Hey guys, it's been three hours since I put this video up and I can't even begin to thank you for sharing your stories and love. I am reading each comment and loving this strong community we are building together. I'm thinking about doing a how to dress when you're bloated type or video if anyone would be interested? Or maybe including something else too like how I pick yourself up? Let me know your suggestions - I would love to share anything I can :) (I have become quite the expert at dressing my basketball bloat if I may say so myself!) xxx

Hi Amelia, have the doctors ruled out CELIAC DISEASE? It's a serious genetic autoimmune disorder where you are severely allergic to gluten. Even food that you are supposedly fine with can be dangerous if they were made in the same factory with gluten. Cross-contamination is a huge problem for Celiacs. That might be why it's so random, because you can't know which of your food might be contaminated with gluten. All your symptoms seem to fit, the stomach cramps, the exhaustion, the bloating. I read a story about a woman who've had stomach problems since she was little, she went to multiple doctors and none of them can find anything. They eventually told her that it's all in her head. But she eventually was diagnosed with celiac disease. I hope you feel better soon, Amelia! Love

So proud of you for posting this. I struggle REALLY badly with my stomach, I mean like, I cry and my family have wanted to take me to the hospital before because my bloating is so bad that I actually cannot move sometimes. I really struggle and like you, don't know what it is: some days it's pasta, some days it's bread, a lot of the time it's when I'm mega stressed but I do struggle so badly to the pointwhere my stomach is like a hard basket ball like you said and I look like I have twins, but it hurts so much right across the middle like I cannot breathe. It was so good to watch this and know I'm not alone. xxxxxxx

Amelia! This video is so so brave. I've had digestive issues for over 10 years and none of my doctors ever wanted to help me because I was so young. Everyone's body is different, mine gets so much worse with stress and an unhealthy diet (plus I've noticed a few food items that triggered it) I've also found exercising really really helps. I was so embarrassed that I was the only one going through it and it would literally stop me from living life. I wish I had a video like this when I first started going through it. So proud of you, keep going and you will find either a diagnosis or lifestyle changes that will help you. Most importantly, don't allow this to control you. I lost SO much weight by allowing this to ruin every meal for me. It's a constant struggle but it will get better ❤️

I have 8 illnesses and have had chronic pain for 4 long years. I've had 4 surgeries since I was 16. Three of the four surgeries were for Endometriosis and one was a seven hour long splenectomy. Health issues suck wheather it's physical or mental health or both. No one else around me really understands it. It's awful to go through it alone. My mom and I feel like everyone just abandoned us because they couldn't understand what was happening. It's the worst feeling. As far as advice, I would say to keep searching for a doctor that LISTENS to you and makes you feel heard and not crazy. I've seen so so so many docors in the past 8 years. I used to go to the doctor up to 3 times per day, 5 days a week, every week. It's a full time job except I was spending money instead of making it. Also try to find chronic illness support groups online or in your area and just vent and talk and get advice and listen. Chronic illness sucks, but I promise you're not alone

Madeleine Gerlach hi there. How did your endometriosis surgery go? Was it to help w menstrual cramps? My doctor recommended it to me because I suffer from really bad menstrual cramps but I'm not v sure about it and whether it will get rid of my excruciating pains. Would like to hear how it has helped u!

All of my endo surgeries didn't help with the pain, but I've heard amazing results from other women. Watch the documentary "Endo What?" It's very informative and so true. The only thing that was helpful from my surgeries was the diagnosis of stage II endo. The thing that has helped me the most was a very specific kind of pelvic physical therapy done by a urologist. I did PT with actual physical therapists for like 2 years and got nowhere but Dr. Weiss helped me so much. Endo is a horrible disease, so I hope you don't have it. Do you have other symptoms besides bad cramps?

There's nothing to be ashamed about wanting a diagnosis, regardless of how sucky that diagnosis could be. I've been ill for five years this months and only last month was I actually told what was wrong with me. Test after test came back clear and I just got more frustrated because I KNEW something was wrong. I promise you, you WILL find someone who has a lightbulb moment and thinks about testing for something a little out of the box. Sending lots of love and good vibes. P.S. you will give up caring about talking about TMI things. Poop comes up all the time when dealing with GI things!!

