How do you justify not having closed captioning for the hearing impaired on this video? Most of us don't know sign language because we weren't born deaf and because this is the twenty first century and we are more than capable now of having closed captioning on videos like this! I'm not even going to try and watch this and your "scary music" to inspire drama or whatever is ridiculous and making it even harder to understand what's being said. This video is a fail🙄

That's all it has been since - who knows whether the 'non orthodox' denominations represent a purer pre Roman polluted faith, but for certain what became the Catholic church in Rome was far too well connected with the Empire to be any coincidence.

@Drew it's more accurate to say when you're talkinG church and state issues, politics is one thing but it's partisan politics is verboten. It's a two-way street. It's as much as saying we don't want the church messing with government partisans and the church does not want the government messing in its business. Until a crime is committed by a church then it does become governmental business. crime trumps separation as for example when money is obtained by fraudulent means or in the case of child sexual abuse or other abuse of members. Then people have the right to get the protection of law enforcement.

I wanted us to give breath to at least giving that some brief thought, although I would say that talking about things such as abortion from the pulpit could eventually be used against the church, so caution must be given to the old and dangerous slippery slope. I'd say if principal is preached, then one can focus on that rather than talking politics directly. Seems reasonable to me anyway. Thanks Ann! 🙂

The excessive power of religion(s) and religious extremists are one of the reasons why I would never move to the U.S. Here in Europe your faith and religion is purely a private matter that has nothing to do in public life. And a huge majority of us citizens, believers or atheists, want it to be this way; a politician using his religion a/o beliefs on a campaign would be a sure path to losing the election. "Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and to God what belongs to God".

He's willing to be "crazy" because it's lucrative!

Ms Nijland: That's easy to say but difficult to prove... and that is the crux of the matter. If you could clearly say "This pastor is merely an opportunist" dealing with a radicalized faith would be easier. You can't prove it... a personal jet and millions of dollars "suggest" your conclusion... but defusing this church is impossible. My "crazy" theory is that the Republicans/Trumpist are making these people their base to continue their behavior. Christian nationalism... which resembles fascism... If this voter block can overcome those of us who are more secular... we're going to be a fascist regime. It will collapse but at the cost of millions of lives. This is way beyond getting along. Many evangelical christian nationalists are deadly serious about returning to a way of governing when only white, male, christian land-owners have the rights of citizenship. Some have stated exactly this on other comment threads I have participated in. This is the unspoken crux of the issues behind the Jan. 6 hearings. Read the book "Hitler" by Ian Kershaw. It shows better than any of the many books on the subject how the social and political changes that brought Hitler to power came about. It is way beyond scary.

Same, as a whole the "right's" political views feel more weird to me as a Christian. Like how did you draw that conclusion from the Bible/Gospel? Separation of Church and State is more biblically logical to me, and therefore I have more liberal political views. I can disagree with someone without hating them or treating them less than a child of God.

I left a Southern Baptist church because they preached fear, hate, conspiracies. It was in the early 1980's. I was in Pottowattomy county in Oklahoma. I was in middle school and had learned about the Nazis. I saw a parallel to those 2 groups and wanted nothing to do with it. When my class mates found out why I left that church, they actually stopped bullying me. Strange to me. I really don't get them. A guy I was friends with tolled me he joined the K.K.K.. I tolled him what they did historically, and he was shocked. I don't get how ignorant they could be. I still don't.

Guys like Greg Locke are one of the reasons I have left Christianity and the church behind.

I grew up with these people. Twenty years of abuse, homelessness, starvation, and mental torture. Ten years of recovery, and I can finally almost breathe free in my own skin. I still can't watch a horror movie. I still face the front door in restaurants. I've seen pure evil in my life, and it came from the very people who offerered salvation. Your fealty and passivity, your politeness and manners buys you nothing. They will destroy your childhood innocence from within. This modern movement of fundamentalism is truly the forked tongue the Bible warned about.

Always remember that organised religion call their leaders pastors. This is the Spanish word for shepherd. The religious fanatics allege that they protect their flock from predators. Guess what happens to sheep? They get fleeced and butchered by the shepherds for the shepherds benefit. Don't be a sheep. The major pillor is the seperation of church and state. This must be defended to the death. Failure to do so will result in toxic sectarian conflict and toxic theocracies. Ireland had for centuries suffered horribly when people mixed warfare and statehood with religion. Northern Ireland is now only coming out of the centuries of nightmare sectarian conflict and violence basically due to religion. All religious practice should be private and completely divorced from national discourse and conduct of temporal affairs.

