on the skill level in the heavyweight division. Check it out!

Ward is a fantastic boxer & Champion and I've got huuuuge respect for the man but, if he was to fight a big strong heavyweight like Anthony Joshua, Wilder or Tyson Fury it would end extremely badly for Andre! We're talking basic physics here - the difference between a 175lb Kovalev and 240lb big heavyweights is night and day. I can see Adre doing well at cruiserweight but, if he wants to remember the name of his wife and children 10 - 15 years from now he needs to forget ANY notion of fighting elite heavyweights!

  • @dylanmoran1901

The top heavyweights out there right now rely solely on their size and power, they have very poor boxing skills. The sports referred to as the sweet science for a reason. Don't take this as me saying they cant hurt him, but I'd have a hard time seeing any of them keeping up with him. So if Ward says he can handle it, believe him.

There are weight categories for a reason - he moved up to 176 and looked good but modern heavyweights are usually 240 plus - if Andre Ward came in weighing 201lbs the extra weight would slow him down and sap his stamina - and considering that he wasn't known as a big puncher at 168 or 176 his power wouldn't be anywhere near enough to keep anyone in the heavyweight division honest... if he's even thinking about having a go at heavyweight he should stay retired...

Luis Ortiz's Zimmer Frame -James toney came up from middleweight, mostly fat and dominated an admittidley aged holyfield, ward not having power is silly, same as mayweather, they are both guys that do not fire off alot of shots and are saftey first, but kovalevs chicken dance from wards right hand suggests he has alot more power than advertised, note, ward is left handed and is not known for having a right hand.

Kovalev had plenty of chances to be the krusher but he couldn't krush ward instead ward krushed him lol...it's No excuses, ward took kovalev belts then gave him a rematch and won again.if they fought 20 times ward wins all 20. How is ward a weight bully when he went up in weight, being a weight bully mean fighting naturally smaller men only and you are incorrect about that.

Actually Ward looked small to a lot of his opponents at cruiser and LH but he use to walk around between 190/ 200lbs and said he was way more comfortable at 175 Light/ heavy bc he could eat decent meals. He really had to watch his diet fighting at 168. He could definitely make heavyweight but those Dudes have 5, 6 inches on him and insane Power, but Ward’s Defense and Ring IQ is Incredible.

He’s just such a knowledgeable and intelligent fighter. His feet and defence against outside, longer fighters was so stylish but his ability to adapt to pressure fighters and punchers was what ensured victory - land and hold just exhausted guys like Kovalev… people will always say he ran the line between cheating but he seemed to always win how he needed to. That would be really unpopular if he wasn’t such a good wholesome bloke the rest of the time. Oh and on behalf of the UK, thank you so much for always putting that plonker Froch back in his box!!

The fact that Holyfield was smaller is the very reason why he was so successful. He had a great balance to his body type as far as power and speed went. Plus he was extremely durable. But I see where you're coming from. Never doubt a man of Wards caliber because he truly believe that he can do anything and he can given his mentality which is where things that come to fruition starts. With belief. I think that he would do well if he does it the right way.

Just stay away from AJ. Ward is a great one but I saw AJ get hit by a punch from Klitschko that would Ko most guys and he got up shook it off and retired KLITSCHKO. Ward is not stronger than Klitschko I will leave it like that.

there's at least 3 guys fighting at Cruiser that would push Ward well to his limit. Usyk more than likely batters Ward, too big plus skilfulAndre Ward - what a waste of talent. Aside from physical injuries it seemed his ego just got in the way of what should been a career full of fighting top level guys; but he wanted money in line with his talent rather than his crowd appeal, which was minimalThe guy just couldn't carry a card. He needed to find some way to sell himself to the masses. Floyd for all his talent and success from 130-140, couldn't sell a ppv event, so he got himself a marketing team and abracadabra Pretty Boy became Money and that whole hip hop side of the business, until then unexplored, was tapped into Andre Ward was/is great but of his 32 fights he only fought 6 guys (7fights) that could be considered anywhere near top level. That's 6 guys who once held, held, or would hold, a title. Of Floyds 50 fights nearly half - 24 - were vs top level guysMoney May was born shortly before Floyd took his 2 years recovery break - in that time he really pushed the Money Mayweather persona. If Ward wants to come back and get anything like the money his talent deserves then he has to come up with a gimmick
