An Unexpected Surprise In The Philippines (
Ah, the Philippines. I was happy to be back. I didn't have much of a plan on this trip, I just wanted to go somewhere off the beaten path. Laoag City, in the far north of Luzon, seemed like an interesting place to start. It was the home of the Marcos dynasty, whose son was the current president. Little did I know, the president was actually visiting the city that week -- I had to try my luck and see if I could meet Bongbong. Who wouldn't, with a name like that.
Along the way, I formed a new gang, received some of the best hospitality of my life, and discovered what a Filipino empanada looks like. This was shaping up to be a good trip.

I watch a lot of these travel vloggers on KZread. All with similar style of no destination, not much editing, just roaming around with a camera experiencing different people/cultures. You have the perfect balance of this, and being informative and educational at the same time. Not many of these vloggers have this balance. Keep up the great work.

I’ve been to the Philippines several times tried learning. Tagalog but only remembered a few words. I’ve been to Laoag City and went to President Marcos Tomb. Been to many places on Luzon especially Metro Manila. Many memories brought back to me. The Philippines is a bright beautiful place with beautiful people and wonderful foods
Pure gold! You are a great ambassador for all foreigners who aspire to explore the Philippines. Tall, guapo, charming, open-minded, respectful, adventurous, and multilingual! Really looking forward to seeing more of your travels!
I miss the Philippines 🇵🇭… i was surprised to see such an amazing stadium in Laoag City. I was also shocked to see so much geo engineering in the the beautiful blue skies above in your video. Excited to see more of this wonderful country!
@cyclocrossthesea-lionman1824

Yup , I'm always watching for the geo engineering. Was in Thailand in 2018 when the government quietly announced it would be geo engineering to combat the pollution(!!) of the fires outside bangkok, cloud seeding to make it rain. Since then I've not seen a video of Thailand where the sky is not a filthy hazy mess. When I was there first in 2008 the weather was literally perfect clockwork, including the rainy season showers , an hour or 2 every day. I imagine the pattern is very different now, more droughts, more floods.
Laoag City. Vigan City. Philippines. And you came from El Salvador. Sabbatical, you are everywhere! Enjoy the hospitality of the Ilocanos! Take a side trip to the beaches (as you know, Ilocos is along the sea on the west and on the north side). And BTW, if you happen to visit Hawaii (which I know you will eventually), you may find a good number of people there speaking the same language (Ilocano). Safe travels.👍
Philippines is perhaps my favourite country to visit. It just has such a warm vibe.
You are right filipinos are the kindest and friendliest people.
Tommy, you're one of my favorite KZreadrs, your call at the end was genuine and I will definitely support you on your way! Used to live in the Phils, nice to see you enjoyed it too! Take good care!
as an Italian who experienced Filipinos ... I totally respect this people, I wish in Italy we would have the some of their attitude (toward gays, ladyboys and anybody who wants to live the way he/she likes respecting law and community.. some times I feel like Filipinos are centuries ahead of Italy on this type of development.. and if quality of life is quality of people you have around -not money- then the Philippines rank near the top of the work ranking) ❤❤❤ love and tons of respect for the Philippines and their people.
I'd love to go there. Filipinos are very nice people. One of my best friends when I was in high school was from there.
PH is awesome 🇵🇭 haven't been yet but all the Filipinos I've met are good people. Empanadas makes everything better, too 😋

I am a Canadian presently living in the Philippines. I love it here; People are very kind and always friendly, which makes me feel right at home. I come from the island of Newfoundland, where, during the 9/11 incident, many Americans landed and were taken into the homes of the people because of a shortage of hotel rooms. They experienced the love and generosity of our people.

I came across your channel today and I like what I saw. It's a mix of documentary and vlogging. Immersive, interactive. Perfect ingredients to survive in a tough neighborhood. That church was built in 1779 and has the longest/largest nave in Ilocos Norte. It is indeed one of the older churches in the country (but not the oldest) and has been declared an 'Important Cultural Property' by the National Museum. The entire country is absolutely beautiful and welcoming. Even Mindinao. Granted I was in Davao over 30 years ago. I will never forget the eagle preserve, orchid farm or butterfly lepidopterarium. I spent a lot of time in and around the Bataan peninsula and Bagiuo in Luzon and unfortunately much less in the northern regions. Thanks for showing the world. I hope to return to this wonderful country and explore it's central islands and base out of Dumaguete.
I'm planning on going to the Philippines next month. Hopefully everything goes well :)
