How does a 10 yr old sound like a grown adult? This young lady is phenomonal.

":Cute" is such a childish putdown for this marvelously mature vocal artist!!

There is a lot that is amazing about Amira but to realize that she did this level of performance, on that stage with that orchestra behind her a world famous conductor and an audience of ten thousand people which she brought to a standing ovation at just ten years of age. At ten she owns that stage and still does.

Not so!! Before her Semi Final she had instruction from the Hollands Got Talent staff on breath control (no such thing as "Dutch the Voice") and a Master's Class from Andre Rieu.

As for what to react to next, there are so many performances that are absolutely amazing. Pick one, you can’t go wrong with Amira.

Last year, following a short concert in a church, she asked the audience what they wanted her to sing. O mio babbino caro was the overwhelming favourite, but she had no music on her digital stick for it, so she sang it a capella. It's on YT. Gesu Bambino informal recording, with her father on organ is very good. It's an impromptu performance, again about one year ago. So quite recent. Amen with the Ndlovu choir, and Down from his glory with David Cerne are also recent releases. If you want to go back and see jaw dropping cuteness and skill at an early age, watch her concert at the Canisius church in 2015. The Ave Maria, Gomez (version) is the one to watch.

Great reaction, Renee, as always! I loved the reaction you had already made of Amira singing Amazing Grace live at the age of 13 and projecting a long D6 followed by a beautiful and unbelievable E6 flat.

You may be interested to follow some of her other arias. Nessun Dorma, the Flower Duet with Corlea Botha, both at a concert in South Africa (CIG 2017). Age 16, La Vergine Degli Angeli. Amira is 20 now and studying music in South Africa, but there are a wide range of classic crossover, hymns, musicals, etc. on You Tube.

A very accurate and nice reaction, I suscribed. Amira's 20 years old now and yes, she's still singing and performing opera arias, and her Italian diction is far better. She has clearly a great motivation and a great potential. This year, she started her Bachelor of music studies at Pretoria University, South Africa. I assume she has really good teachers, with, among others, conservatory level vocal tuition. However, just before this, some of her last perfomances were already outstanding. So wait and see, but I bet my bottom dollar that she will show us some wonders in the next years 😊. Waiting for it, you can react to her rendition of Ave Maria by William Gomez in Canisius Church. Given her age of 11, it was absolutely insane.

Great reaction. Please do yourself a favor and listen the her Gesu Bambino performance in a Nijmegen ( Netherlands )church. Just Amira wearing coat and jeans. Her father on the church organ and her boyfriend recording the song just on his cell phone. No microfoon, no auto tune, no technical support what so ever. Just out of the blue, Amira and her father . It,s AMAZING.

Probably the best "O Mio Babbina Caro" with a more mature voice is her post-puberty medley when she was 13 3/4 on December 2nd 2017. The second song of the medley is "Your Love" wherein she exhibits the full power and beauty of her low notes to her high notes. In 2018 any of her performaces are beautiful examples of voice versatility and breadth depth of her repertoire that contiues to this day.

Please check a recent video where she is 20 YO. This was about 10 years after she won Holland's Got Talent at age of 9. It was a concert of all the winners of HGT since these competitions started 15 years ago.

Amira did not study anywhere until she was 10 years old. She is self-taught (nugget).

Amira is now studying music at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

I hope she goes into full-time Opera she's still relatively young and has enormous potential.

Hate the aria, but when I was this age I barely knew any of these notes even existed that she's hitting perfectly, not to mention the technique etc, crazy stuff

Love your reactions always pleasant and informative. I watched a German opera singer react to this a few days ago and I was in shock. She basically berated Andre Rieu saying her was a horrible composer, and pretty much was very negative about Amira's miss pronunciation . Saying she should not be singing it if she can not sing it correctly.. It was a horrible reaction.

Yes, I saw it, too. But Andre is not a composer - he's a conductor (though he does do his own arrangements).

Her voice changed quite a bit and Arias like O Mio Babbino Caro and some others today do not fit her voice. Other style of music fits her present voice better. Her voice and style still is unique and she must stay away of the typical ordinary classical trained style. For example you can check her Phantom with Ruhan De Toit 2023, you´ll not find another soprano as her..

to began with Italian is not the best tongue for Opera. IMHO German is best, then French, Spanish and then English with Russian coming in last for the European tongues. Ya Italian sounds good but it is not as good as the others coming last. The only reason we have so much Opera written in Italian is b/c for about 200 yr the nobles thought it was best and they were the ones paying to have the music written. Mozart wrote some in Italian which are good but the ones he wrote in German are just so much better by a factor of 10.

Maggie you should now listen to her sing Ave Maria (Gomez) this is done in a church with her mother playing recorder brother playing violin and father playing the organ this is an excellent example of how she sounds without professional recording as it is recorded by a member of the church on a mobile phone, in my opinion this is probably one of her best along with Song to the moon, nella fantasia and then anything else that she sings. But yeah Ave Maria (Gomez) is definitely the best and should be your next reaction to her, looking forward to your reaction

For those who don't know,O Mio Babbino Caro is essentially a teenage girl throwing a tantrum because her father doesn't approve of her boyfriend. Amira is kind of a unicorn. She sang this at 9 years old with only self training. She was able to do that without damaging her vocal chords. Most need actual training and practice to hit those notes without straining. You can do permanent damage if you push things like this.

She has a wobble on her high notes now, if any vibrato at all. That’s what happens when you push like she does here.

We would enjoy it more if you stopped talking through the performance Why can't you wait until the end to dissect it.

In all fairness, this is a reaction video. You could just watch the source video if you want a purer experience. Most of us appreciate Maggie's insights.

Thankfully, Maggie Reneé Mentioned Towards The End Of This Video, That, That Singer Was 10 Years Old, Because I Just Did A Search On Her, Amira Willighagen, And She Was Born On March 27th, 2004, So She's Now 20 Years Old, Making That Video 10 Years Ago . . . I Knew A Opera Singer Back In The Early 1990's, And When She Sang, Her Mouth, Tongue And Lips Would Vibrate The High Notes, Which Was Very Visible, So That Video Of The Then 10 Year Old Amira Willighagen, Was Not Her Singing There, On That Stage, And Another, And Older Adult Woman Singer Was Singing That Part, Either Off Stage In That Video, Or Her Singing That Part Was Played During That Concert, And She Acted Like She Was Singing It . . . If You Look Very Closely At Amira Willighagen's Face, Mouth And Throat, She's Not Singing That Song, But Voicing It, aka Flubbing It, aka Faking It . . .

I cannot believe that a person can be so ignorant to say that because her mouth, tongue & lips don’t vibrate that it was not Amira singing. UNBELIEVABLE. You obviously have no idea what you’re talking about. Take Magee Renee for example. She doesn’t do these things & she is a professionally trained Opera singer. The person you saw in the early 1990’s was probably far less talented than Amira Willighagen is at the age of ten. If you need to comment, get your facts right & don’t denigrate one of the worlds most talented Sopranos.
