Maggie Renee -- Amira's high note was not off key. It was a perfect E-flat. It sounded high because the other side of the Atlantic Ocean tunes their orchestras at A444, whereas we use A440 in America. Plus, some European orchestras add 4 to 5 cents upward to their A444. (If I remember correctly from my youthful studies of music theory, there are 9 cents to each Semitone.) So, A444 plus 4 cents really sounds high to us Americans.

I notice that many people who can't find anything real to critisize will often fall back on the "she looks nervous" schtick. Amira hasn't been nevous since she was singing in a public park at six years.

She sings like an angel that she is.She also has a heart of of gold.she lives in South Africa now,and she donates half het money she earns to open playgrounds in South Africa,as of December 2022,her organization has built 18 playground!!

I love this girl in everything she sings.

Great reaction Renée. You would obviously know ‘’Flower Duet ‘’ which really sorts out the wannabe’s from those with the voice & passion to give the song its required attention. Well, Amira & a lady by the name of Corlea Botha got together to perform this epic & absolutely nailed it. I’ve heard many artists perform this, but WOW, not as well as these two. You mentioned nervousness. Interestingly, Amira says she feels excited before a big concert but never nervous. Check her singing before 10,000+ with Andre Rieu when she was only 10. Likewise singing Nella Fantasia at 12 and Sound of Music Medley at 15. She also sang O Sole Mio, with Patrizio Buanne, at age 12. She is now 18.

Amira also stated when she was younger that she feels as if shes on a cloud when she sings. The adorable little girl that walked out on Andre Rieu's stage in front of thousands showed absolutely no sign of nervousness. That's the problem with most of these reactors, they don't know Amira the Person then and now.

Amira is widely considered the best singer in the world. Over 1 billion fans. Also receiving a 50,000 standing ovation at the age of 9. On Hollands got talent. At 18 now she has only gotten better! Very nice reaction. After years of listening to her, I never get tired of hearing her vocals. She is an amazing lyric soprano. Amira has such good control, tone, range, and quality. She had all this at nine years old and nothing is forced. Her voice keeps ringing in the ears long after the song is over. I have heard some voice coaches not very accepting of her talent at this age afraid that her voice will give out early. Some other opera amateur aficionados denigrate her for not having the experience of a Callas or Sissle so they do not consider her in the same class. But I just have to say that to be able to sing arias with the best of them without effort is a great achievement. I hope she sticks with classical music and POPera, I do not want her to become the fat lady that sings at the end of an opera. The opera elite do not deserve her. amazing

The venue is the South African concert, "Classics is Groot!", ("Great" in English) attended by nearly everyone in South Africa. That's why the big production, big stage, massive choral support, huge orchestra, and huge audience, and bagpipes, and usually a harpist and a flautist. The first time she sang on that stage, a few years before this performance, the rest of the cast mostly ignored her. The next year, Amira was back, and the folks who dissed her were never seen again, on that stage Well, perhaps I exaggerate a Ii'l bit, but you can see for yourself how the management of the show supports her.

What a wonderful voice and I must say, very accommodating parents too.

Amira's performance is wonderful, whereas your reaction is wonderful as well. A wonderful reaction complements with a wonderful rendition of Amazing Grace makes the reaction video amazing.

She had not received any voice or singing coaching what so ever.Before Amira appeared on stage,at 'The Holland's Got Talent' competition, and she was given a bit of coaching by the organisers of H G T.She won the first round and stunned the judges and audiance who could not believe that such a powerful and mature sound,could come from this dear nine year old Elfin of a little girl. Amira received the Golden Ticket and Golden Shower to the semi finals. Amira won both of these,the final by more than fifty percent of the votes. Amazing Grace too

My 16 year old granddaughter has a black belt in karate, she liked your kick in your opening.

Any problems that she displays regarding vowel placement would likely be due to her being a native Dutch speaker.

She was also raised speaking Afrikaans, her mother being from South Africa. That language and Dutch are very similar but not identical.

