I am in awe of Dr Feldenkrais and have followed this method for years. The science behind the success is impressive and makes it all seem so simple that I’m sure the process is at work in yoga and every type of exercise. This is the best introduction to the Dr Feldenkrais method. I’m glad to find this video.

Thank you very much for uploading this lecture. The 'filter' with which I am listening to this (Buddhism) is congruent with the concept of identity view (sakkāyadiṭṭhi) or heresy of individuality (New Concise Pali-English Dictionary).

Good to read your comment here. I am David s student, also a Buddhism practitioner. Good to hear how you related this practice to the Buddhist concept. Happy to explore further along this line

This talk inspired me to start learning the method. Am learning many stimulating things, i have a question. You say that once the brain understands then the learning is instant and the reorganising process is instant. This ive experienced many times in a small way, however the change doesn't seem to be permanent. Why do you think this is? Im aware that it may take a long time to get a reply to this but its been useful asking the question. All good wishes. Helen

This is a great question. The reason is that our habits have very strong and well used nervous pathways. If you repeat the lessons over time, and develop your conscious awareness about what feels different, the new way will become a new healthier habit. Thank you for this wonderful question. And thank you for your patience!

So it is neuroplasticity which enables the changes and healing within the body .Dr Feldenkrais applied scientific principles to his injury in an attempt to heal himself.Anyone can understand these and use them to heal other people .Thats fine but after your talk I am no closer to understanding what these principles are, or what is the Feldenkrais method .This is despite practicing regularly. Also is Feldenkrais sufficient in its self to maintain mobility? Or does one need to put the body through a full range of motion using some other form of body work for example yoga.I love your lessons by the way .Thankyou for posting them.

As yoga, this method is under the umbrella of somatics but is not exercise. To understand the principles deeply and apply them to oneself or others, one must take the four year training.

Thanks very well explained☺️ I have a question, I have heard that Moshe put an age limit on learning, I think 65 years old, unless the person had spent all his life learning new things, this statement is true or are they just stories? Thanks for sharing your lessons

No, to my understanding, Moshe always espoused a person's capacity to learn, regardless of age. Thank you for asking, and sorry for the delay in replying!