BellaAtkins I could not agree more! A diagnosis is essential in my opinion. Without one, you are always wondering. There is also nothing wrong with "hoping" you have a particular illness, because you finally have an answer. I do not have gut issues, but I KNEW I had Multiple Sclerosis and no one would listen. I have also dealt with anxiety, panic and depression for over 25 years and all of my symptoms were dismissed as "stress related". Once doctors hear you have an anxiety disorder, forget it - they tune out and assume everything is due to stress. It took 4 years, an untold number of tests and visits to 19 different doctors and specialists, but I was finally diagnosed with MS 10 1/2 years ago and it changed my life for the better! So please don't stop seeking answers or allow others to dismiss your symptoms as stress or anything psychosomatic. I can tell you that having a definite diagnosis is life changing. Please keep trying and please stay positive, because the answer is out there. Someone will eventually have an "a-ha!" moment and all the puzzle pieces will fall into place. So much love and support to you, Amelia as well as anyone dealing with health issues be they physical, emotional or both xoxoxo

I completely agree with you about needing a diagnosis. It's just one of those things where you would want one. I've been ill on and off for about 3-4 years and I still don't have full answers. I have parts of the answer but I don't have the full thing and it's the worst thing not knowing what is wrong with you.

Amelia, have they tested you for Celiac Disease? I am 52 and wasn't diagnosed until I was 40. I went through all of the symptoms you are describing, including the testing for Crohn's plus endless problems with my reproductive system. Please insist that they test you and don't let them pass you off with anti-depressants. At one stage, I was put on lithium and told that I was bi-polar, only to nearly die from the medication. As soon as I was diagnosed, I was a different person within two weeks. Best of luck to you, my dear, and don't give up. ❤️

I am so, so sorry to hear that you went through this. My sister (also celiac) went through a very similar experience. Even though she didn't show up as celiac on conventional tests, when she changed her diet as a celiac would, all her symptoms disappeared. I don't think the testing methods are sensitive enough sometimes. I really think your comment will help a lot of people so thank you for sharing X

Hannah Galpin The testing isn't very sensitive though, unfortunately. My sister didn't test positive as celiac but her life and health changed when she stopped having wheat and gluten. Now doctors agree that she must have been celiac. I think it's quite a common experience.

Obviously, you didn't read the length of time that it took them to test me. From the age of 3 until I was 40, the medical profession turned a blind eye to my symptoms. This wasn't a case of 'old medecine' either, as I am in touch with countless people who are going through the same or similar issues today.

I was 'diagnosed' 4 months ago, I suffered everything you suffered Amelia! I swear I was so TIRED of not having an answer and even when the doctors talked to me and said that I might have the celiac disease everything changed. I changed up my diet + got an allergy test and even though I am now really restricted on food, I feel better than ever. And don't settle for only one test, I got a negative result on the first one and a positive on the second try, because my doctors were pretty sure I had it because of my symptoms.

Hey Amelia. I don't usually write comments but I had a similar story to you. I got really inconclusive answers from specialist gastro consultations who ran lots of tests and found nothing, then I went to a new GP who took a regular blood test and found my liver function test came back deranged so re took the blood and found my bilirubin was spiked really high. He diagnosed me with Gilbert's syndrome. At first he said this had no symptoms bar jaundice so to me this didn't explain my symptoms (just like yours) and I was at a loss. But then I researched the syndrome and found a forum with people who also had the diagnosis. They all reported similar symptoms - IBS symptoms such as bloating and stomach pain, nausea, fatigue, foggy mind and difficulty concentrating. Apparently a lot of GPs aren't aware of these symptoms as they just learn about it through a textbook. But everyone out there with Gilbert's report the same kind of symptoms. It may not of been picked up with any blood tests you've had because it flares up and down. Triggers include stress, lack of sleep, irregular eating. There is no cure for it, mostly because as far as doctors are concerned it has no symptoms. So really the diagnosis doesn't help except for putting a name to a multitude of symptoms. You may not read this, but if you do its at least another potential option you could research. All the best

I noticed when I read comments from any youtuber that it doesn't show the entire comment. I'm not sure which comment because I kept adding. Lol. But, a probiotic helps. I buy Primal Defense by Garden of Life. Google it for a good price.or if you have a Vitamin Shoppe brick and mortar store is where I buy also. It was recommended by my doctor and if you take it faithfully like I should, it does help. My daughter says it helps her too. Of course yogurt has the good bacteria in it, but, a probiotic I think works a lot faster. I was also saying have the doctor check your vitamin levels too because, I find that I'm low on D, B12 and I take supplements. I hope this helped. Take care.

