That is exactly how it is at job when something doesn’t go their way. All that niceness goes right out the window. I once had a customer start out nice then said wanted a statement, I printed it but the formatting made the writing small. So he said he needed enlarged, advised him I could not change the formatting and he turned extra rude quickly, said he was the customer and was always right…not sure how to send the system this memo though😂

Not really... she did say she actually called ahead and changed the reservation. It's more like whoever she talked to about changing the reservation a day early and adding a third room is not the same person who made the original reservation. This is actually not a costumer but a staff problem. I've noticed this at a lot of places, not just hotels but also schools, and other businesses where the staff just don't communicate with each other and have no idea what's going on in their own place of employment because of it. My dad use to work as a custodian in my high school, he's retired now but he often would have no idea about having to work over time for football games and other after school activities until the day before. There were times when I was a student at the school where I knew my dad was going to be working over time before he did because no one told him he needed to till the last possible minute. Meanwhile the students have morning announcement advertising after school events over a month in advance. My kid was going to the same high school and things haven't really changed. We wouldn't be told about any changes to his bus scheduled until the last possible moment and it's not the bus driver's fault because they aren't told about any changes till the last possible minute either. Cause they aren't given any advanced notice the parents aren't given any advanced notice. We also got really pissed off last year because there was a potential gun threat and no one bothered to call us to let us know he was OK, we had to hear about it from FaceBook cause no one at the school thought maybe we should keep the parent's informed about their children's safety. I've also noticed it recently where... I'm not going to give any names but there was an incident that was reported online and a couple different admins got involved, one of which claimed there was nothing they could do having no idea that a higher up was already dealing with the situation because multiple people had reported the same issue. I talked to another person that works there and curious if there were any updates about the situation I asked him about it and he had no idea what I was even talking about. I assumed that their entire staff would have some knowledge of what was going on because of how serious the issue was but turns out the general public who don't even work there know more about the situation than their own employees do. And we really shouldn't know more than they do because they're the ones who actually have access to the code and can directly see what's going on but the customer base actually talk to each other more than the people who work there trying to fix the issue. I've even seen cases where companies don't even KNOW who works there. Like I put in an application at Wal Mart and spoke to the manager, named a few different employees who already worked there and he had no idea who any of them were. What's even more surprising is I know people who were fired from Wal Mart and got rehired super easily for the exact reason that no one actually talks to each other and the person who rehired them had no idea they already worked there and got fired. My kid's biological father has been fired and rehired at the same Wal Mart multiple times. Only reason I'm aware of his employment history is because my ex gets child support from him. I even had an issue in a place I was working where I had requested a day off was told that was fine, and then I got a call from work wandering where I was when I didn't show up on the day I had requested over a month in advance. Turned out my stage manager was never informed that I was suppose to have that day off cause the person I talked to who did all the scheduling never told him about it. I never actually did anything during the show anyway, just set up before the show and clean up after but I had already done my set up the night before so the stage was already set and I had planned to come in early the next day to do my usual after show clean up. I thought all of that had already been cleared ahead of time cause I had specially requested that one day off before I even agreed to work that show otherwise I never would have agreed to it yet no one was informed that was already an agreed to stipulation for me working there. Only time I ever got to work late and it was on a day where I wasn't even suppose to be at work in the first place. Plus I didn't have to actually do anything because again I already set up everything the day before and there was NOTHING I actually had to do during the show. I got dragged into work just to sit back stage and do nothing... I mean I did my after show clean up which I was going to do the next day when I came in but there was really no reason for me to be there. It was a pretty easy show. There wasn't even any other back stage crew because there was nothing to do back stage. We did have a second person originally but when they realized we didn't need anyone else back stage the other person got let go. Though I believe that other person was still meant to shadow me so she could fill in on my day off but she never showed up. I did train her to fill in but I guess she thought when they said they didn't need her full time that she was actually fired completely. There was even still a pay roll check for her at the end of the end of the run that got printed out because no one told pay role she never showed up to work.

I was in this exact situation and it ended up giving me nightmares that very same night because of that woman's screaming. She gave no indication that the other room was in her name either. And expected us to know that they were together due to her using the same credit card. Problem: she booked on Expedia and chose to pay Expedia, rather than us, so we only had a virtual card on file. And then she wanted us to give her a veteran discount and got mad when I told her that we couldn't change anything when it comes to rates because of the virtual card bit. 😑

honestly, I feel like anything with online payments are complicated, and I have ADHD, and I dread for the day I have to do this, I feel like this would be a genuine mistake. • @kaylanbaker4988

@@samssams666 before I left the hotel industry, one of the things that had changed was that you could book through Expedia and choose to pay upon arrival. They would send us that person's card info. I could mess with rates and apply discounts to some of them. The problem lies when someone decides to pay Expedia. When you choose to pay that site, they send a hotel was known as a virtual card that is uploaded with a preset amount and you cannot charge anything extra. So the hotel posts the payment to that card and places the guests card for incidentals. But with the virtual card, the rates come through set and the amount on a virtual card comes through set. There's nothing you can do outside that unless something got messed up on expedias sending, in which case you would have to contact them directly. Expedia also charges to use their site and most people end up paying more with that little fee than if they had went through the hotel directly. Not always but a good more than half the time. My recommendation is always just call the hotel directly and talk to someone. Less fingers in the jar.

I don’t understand this. It’s one thing if people are being rude - insulting or cussing you. But the relationship is between the guest and the hotel, not the guest and the front desk receptionist. (And she did the booking - but at a higher rate than the receptionist did- in this instance the hotel is acting to max profits from a guest who’s interest is the opposite- keeping costs DOWN so it’s oddly a bit - well, if not fraud- just ‘how bookings work’- the hotel is selling the same room same days- but at different prices for the same thing, without telling the guest, or having a standing match to the better prices. What difference does it make to the receptionist? Why does she feel ANY pain??? She’s getting paid either way, she is not making any more or less money, and she doesn’t make the rules, so the worst she can say is ‘we can’t do that’ or ‘that has an extra fee.” - it’s not her problem if a bride makes bad plans. If the person isn’t mad at her but just at hotel policy or their own bad planning - why would that upset the receptionist? Why is she so defensive? None of this is personal (except when a guest personally calles her a byatch…) and- she’s getting paid to deal with stressed out travelers trying to sort a dozen different logistics details at once, either way. It’s not like she gets paid less if the guest is annoyed or stupid.

I always book connecting rooms and it’s always a pain. I call the hotel the hotel BEFORE I book since the layout of connecting rooms varies by property. It could be two queens connecting to two queens or two queens connecting to one king. Then after I book I call the hotel back to make sure it went through correctly. Hilton does better than most booking connecting rooms

I went to Thailand recently and I was pretty much in charge of booking everything for my friends and I. I had my own room but still wanted to be close to them for safety and all that. Didn’t know how to book that on the sites I was using but fortunately all hotels seem to try to put you close together automatically if booked under the same name! I was very appreciative of this! I even had one that was connected to my friend’s room so that was awesome!
