It’s a big buffalo and this pride is mostly of young and inexperienced lions, hyenas on the other hand don’t suffocate their kills most of the times, they just eat you a live

I know this is nature and these events happen daily in the animal kingdom, but what a slow, agonizing, and painful way to go.

Looking at videos I think they can easily hunt human beings because we don’t have thick hairy skin like cows & buffaloes , hence they can easily tear down meat & we human tender meat than these.

If it's over in less than an hour that's not bad. I had mums friend months on a cancer ward extreme pain only morphine helped. She wanted to go but medical establishment was not allowed to euthanize so it was four months of pain, delirium, tubes everywhere, catheter bag for urine it was appalling. Humans die far more prolonged and painful deaths without the blood and lions just he pain of not being allowed to go in peace early. RIP Great you are remembered.

There comes a certain point where the pain becomes so bad that the animal just goes numb. I've watched zebras with their head up, looking around like nothing is happening while hyenas or lions are gobbling down their guts and eaten a good deal of the back legs. There is also some evidence that I seem to observe and that there is at least one firsthand report from a person, that lions are somehow psychospiritually able to lessen or eliminate the pain of being eaten, perhaps a comfort for the fact that you are losing your life to be someone else's food.

This is when you need a lion king; the king would’ve suffocated the buffalo easily in few minutes. This is more of torture. At least one young lioness tried to suffocate him, but doesn’t have the power and size to finish it in few minutes. Also these lions don’t seem hungry, they are just chilling, knowing the buffalo isn’t going anywhere. Sometimes nature is cruel, but that is life in the wild.

I think they've spotted an injured buffalo and can't turn it down. But where are the hyenas? But at least all those lions won't go hungry, or even starve.

They are being surprisingly patient. Thought they would be ripping it to shreds while it's still mooing in agony

Lions arent scavengers they are hunters

What helps lions is their number, but a single, sometimes two or even three lions are unable to take down a buffalo, unless he is sick or something like that. I have witnessed 15 lions and lioness failed to take down a male, healthy buffalo soldier. He was actually a formidable opponent 😳!

Most of the time lions are in a pride, but a single lion can not confront and take down a buffalo. It was in the same You Tube as I said earlier I did witness a pride of 15 lions unable to take down a healthy, strong, powerful bull of a buffalo, let alone only 2 lions 😳! In Africa and the whole wild kingdom, there are no hospitals, retirement living or nursing homes. This is what happens when you are old, slow, sick or injured. The lions are saying, " gather round folks, this is an easy dinner and enough fresh beef for all of us, including the kids".

Cape buffalo are difficult to kill. The fact that this one is injured is fortuitious to the young lions. But still, they are not doing a good job of exploiting weak spots like the groin, anus, etc. Many times, it is difficult or impossible to get a good chokehold on the throat until the animal is quite weak. This can come from generalized strength loss from struggling or blood loss from many wounds from attempts to subdue or even feed on the buffalo. If the anus can be bitten into enough, the lions will often pull out the large intestines through the anus, which hastens death through massive internal bleeding.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I am 37 years old born in 1986 and that always runs through my head. The nature specials we grew up on in the 90s as kids did not and I repeat did not make it look even a half nor even a quarter as graphic as all these videos you find on KZread these days of people showing what it’s actually like. In the 90s, they showed clips on how the predator big cats choked the neck for a few moments with some dramatic music and done. You went away thinking nothing much of the actual kill, but more impressive way they stalk. Seeing the reality as an adult through all of social media is harrowing, the bloodcurdling cries, long painful, guts exploding in a lot of these videos and eyes popping out while the animal is screeching, liver and heart being eaten like French fries while animal is still kicking, etc. Derek and Beverly Joubert ain’t never made it out like this in the 90s. They left us with a Disney esque version of nature. Lol

I like lions. However, there are times when I feel sorry for seeing their prey tormented by the many lions, like the buffalo in the video above. He seems to be thrashing around, in pain or asking for help😢

Can't imagine having chunks of meat being pulled from your body and you have to sit there and watch now that misery to the fullest degree

It was hard to see at the beginning of the clip how the Buffalo was injured. Was it sick, been attacked by the Lions before the clip started, had a bad leg, or was it just old or sick?

Quite a big meal for the lions but it's hardly enough for everyone. They need to find another large one soon.

easy meal for the lions, least lions would always try to suffocate its prey first, unlike hyena or wild dogs whose jaws are too small to suffocate prey hence it is often pure eaten alive, much worse for the prey actually

What were the original injury or handicap of the Buffalo ? I would guess was attacked hind-quarters of a pack of Hyenas, but still managed to escape them but extremely exhausted plus the damaged legs, became easy prey for the Lions. IMHO !