Have you ever considered doing a full blood panel? I know you've probably already gotten one for food allergies but they can test for every type of food out there as well as medications, chemicals, ect. that you might be allergic or intolerant to. They can also test for things like hormonal imbalances or for other chemical imbalances in your body.

I'm fructose and sorbitol intolerant too. It took almost 18 years to found out, I went from doctor to doctor and nobody knows about that this time I guess. The last two years of not knowing about my intolerance I spend almost every night with my head over the toilet and crouched on the floor for hours. I couldn't live a normal life back then. I went almost crazy not knowing what was going on and some people thought I overacted and it is my psyche that caused my pain. And the most people I know also just know about lactose intolerance and not about fructose and sorbitol, especially 10 years ago. ( and sorry, english is not my first language ;) )

My heart breaks for you. I was diagnosed with Crohn's at 20. Even now I still feel betrayed my body and the lack of control has been as much of a challenge as the physical symptoms. I was underweight with all the symptoms you describe. I remember the doctors thinking I was anorexic because I had started to avoid food all together because it hurt. I was so relieved when I got a diagnosis. I cried when you described your disappointment at the lack of a diagnosis. I understand the food obsession. So much socialising is done over meals and food is so difficult for me. I have some foods I can eat some times and not others. I have difficulty with high fat, even good ones like avocado, and high fibre but I need enough fibre to keep things moving. TMI SENTENCE---Bloating, noises, diarrohea and constipation- not ladylike or pleasant conversation. I have all of them and they are not romantic either. Thankyou so much for making this video. I was so lucky that a girl in my younger sister's year had been diagnosed and her family supported mine. Mallory1712 has some brilliant videos on chronic illness, she had Bechet's, and Hank Green has some on his ulcerative colitis too. Just thought they are part of the You Tube family too. Take care and strange as it may seem, as with all adversity it will strengthen you. I learnt never to take good health for granted, the importance of friends and family and it taught me empathy and patience. You are in my prayers and I wish you strength for your journey and that you find answers.

This video broke my heart a little bit 💛 something like this going on this long must be so painful. A suggestion to try..Have you tried a plant based diet? Before everyone jumps on this comment attacking saying I'm being a "preaching vegan", I'm really not, it just genuinely really helped my body. I used to suffer from the WORST stomach cramps..felt sick after eating and soo lethargic all the time, I also didn't go to the bathroom for days at a time (sozz, tmi) but changing to eating plant based has honestly changed my life. For myself it was eggs and dairy that effected me the most, I'd have a slice of cake or a latte then be doubled over in pain later. Doctor after doctor just said it was IBS and gave me some pills but tbh they made me feel even worse, kind of gave me that foggy feeling. I did bloat out for the first week or so after changing my diet, but after it just fixed me? It's just something I'd really recommend giving a go. I hope you find the answer soon💛 big loves xx

Hi Amelia. I really hope you see this. I recently went through the exact same symptoms that you're currently suffering. I've been to a gastroenterologist and had all the necessary investigations (if you know what I mean lol), and nothing came up. No crohns, fructose intolerance or anything of the sort. Low and behold I was suffering horrendously not just physically but mentally. One day I decided to cut out oatmeal and oats in general..after a week ALL my symptoms had vanished. Turns out I have an oat (and corn) intolerance. These intolerances create what's known as 'delayed symptoms'. I've noticed in your What I eat in a day videos that you do consume oats. I suggest cutting them out and seeing what happens. You must stick with it though! As the symptoms present for a while after you stop consuming them all together. I know how mentally taxing this is but we will figure it out. I wish you the very, very best xx

I went gluten free about 8 years ago, and all of the recommendations in the US say "gluten free oats" are OK for celiacs. But the reality is that even "gluten free oats" aren't really gluten free. They don't have cross contamination from other gluten grains like wheat, but the protein in oats themselves is molecularity so similar to wheat gluten that some countries recommend not eating oats at all if you're gluten sensitive. Rye and Barley are the same way, and for some reason the US classifies those as gluten grains, but not oats. It's super frustrating b/c even though people are starting to understand gluten free in the US, I still have to explain "I can't eat oats, even "gluten free" oats". People often rely on the gluten free label, and since the US thinks oats are gluten free, people have gotten me lots of special food (which is super sweet of them!) that I still can't eat. It also means that unless a bakery commits to not using oats at all, even 100% "gluten free" bakeries are still probably cross contaminated (for me anyway).

