If There's A World War 3, It'll Start Here 🇵🇭🇺🇸 (

If you were to travel to this small part of the world, a sea filled mostly with reefs and rocks, you'd unknowingly have a front row seat to the world's next great conflict. The Philippines have at various times been in conflict with both the United States and China, but they're starting to side with one over the other. There's some big reasons for that.
I traveled to Subic Bay, a former US naval base located on the west coast of Luzon, to see what the story was. Along the way I'd also travel down the Bataan peninsula, a place where the last World War took place. Maybe there was something we could all learn.

It’s not xenophobia. It’s not against the Chinese people. It’s against the CCP, and we’d be foolish not to be against the CCP.

You should occasionally show maps in your videos. For example I'd love to be able to visualize where that peninsula was. You don't have to go crazy, just a simple image displayed for a few seconds over part of the screen would be really appreciated. Loved the video regardless. The Philippines is an amazing country.

I am American. I love USA. I love Filipinos. I hope they do not fall into USA trap to hate China. Anything you hear from the West, especially the USA, you must be skeptical. Please research well, including what the host said about the China military ship. There are more to the stories. Yes, if there'd be WW3, mostly it will start with USA involment

For almost a decade, the previous Filipino president, Duterte, spurned the US and tried hard to cozy up to the Chinese with the hope that they wouldn’t encroach on the Philippines’ territories and would stop harassing its fishermen. However, the tactic was an abject failure. The Chinese only respect strength, not weakness. The new Filipino president’s strategy of inviting back the US military is born out of desperation, since his military isn’t strong enough to stand up to the Chinese. The US had already made clear that the mutual defense treaty with the Philippines also encompasses all the disputed territories in the South China Sea, so unless China wants war with a much superior navy, it’s going to back off and look for easier victims to harass. Vietnam is the most obvious target here. It would really be ironic, if the Vietnamese also invite the US navy back to Cam Ranh Bay as a deterrent against Chinese aggressions. China doesn’t want to be encircled by the US military but it is doing its best to make that a reality 🤷🏼‍♂️

Philippine fishermen are being harassed in the South China Sea by the Chinese Navy, to the point where they can no longer fish. That’s the reason the US is interested in returning. The US, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore (the entire Asana area) is concerned about Chinese Nationalism and expansionism.

I absolutely love the Philippines, it's people , and the culture. Live there for 4 years but had to leave due to medical issues. I lived up in San Jose del Monte for about 8 months . Did the Pilgrimage for Easter to the Church of the Grotto. Lived down in General Santos city for about the same time. Then I met a girl from Cebu and moved to Negros Oriental around the Dumaguete area where I spent the rest of the time and got married in Cebu where my now wife's family lives. Oh how we miss being home. I consider the Philippines home now because I was treated better there than any place in my life even with my own family that are all mostly dead or estranged !!! It's the place of dreams❤️🙏🇵🇭. Like you, I hope and pray they don't get caught up in the craziness between China and America. The Chinese do treat the fisherman there very badly .

You are right about the Filipinos viewing Americans more favorably than their other colonizers, the Spanish and the Japanese. We were thought in our history classes that it was America that saved the Philippines from the Japanese. How McArthur kept his promise and returned there to liberate the Philippines from Japan. Yeah, most Filipinos love the Americans. 🇺🇸🇵🇭

My lolo (grandfather) was in the Bataan death March. He lived to be 91. He passed in 09’. Boy he hated the Japanese. Even during his last years, he had dementia, but I will always remember he would randomly start yelling and have flashbacks.

Keep in mind Latai. My dad was a US Army POW guard there. He befriended a POW artist who sketched him for cigarettes. Dad wrote an article about his experiences emphasizing how well POWs were treated. Article included the sketch. Eventually article was reprinted it Tokyo news paper, where esteemed artist recognized his work.. contacted my dad and invited him to visit. He and mom did, and artist and wife visited my parents in Clearwater, FL.

Hey, I just discovered your channel and thought you were just some average travel blogger. But when I watched your content it felt more unique than the other. It was refreshing seeing just how real of a person you are and the fact you actually learn most of the dialects, i really respect that. I also enjoy your bits of education during the vlog. I feel like I'm in a history class that I would actually enjoy learning from. Your cool man 😎