@@jamesdavis4598 Amira's mother originally came from South Africa. She taught Amira Afrikaans at the same time as she learned Dutch. Essentially Amira has two native languages. Afrikaans is probably even easier for an English speaker to learn since it is highly regular while Dutch is much less regular. However like English it can often be understood when spoken incorrectly. German not so easy but Germans are usually helpful. French? Don't even ask! 🙂

She is, indeed, improving with age. My fav opera singer is Patricia Janeskova (sorry Maggie). btw, "Bag Pipes", those were Highland War Pipes, loud, powerful but limited. There are the Bretton, Ullean, Scottish Lowland, Staffordshire and my fav. the Northumbrian Small Pipes. Intimate, flexible and expressive.

Highlands are traditionally associated with Amazing Grace when honoring those of the uniformed services who have fallen in the line of duty. Highlands are also perfect for marching. They can fill open spaces and the sound lends itself to militaristic or quasi-militaristic settings. For those reasons, even the various Emerald Societies and other such groups use the Highland when marching on St. Patrick's Day in New York City instead of the specifically Irish Uilleann pipes.

@@jonathanwetherell3609 Exactly. Use the instrument that is appropriate for the performance. The Uillean would be totally unsuitable for a parade regardless of ethnic association. You want the marchers to MARCH. And you want everyone to know they are coming. 😉

...as nice as she is... in this field there are thousands with nice voices. hope she does not get lost in the sea of good voices out there. some make a living... a few make it big...even less get to be among the best... nice to hear you... its' been a while She does have... a voice.

Huh??

Her voice naturally changed quite a lot and she cannot hit those high notes pitch perfect, with a free vibrato and a pleasant tone anymore. You hinted about the future and her forward development, are there any roles in musical for dramatic sopranos, would fit her present voice or should she just skip that stage and wait a decade or more until her soprano voice is fully ready for the role as Brünnhilde, Wagner opera. She now is in the process deciding for which music university she will head for. Earlier she posted she was interested apply for Juilliard, but how can she finance. Recently not much happening around her, except she frequently is posting pictures of her and her present boyfriend on FB rather than relevant FB post from concerts, if any.

No, that isn,t her latest performance. I have been at her latest Christmas concert at Bergeijk last december. My GOD it was so good , Her voice is STUNNING . All high notes were perfect . She can sing them with eas. Except when she is keeping her voice safe ,she will not sing the high notes for a while .So it,s not that she can,t, but won,t to protect her voice.

Now she is currently taking a gap year after finishing high school. She is in Europe at the moment with her brother and boyfriend of two years. They spent Christmas with her father there and she had performances and a fan day. She said she plans to attend University in Cape town next year. This year she hopes to travel and perform and learn more about singing.

I’m unaware that Amira is now unable or not capable of hitting those high notes whilst keeping her natural vibrato. Can you please explain your reasons for claiming she can’t?. Also, there are at least 2 obvious reasons that she hasn’t posted on FB concert performances etc, as her schooling has been a priority, and rightfully so. Also, since Covid has devastated the concert scene, that is another reason. It also sounds like you take exception to Amira having a private life. Give her a break, she is still a teenager for goodness sake.

Thanks Maggie Renee for a great informative reaction. I subscribed to your Chanel a long time ago & gave up asking you to react to Amira, so I’m extremely pleased you finally got around to it. Hopefully it won’t be as long between drinks for your next reaction to this amazing young lady. I’d really love your reaction to her performing Ave Maria by Gomez at the Canisius Church when she was 11. This is simply mind boggling, or maybe Sound of Music medley at age 15. She sings about one octave above the original by Julie Andrews & it’s wonderful. Cheers Graeme

O yes, Lucy and Amira, I follow them both on KZread: both equally good singers. They have a lot in common: about the same age, starting singing at 7-9 years of age and both awesome performers.

But Lucy is more of a pop-studio singer, very different and she stand no chance sing against Amira in a space without amplification.