Amelia - 10 years of me struggling with bloating, farts, pooping 40 times a day, hundreds of hospital visits, countless steroids, a diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis- I am currently in hospital AGAIN.. this time the most serious time of all - my large bowel is now being removed.. and I never thought I would say this. But I can't wait for it to go. No more pain. No more diarrhoea. No more low iron, no more blood transfusions.. I am having this blasted bowel removed and yes I will have a stoma - a bag.. but 10'yrs of suffering will be gone. You're not alone, there are thousands of us suffering. Please push for a diagnosis. Chron's isn't what you want, neither is ulcerative colitis.. both horrific illnesses.. medication for both are awful. Whatever it is - I wish you so well my dear xx I will try and keep strong here in hospital. Whilst I await my major surgery.. Xx

Stina Egeberg I completely understand what you are going through. I have Crohn's disease and have just had my fifth abdominal surgery. At 22 I got my ileostomy and it has truly been a lifesaver. I understand Amelia wanting a diagnosis no matter what it is as once you have an answer you can start the treatment. But she truly does not want to have UC or Crohn's disease. They are a nightmare. I have suffering so much over the past 36 years and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Nobody wants to go down the surgery road. But it is amazing what can be done. She HAD been with symtoms since she was 16. in horrible pain on her wedding day. dear amelia :) I have stomach issues for more than 10 years now and my cramps happen on a daily basis. A lot of it is psychological in my case but not all of it and no doctor had an explanation so far. I kind of know what you are talking about and I know that it is so deeply frustrating since it does affect your daily life in such a painful and annoying way. Stay strong though. Just want to say how amazing you are for powering through this struggle and for sharing! It honestly REALLY helps and I can't thank you enough. I'm someone that has had undiagnosed neurological problems for over a decade, and I know that sometimes the hardest part isn't even the symptoms but just the not knowing. Though I'd say the actual hardest part can be the feeling being alone, like you said. Even though each disease or disorder can be totally unique, it's so refreshing and comforting to see someone go through similar struggles and share it publically. Best of luck for a diagnosis, Amelia! And if not, you continue to be the amazing and strong you that you are.

I know exactly what you are going through. I had all of the same symptoms you do and all of my tests came back negative. I went through 4 doctors and I felt like all of them thought I was crazy! The 5th doctor finally did an endoscopy and took biopsies and I finally found out I had celiacs disease. When they had done the blood test before for celiacs it came back a false negative. It can be so frustrating. Every time a test came back negative I would break down and cry also because I just needed to know what was wrong! You are not alone ❤️

Amelia, have the doctors ruled out CELIAC DISEASE? Love

Hi Mia! I just read your comment and wanted to say I have ulcerative colitis as well and know how isolating it can feel to have a digestive disease that most people don't know much or anything about. Are in you the US, by chance? If so, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America can connect you to local support groups where you can meet people in person to discuss what treatments you're on, what you've been struggling with, etc. I live in mid-Michigan and have found a group in my area that I've enjoyed meeting with.

I was diagnosed two years ago after a pretty arduous couple of months with no answer and some pretty serious weight loss. Hope you're well!

God Bless You Girl...I was diagnosed with colitis over 10 yrs ago. Luckily, with the 2 first tests, I knew what was wrong. So many people do not realize how disruptive gastrointestinal disorders are. I have to take 2 horse pills 3 times a day, my chances of getting colon cancer r very high, stomach pain daily, yearly invasive tests, always watching what I eat, & I stopped drinking alcohol - which helped immensely. I will keep u in my prayers. You are stronger than you think. XOXO

I had these symptoms and looked for answers for years. I got so many tests done and felt the same way that i wanted an answer. Eventually, and by accident, we found out that my gallbladder was infected. After removal, my stomach has slowly gotten better, even though I still eat healthy and don't have dairy (people with gallbladder issues get affected by certain foods). The thing is, no one thought it was my gallbladder, as i don't have any of the risk factors for it. It may be good to get an ultrasound higher up just in case, and sending you love and strength at this time.

