Ancient Temple Covenants in the New and Everlasting Covenant | Covenants in the LDS Temple Endowment

The format of the covenants that we find in the modern Latter-day Saint temple ceremony, has strong parallels to how covenants were made in the ancient world. Knowing the technicalities of ancient covenant structures may sound tedious or unnecessary, but I think they help us put the temple endowment into context a little better. By covenanting with God in the temple we enter into a new relationship with Him as His sons and daughters. Using this covenant format helps us acknowledge the antiquity of these promises and formalize our worship.
Each covenant we make in the temple builds upon each other to help us progress from sincere disciples to selfless members of a covenant community. Each covenant we make in the temple inducts us into the larger New and Everlasting Covenant, which describes the relationship God forged with mankind throughout different periods of history. Each individual endowment covenant follows an ancient pattern that connects the primeval company of Saints that came before us, back to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Adam.

Great explanation. The way you explain things is so plain and logical. It's all in the scriptures and most people don't see it. Thanks.

Thanks 👍 How many parables Jesus gave us? 50-60? Could there be someone bigger than Jesus? Another Holy Man from Israel gave us more than 200 parables. My favorite is called 'The poor farmer and the precious wine' 🙏

Joseph did not practice Polygamy. He did not look in To a hat to translate The book of mormon. He did not teach about The everlasting covenant. He was and is a man of God. Come Out of Babylon read Your book of mormon.

I'm sorry, there's simply zero connection, likeness, or anything remotely close to compare the mormon temples to any other temple in that ever existed from any culture or time period. There were NO ancient temple covenants. The arguments and explanations in this video is pure gas lighting. You would think if temples were this important to salvation, Christ himself would have mentioned their purpose and use anywhere, but he doesn't. In fact, when he did talk about temples while he lived on the earth, he said temples will be destroyed. He even mentioned specifically the 'fig leaves' (sound familiar?) that will be destroyed in connection with the temple. While I can appreciate and even respect the beliefs mormons have about their temples, claiming they have the same purpose and use as ancient temples is not based in reality and completely false.

The law was dissolved when Jesus was resurrected. it seems the Mormon religion is a religion of Moses not of Jesus. For the law made nothing perfect, on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope through which we draw near to God. Hebrews 7:19 Your religion lives under the law with so many ordinances and laws, Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. We must believe in our savior and then we will be saved, it is a gift from God, no striving, His righteousness will work through you for those who believe in the true God.

even the Book of Mormon shows that ancient ordinances were no longer required after christ was resurrected. 2 Nephi 25:30 "and Inasmuch as it shall be expedient, ye must keep the performances and ordinances of God UNTIL the law shall be fulfilled which was given unto Moses".

@@katem6673Jesus came to full fill the law . Which he did with his sacrifice . He is the lamb . Now we have some new covenants which one is baptism for the dead . All covenants were not done away with . Just the added carnal laws which was a school master to bring the Jews to Christ . Which they still did not understand . They still missed the mark . Are you missing the mark too? We do not have any of this school master laws any more . But you do know that Hebrews does have most of the temple in it . Sad you obviously are not recognizing the important sacred things that point to Jesus Christ and his atonement . Hmm

No we do not do Moses law . Sorry . But we do sacred covenants that still point us to Jesus Christ and his atonement . We do not have animal sacrifice nor do we have incense or a lot of Moses laws . We have covenants to Jesus Christ .

@@lindamartinez7006 no need to be condescending. You are free to interrupt your religion how you wish. I am choosing to follow the gospel of Jesus Christ. Not the Gospel according to Joseph Smith or any other latter day prophets. In all my study I have learned that the New Testament is one gospel. The BOM is another Gospel and the D&C and prophets teachings are another. I was shocked when I realised how different they all were. How they teach contradicting gospels. I hope your religion makes you happy. Right now you seem aggressive which does not seem happy. But I hope you find peace within Mormonism