I am a retired pastor that believes wholeheartedly that the Church as a whole, for the most part, has sat by, uninvolved, for decades and has been desensitized to the evil that we are now dealing with that has come in like a flood and consumed our societies around the world, not just in the United States! Every generation has had its Greg Lockes who have stood boldly and preached against this progressively encroaching evil, but only a few would hear and now we are reaping the fruit of the seeds we have allowed to be sown. I was one of those who consistently sounded the warning and preached that Jesus Christ was the only WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. I was constantly at odds with the followers of the “status quo” inside and outside the churches I served. The way I see it, Pastor Locke and others like him are indeed following Jesus Christ! Jesus constantly stood at odds with the religious status quo of the day that the Scriptures tell us “honored God with their lips, but their hearts are far from Him!” Instead of your rather obvious and poor attempt to make these preachers of righteousness look bad, perhaps you should try making them look like the heroes they are! I must say I was rather amused by your comment about the Global Vision congregation having to move into a “circus tent.” All I see is a congregation growing so rapidly that they wisely erected a temporary facility to hold the number of people who are coming from all over the world to be in these services to experience something that is spiritually genuine! Instead of using the term “circus” in describing this tent, why not call it what it is, a modern-day Tabernacle where God has chosen to pour out His blessings and approval on the worship and delivery of the Word of God that is taking place in it! We use adjectives to describe things based on their obvious characteristics. I don’t see a circus taking place under that tent, therefore it is not a “circus tent”! It is a temporary tabernacle where worship to Almighty God is taking place! I think I would be a little careful calling something God has placed His stamp of approval upon a “circus tent.” I will say this in closing. I watched this entire “documentary” hoping there was still some quality journalism left in this world. Although you do present some valid points worth consideration and debate for clarification, all you have really done is further solidified the position of those on either side of this debate. Your bias against the boldness of preachers of righteousness like Pastor Locke who are passionate about returning our country to a higher consciousness of God and His righteousness and a closer relationship to Him is obvious. You have failed to present most of his remarks from his preaching clips in the context which they were presented. Your comments did nothing but cast him in a negative light. You even highlighted other ministers who supposedly disagree with him and cast them in a more positive light. I’m sorry, but even the New Testament teaches that there are differences in styles of ministry in the Kingdom of God and as long as the central focus of those ministries is preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, then they are doing what they should be doing and all ministry that is leading people to Christ is to be honored. But, if we depended on documentaries like yours to make such a determination about Pastor Locke, we would be left scratching our heads. Whatever happened to the kind of journalism that honestly presents truth in context and evidence from both sides of a debate about BOTH SIDES of a debate? Go back and show us more clips from the same messages Pastor Locke preached where he brings his comments to the central focus of his message, the hope that we all have in the saving grace and the unconditional love of God that we have through Jesus Christ the Lord!

I do believe that the Church has done a good job of addressing the issues which caused the problem, although there is definitely more work to be done and we must always be vigilant. All mythologies were once organized religions. They became mythologies once people found out they were nonsense. The same will happen with the Abrahamic faiths.

Here in Australia, we can have six pubs and one church in a small town, America has six churches to one pub, Australians get the social interaction from pubs and Americans get it from churches, Australia we buy a beer and drink and talk to mates, America gives money to the church for a bigger jet that the one the preacher already has. American churches hate when you don't conform with them, Australia doesn't care which pub you go to as long as you have a good time.

He's not crazy. He's a calculating conman, and a psychopath willing to watch the country burn just to keep his church and bank account filled. In short he's the Trump ideal. Most of these politics pushing evangelical ministers are the same. The sane ones stay out of politics, and seem closer to regular churches we have elsewhere.

@@mpls1982 no they don't. Our church never discusses anything political. Also recall that a preacher has 1st amendment rights same as anyone. Church funds cannot be used to politicize else exemption gets lifted.

“Give unto Caesar what is Caesar’s. Give to God what is God’s.” You’d think these people would actually read the book. It’s really quite sad how some of these people would rather listen to a pastor than the actual words of God.

It's becoming really scary depending on where you live. You're almost afraid to say who you support or what you believe in anymore. It's sad that people I used to be friends with have been removed from my social media accounts, the hate coming from them while posting scripture was just getting to be too much. As a Christian who used to belong to an Evangelical Church, I now cringe when I hear the word Evangelical or BAG (Born Again.)

The Preacher said that his congregation is one sided and that he telling what tickles theirs ears and preach what they want to hear instead telling the truth which they may not want hear. That is the definition of a false prophet. The false teachers don’t even quote the Bible. 🤦‍♀️

I don’t align with the preacher that was banned from twitter, it could be considered a badge of honor, but I definitely think he’s closer to the true Gospel than the other preachers you interviewed. Jesus never made politics a rallying point. Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s. The citizenship of the Christian is in Heaven, from where He will return to rule and rein. In the meantime He instructs His children from the Bible. Come Lord Jesus!

There are those who believe that they are on the path to greatness, but are blind to what lies before them.

This is good reporting. Just an open minded exploration of each sub-coulter. I like it when the reporter asks open ended questions.

I am so glad that I read the Bible on my own. And that I don't attend any of these churches. And I am amazed at what I'm able to recognize in the world today since I've been reading my Bible and paying attention. It's really sad to see so much anger and division in our country, and to see so many people being misled spiritually and politically. 💔😢🙏

I absolutely irony is that so many of these churches that do this political stuff claim that they follow the Bible 100%, nothing more, nothing less…… and that’s just so untrue. It all depends on who is on the pulpit. Different people can put their particular spin on most scriptures regardless, but it’s SO obviously misleading a lot of the time!

Amen. I just don’t know HOW they read their bibles and realize that what they’re doing is NOT what Christ was doing. Jesus was here to do His Father’s work. We should seek to do the same. We should not be focusing our efforts on preserving our rights and our country. We MUST make disciples and preach the gospel of Christ. It’s so simple and so beautiful. Read your Bible brothers and sisters!! Read it and let the Holy Spirit illuminate the scriptures.

I am a Finnish theology student. I watched this documentary because Roger Olson, a moderate American Evangelical theology professor, recommended this in his blog. Thank you for giving these valuable different perspectives in the film!