Hi Amelia, just wanted to thank you so much for speaking out in such a raw, unedited way when it comes to your health issues. I'd been struggling for the last 8 months with my issues getting really severe in the last month and a half - two months and yesterday I was finally diagnosed with mild chrons disease and severe irritable bowel disease, separate to the chrons. I can tell you I know exactly how it feels going to each and every test and praying that's what you have to you finally have an answer and can do something about it. It is so debilitating and isolating having IBS problems, especially when you're young, and you feel so alone. I can't even tell you how much stress and fear of judgement used to affect me, but yesterday I finally opened up and told everyone about what had been going on and what I had been diagnosed with! I really hope that they do find out what's causing your issues. I was lucky enough to find an amazing specialist, I hope you do too!!

Awe Amelia this was so brave and honest, I'm crying with you... I remember breaking down in front of my GP due to the horrendous symptoms my chronic IBS & Pernicious Anaemia gave me.. The debilitating pains and episodes, and the helplessness I felt as I went through test to test, diet to diet, seeing no improvements. They are the invisible battles I've had to live with, and fight against my entire life (mine is hereditary), so I feel all of your sadness and frustration. It is so brave of you to talk so honestly and openly about this, and let people know that they are not suffering alone! I am so sorry Amelia for all that you are going through. I don't struggle with gastro-intestinal issues but my husband was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis about 2ish years ago, so I can somewhat understand how you are feeling. Stress was a big cause of my husband's flare ups and and last year he was at home sick for 2 weeks and lost 35 lbs! It was incredibly scary but thankfully he has been able to manage his stress levels and hasn't had a significant flare up since. I pray that you will regain your strength and health and that you don't encounter anymore doctors who don't believe you (i bet that was SO frustrating and discouraging). Best wishes! xoxo

When I was 21 I went through a very similar experience with similar symptoms. No one could figure it out but I literally couldn't eat or function sometimes for days. It wasn't connect to food or really anything it seemed. Once I was out of college, it got even worse because I was job searching and didn't have a car so I couldn't even see my friends or boyfriend unless they could drive 30 mins to me. I felt like a failure on all accounts and even when I finally got a job, I was calling in sick for flu like symptoms several times a week. Finallllly I found a specialist who knows the ins-outs of IBS and immediately upon touching my stomach area knew what was going on. Turned out my family has a history of anxiety induced IBS and I just needed to learn how to deal with that in a way that worked for me. I still have bad days, but I've been significantly symptom free for 3 years now! I know you'll find what works for you

I can't begin to thank you for sharing your story. Your complete list of symptoms are my symptoms. Many many doctors, many many test and no answers. I have done ever type of blood test, scan, tubes up and tube down and no answers to the pain, bloat, and sick feeling in my stomach. I have cut out all process foods and pretty much live on a vegetarian diet. Only to find the foods that are best for me are still causing major bloating, fatigue etc etc.... I am still on the hunt for answers. My issues flare up all to frequent and hold me back from living and enjoying life. I hope you do future updates !!!

Stay strong Amelia... Focus on getting your health back to optimum level... 2 years ago I woke up in severe pain all over my body after a severe case of food poisoning, overnight I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and was looking to spending the rest of my life on DMARDs and medication usually associated with cancer patients. I felt my whole world crumbling around me, and felt isolated and I have 2 small daughters... I was not willing to take any sort of medication and went to see a naturopath and I started my journey of completely overhauling my diet and I can tell you I am pain free and living life without any drugs I understand I was given a diagnosis, but I was so focused on getting myself better and determined I did it.... sending you love Amelia and I pray for your health and recovery xxx If you can I strongly advise seeing a naturopath Amelia it helped so much and look into Leaky Gut Syndrome (Dr Bergman on YT is great) try do as much research as you can x

I may be wrong, but have you looked into or eliminated other things this could be? Such as female issues, like endometriosis. It can also often feel like stomach pain, and bloating is very common. It just seems a bit weird that you got digestive problems out of nowhere. Read up on endometriosis, it's symptoms are often tricky, and takes a long time to diagnose.

