I’m seeing a pattern here I believe. The other buffaloes come to the aid of the one that is attacked. Once the injured one is free of the predators that is its chance to run away w/ the other buffaloes. If it’s too injured and can’t keep up with the herd they are on their own and have to accept their fate.

Only adult males can suffocate adult buffalo. The lionesses generally suffocate Zebras, Wildebeests and others.

Guys at time, this is so amazing, it shows the brutality of nature totally. The buffalo was scared for the whole time till 2:47, when the partner buffalo arrived, the victim buffalo suddenly wasn't scared anymore, and turned around to face the lions calmly. If this buffalo survived, it would have enough experience to teach the next generation, but it was killed and the this successful hunting would help the lions to teach the next generation! Well, the lions need to eat, the lions got a big family to feed. Cycle of life. Life wasn't easy.

Lions have to eat. Don't you think, there are much more buffaloes than lions? I do not feel sorry for the steak at all, I was thinking about the 5 cubs because hyenas and wild dogs can hear the noise of the kill and the cubs could be in grave danger.

Ya I think his spine was already damaged. The lions knew what they were doing.

Its heartbreaking to watch prey getting eaten alive. He didnt even get quick death unlike others. He might have been alive for almost a day. Most of the prey get attacked on the throat part and hence die immediately but here it's not like that.

@@patterns7953 I mean, the lions earn a meal from it, and thus the chance to live another day. It’s not like they do it out of malice or anything. They don’t hold a grudge against the buffalo. As far as they’re concerned, taking the buffalo out in a less painful manner would just take more effort, more energy and more risk of injury. It’s all pragmatism.

If the male was around to help with the hunt, he would have suffocated the buffalo for a quicker death. That's a really harsh way to die but the lionesses had cubs to feed.

Imagine getting saved only to end right back up to needing to be saved again

Most Wild Buffaloes are known to be Adamant not to run away in a battle.

There's not much that other buffalo could have done. His buddy already had a gaping wound on it's back, which it most likely would have died from in the coming days. As well as having it's leg injured.

These Three Female Lions Are The Badest.. Worked Hard To Bring Down This Prime Age And Very Healthy Male Buffalo. It Looks Like The Lionesses Did Hide Their Cubs Somewhere Around During The Heavy Fight With Buffalo, And After They Brought Down The Buffalo Two Of Lionesses Went To Bring Cubs For Lunch. Wow, three lionesses brought down that big male buffalo. The good part was that even though it lived for quite awhile after it was attacked, there was no way that animal was going to go very far before it gave up the ghost for good so the lions could eat and the cubs were big enough they could eat too.

The buffalo decided to be generous towards the end .

There is no doubt that the buffalo is sick or old. That is why he does not have enough energy to fight or even flee to the herd. But the other buffalo that came to his rescue was completely healthy, so he came twice and had no problem in confronting the lions and expelling them. The video is really not for the faint of heart. The lions probably didn't manage to kill the buffalo before eating. It is also not easy for lions to kill a buffalo. It often happens that a buffalo takes a lion on its horns. Lions have great respect for oxen.

I would be the buffalo bull instead of the lion.

Bufalo must make an alliance of army to take down all lions and other predators.

Despite the fact the lions are powerful and strong animals, but they always hunt in a group which helps them to always kill the prey, i cannot imagine bad it was really a bad day for the buffolo

Well, why wouldn't they suffocate him, as it is known about lions and lionesses, that they suffocate their prey and do not eat it alive. What an ugly way, and it is not so familiar to them.

Lionesses didn't want to risk having an injury they suffocate zebras, wildebeast and deer but usually suffocating Zebras and buffalos are mostly done by adult males not young ones.

Why didn’t the Buffalo go with his mate,he went towards the lion 😢

I love how the buffalo screams calling for his daddy before being eaten.

Males rarely can take down one alone. Usually they have females wear it down since they are faster and have more stamina, then the males go in for the kill.
