The Law of Sacrifice | Covenants in the LDS Temple Endowment
In the temple endowment, Latter-day Saints covenant to live the Law of Sacrifice. This may seem odd because Christians, including Latter-day Saints, do not perform animal sacrifices like the ancient Israelites performed in the Bible. In the Book of Mormon, Jesus specifically commanded the Nephites to do away with animal sacrifice, and instead to offer up a “broken heart and a contrite spirit” (3 Nephi 9:19-20).
However, the Law of Sacrifice is an eternal principle that is still alive and relevant today. According to the Church’s handbook, the Law of Sacrifice as outlined in the temple, “means sacrificing to support the Lord’s work and repenting with a broken heart and contrite spirit.”
So in today’s video, we’ll be exploring ways that we can fulfill the Law of Sacrifice, namely offering a broken heart and a contrite spirit, and supporting the Lord’s work. We’ll also cover the most important purposes of the Law of Sacrifice: to build saving faith and to help us come to know Jesus Christ.

Your temple prep is the best!!!
You unpack so much in these little videos! Leaves me pondering about my standing before Heavenly Father. Thank you.
I just had this playing in the background when all the sudden, I heard something that perfectly applied to me. Thank you so much.
I'm glad that you speak a little quickly, it keeps my attention as you also have a lot of information to offer with a high-quality video. I enjoy the beautiful or inspiring pictures.
I love this so much. Deep and simple. Just what I needed today. You and the Lord providing daily bread. Thank you.
Thank you.
You're doing a great job and providing info that I need.
Jesus said "Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest!" Sabbath is Rest. Jesus is the Sabbath. He is our Rest, because in Him we rest from all of our work of trying to cleanse ourselves from our own sins by keeping the law.
Haven't I seen you on Book of Mormon Central. I like these types of information videos
This was very interesting. I am trying to learn more about Mormonism in order to better understand my aunty who recently joined. I see a lot of similarities between the Mormons and my tribe.
Great video! I think at 7:22 though you meant Matthew 16:25, not Matthew 10:34.
I always thought the law of sacrifice meant paying tithing.
ROMANS 12:1 tells you exactly what you must sacrifice as a Christian. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service, And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God. No need for an endowment, There was one sacrifice and that is the blood of our Savior Jesus Christ. The only way to God is through Jesus Christ, His grace is sufficient, you need nothing more. If you trusted in Him you would not need all your rules and laws, it is only through grace will you truly know Him.

They are HIS rules and law. He requires, as has he always required of us, obedience and sacrificing our will to His. He said "Come Follow Me". It is only through covenanting with Him that we can be enabled to truly follow Him. He gave us Commandments and law. We love Him, so we do our best to Hear and obey Him :) "What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God" Micah 6:8
It's not about we to fulfill the law of sacrifice. Jesus Christ is already fulfill the eternal sacrifice for all of us. Why do we need to add it up? "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians2:8-9