Want to stress this advice too! Endometriosis can cause adhesions to the intestines causing symptoms similar to IBS. I know how hard it is jumping from one doctor to another as I have had to do the same with my endometriosis (one doctor even said that the ultrasound showed I had a benign tumour.....), but a good doctor knows to believe the patient and to do multiple and different tests to rule other things out.

Emilie Bouchard Yes! Sadly it's still a very ignorant world when it comes to endo, even though millions of women have it! It's a man's world! I myself was told by just a basic gyn that everything was fine. Until I went to an endo specialist who was able to diagnose it and palpate it. Endo can come with a ton of different symptoms. Some feel nothing, others get excruciating sharp pains. So I suggest everyone who has any menstrual pain at all, to be vigilant, read up on endometriosis.

Samya Sul I'm sorry to say this, but it is difficult to give specific advice like what treatments and such since we don't know your medical history (and please don't overshare this history as it is a very personal thing!). This is because every person is different and sometimes advice from the internet can cause more anxiety and harm than good. Everyone has a different body and every endo will be different. Some people will react well to medications like Visanne and others not. It depends on the placement of the endo and a bunch of other things. Some people have co-morbidities like PCOS. Some people only need a laparoscopy for endo. It really all depends on the individual. My best recommendation would be to seek out a professional OBGYN that knows endometriosis well as that is their specialty. And if you are not satisfied with the doctor, try seeking a different one - get a second opinion. This illness is not easy and needs multiple treatments sometimes, but remember that you are an individual with individual needs. I'm sorry but that's the best that I can do. :)

Hi Amelia, honey, I am so sorry. Have you looked into endometriosis? When you get a chance, look into the symptoms - I know my SILs scaring actually went into her intestines & it was hard to diagnose, she barely had menstrual issues. I was dx with MS almost 10 yrs ago & it was frustrating with all the appts & walking out feeling confused, disappointed & helpless. Continue to be your own advocate - you're doing a great job so far. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts & prayers. I'm sorry this has been so hard for you. xo

Jennifer Micek I had a bunch of ultrasounds (external and internal) and other tests (MRI etc) to see if I had endometriosis because of my symptoms and each doctor said nope it looks clear everything looks great. Then because of another Chronic illness my doctor decided to do exploratory surgery and guess what?!? I think you guessed, but I had a ton of endometriosis all over the place. It can attach to your organs and web together and honestly they often don't see it unless they open you up. Which sucks. My surgery was three years ago and painful to heal from since they removed and burnt off so much and apparently it could all be grown back by now so eventually I'll need another surgery. My mom had this too. More importantly though, I'm so sorry to hear about your health situation!! Wish there was something I could say... sending you lots of positive vibes!

So powerful to share your vulnerability with so many people this way. We all love you so much, and we're here for you ♥ I'm sure that you've been told with any type of auto-immune disorder or issues you described, one of the biggest symptoms is negative self-talk. Make sure you're taking time each day to do something powerfully kind to yourself, full of compassion -- meditation, journaling, a walk with your favorite drink. Find the support you want from others and give it to yourself as often as possible because your condition can be almost worse on the emotional mind than it is on the body. Love love love.

Oh, Amelia!! This killed me. I'm a nurse (pediatrics), definitely not an expert, but I just wanted to say that there is a widely-held misconception in medicine that GI issues can often be tied to psych issues or even drug-seeking... so I can imagine it can be difficult to find a professional who is a good listener, especially when your symptoms aren't present on examination. It's impossibly frustrating to hear from someone in the medical profession that you're "just overeating" or that it's all in your head, etc. Keep seeking other opinions, continue to do your research on professionals and find the right doctor for you. Someone who is willing to hear you out. AND KEEP TAKING PICTURES. Also, it may be a bit hard to find, but there are pockets of the internet, especially Instagram (try #spoonie), of people with chronic illness (GI included) that are very open and friendly. I follow a young woman, Sara Ringer, on social media (she has a YT channel, but does not regularly update) and she has a wonderful, personal yet well-researched blog about her journey with Crohn's, gastroparesis, and more. That may be a good place to start!

Hi Amelia, it was so consoling to view this video. I have had the same thing for years, seen multiple doctors and gotten no results except for a diagnosis of IBS. This is really frustrating because I am in medical school and can't even figure out what it is. I have tried numerous diets, cutting out grains and sugar worked for me, but sometimes I still have flare ups. I am currently trying Colostrum with is a 30% IgG immunoglobulin, you can find it at health stores. This has worked wonders for the pain and bloating. Maybe give that a try, keep in mind though that this is a more holistic approach which may not work for everyone (same with the diet). It has been a good lesson for me, someone who is so scientific minded to reach out and integrate different types of medicine. I hope you find some relieve.

I sent a mail to Amelia just in case she may miss this among all these comments. I'm also pasting the mail here so it may also help someone else. "I stumbled upon your health update video yesterday and I felt obligated to write to you and tell about my mother's story even if there is a remote chance that you have the same condition. About 7-8 years ago she began to have a really sharp pain in her stomach with a really bizzare swelling in the abdomen. It was jus like how you described, not like regular bloat, stiff like a basket ball. Also the pain was intolerable. Sometimes lasting for days. She couldn't walk or even talk. She went to at least 5 doctors. She was diagnosed with many things, infact those were not diagnosis, just guess work. They though it was her kidneys, her liver, intestines etc etc... Nothing worked. She endured that pain for 8 months. Then the 5th doctor just asked her a few questions and said that it was FMF, short for Familial Mediterranean Fever. This condition is almost impossible to diagnose with traditional testing methods. It is not even show up in ultrasound. And it is treatable. Now my mom is taking a pill everyday and she never experience any attacks. I dont know if it is your case or not and I heard you said that you gave up finding a name for your condition. But it is really crucial to treat FMF so you may consider asking your doctor about it. By the way this is a hereditary condition, doctors may overlook it in England, since it is quite for from being in Mediterranean, but since your family is originated from around here you may have this gene."

Thank you for talking about this amelia even though it was really hard! Having a serious illness when you're in your early 20s is not really relatable for a lot of people and can feel so so isolating. I'm 25 and last year I had a serious bipolar episode, was hospitalized and ended up needing to recover at my parents' house for nearly a year. It was so hard to talk about with most friends as they had nothing in common with what i was experiencing, and on top of that I had suddenly changed from my old bubbly self due to heavy medications. Thankfully I'm much better now and have gotten back to socializing and working, but thank you for speaking out, it really means a lot. We who are dealing with terrifying, heavy health stuff that is out of our control are not alone!

My husband has such similar symptoms!! It affected his job and he was in so much pain. We thought he had Crohns but it was ruled out so he doesn't have a name or specific way to heal it either. It's gotten a lot better recently, thankfully! A few things he's done to really help has been cutting out gluten (probably the biggest thing that's worked), juicing in the morning to slowly get the digestive system moving, eating cooked veggies instead of raw, and cutting out a lot of protein/fat because it was so difficult for his body to digest. He avoids small seeds (like in strawberries or chia seeds) because he was told they can get trapped in the stomach lining and cause pain (I think this is called leaky-gut). Also, he notices when he eats smaller meals throughout the day, grazing instead of three large meals, that seems to help a lot, too! I hope you feel better soon! Love, hugs, and prayers!! xo

I can totally relate and just hearing you talk about it even though I have been through something quite different but the not knowing what it is frustrating bit is the worst thing to go through because no one understands and there were points when because of everyone I would check with myself if it was all in my head. Then there was the misdiagnosis that only made things worse. Now finally going through treatment is scary in itself becasue its one of those things that has so many side effects that take a toll on you so you can't really tell if it's working or not untill they test you again. Feels good just venting knowing that people may understand.

Ever since I can remember I always had gas/stomach problems. I would have gas 24/7 and my stomach would make this loud obnoxious sounds. I never knew why. I live in America and both my parents are mexican. So just imagine two of the world's worst "diets" full of meat, dairy, eggs, fat, sodium, and other horrible products made with man made chemicals. It was a nightmare. Until I stumble upon the vegan diet and I'm so glad I did. It's been half a month on this new "diet" and so far compare to my old "diet", the level of gas and stomach noises has decreased dramatically. I still have a little bit of gas and stomach problems, but I do think it has to do with bad food combinations. Anyways, So far I love not having any digestive problems and I don't ever see myself going back to a damaging diet.

I have had nausea, lethargy and bloating for the last 3 years and i have so many different labels for what i had, until i got an x-ray on my stomach that showed i had so much backlog (poop...) in my colin that it had actually stretched and the muscles around my stomach were so weak that there was nothing that would 'move it along'... My boyfriend went through a horrible time, he was being rushed to a&e because he would keel over in stomach pains, there was no pattern, he was also bloated and they told him he was having appendicitis, then another time he had gall stones, it was all to do with his intestines and gut, then he went to get a endoscopy camera down his throat and the doctor found out his vila in his stomach were all stunted and they confirmed he was coeliac and couldn't eat gluten or wheat! They went through all these horrible things and then finally it was something so manageable! Maybe ask for them to check your vila.

He never had appendicitis or gall stones! Also he was tired all the time and skinnier in the rest of his body as the vila were stunted he couldn't take in nutrients.

that would be the villi in his intestines and that would be a camera through the back passage ...coeliac disease does not affect the stomach.

I had a small intestine endoscopy through my mouth for celiac... not the back passage

Your symptoms sound a lot like Irritable Bowel Disease. This is a sort of 'non specific' disorder that presents a lot like Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis) but without any of the changes that they see on tests. Unfortunately the medical community know very little about what causes this and therefore there isn't a lot that can be done. The recommended management at the moment is diet (which you are obviously working hard at finding what works and what doesn't for you), so I just wanted to say all your hard work isn't for nothing!

PS. I am a medical student and I have this condition, so I know a fair bit about it :)

Emily, I was just thinking the same thing. I'm a dietetics student so we definitely touched base on this. I have a feeling that it could possibly be Irritable Bowel Syndrome too (if there's no rectal bleeding involved)... the chronic abdominal pain and bloating may point to this! Hope you feel better Amelia! If it could be stress, maybe try out Acupuncture. :)

The rectal bleeding can be from hemmorhoids, too. The bleeding doesn't have to be caused by UC and Crohn's

Oh bless you! I'm so sorry you are having to go through this! I just found out my 1 year old has a severe milk and nut allergy 2 days ago so this video really resonated with me. hang in there and I hope you feel like yourself again soon.

Hi Amelia! I'm so sorry this journey has been so frustrating. I cant even imagine! I suffered from similar stomach issues and I went to see a naturopath. I actually had bloodwork done to test for food sensitivities (not allergies but sensitivities). I tested highly sensitives towards SO many things. It was no wonder my body was so bogged down fighting to digest all of these foods. I'm sure this is something one of the many doctors you've been to have discussed - but I wanted to mention it just in case it could help because it's something that really helped me. Thinking of you and sending positive vibes!

It is most likely not this, but I wanted to mention it just in case. Have they scanned (CAT scan) for cancer? my mom had Ovarian cancer with many similar symptoms except with the addition of nausea. None of her doctors did a scan of that area so she had to take herself to the ER because she was so sick and that's where they finally diagnosed her. Like I said it probably isn't this but you may want to get scanned to rule this out

I know exactly how you feel, I've been through the exact same thing about 3 years and remember feeling so relieved when I was diagnosed with Crohns but it is a horrendous disease and I've had to have major surgery because of it that effects me every day so please don't wish for this terrible disease 💗 I hope you get an answer and relief from your pain 💗

I have Crohns too! I wouldnt wish it on anyone but I completely agree, it's a relief when you finally have a diagnosis and a name, from then on you can focus on treatment. Hope you're well! :)

Hey Amelia I am so sorry you've been struggling with this! I have acid reflux and ibs and i've been there 100%. It is a so hard to deal with when doctors and many people around have no idea how to help you. I feel for you with the bloating, my stomach gets like that for random months at a time and it is so hard to feel confident and wear clothes because they don't fit. I used to eat like you before I had to change my routine as well. A lot of people always tell me it could be worse but that the worst part about it! No one knows the symptoms you are dealing with and how they personally effect you. It's really upsetting but I'm glad you made this video because I feel less alone and I know a lot of other people feel that way too.

I have Crohns and know just how it feels to be embarrassed by symptoms and feeling "needy" around others. Its a long journey! Im so glad to hear you are starting to get there. I cannot stress the value of psychotherapy ENOUGH. Its not always fun, but therapy feels GOOD. It has helped me so much. Good luck! Reach out for support and help. Don't try to do this alone!
