An Evening with Caitlyn Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner, Author of The Secrets of My Life; Twitter @Caitlyn_Jenner
In Conversation with Judge LaDoris Hazzard Cordell (Ret.), Chair, Santa Clara County Jail Commission
This program is part of our Good Lit series, underwritten by the Bernard Osher Foundation.
Join us for a rare conversation with one of the world’s most prominent transgender women. As former Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner became Caitlyn over the past few years, her personal journey has been public, painful and inspiring. What has her path of discovery taught her about truth, and what has it revealed about the challenges facing the transgender community? Bring your questions, and get ready to hear how a story of pain and deception can ultimately become one of embracing a person’s true identity.

Whoever would have thought that a person's write to religious freedom would not only be threatened but would be ridiculed? We live in a world where right is wrong and wrong is right. And I can assure you if anyone goes near by religious freedom it will be a complete waste of time.

People should not judge other people by gender or gender related issues. HUMANITY AND BEING HUMANE IS A HUMAN THING. ALWAYS JUDGE A PERSON BY THEIR HEART.... NOT THE BODY OR CLOTHES.

Being a Trans woman in South Africa I have only dreams to transition but it will not be possible ever. I find joy watching everything about Caitlyn I can get hold of. Watching this video , listening to everything she tells makes me recall an incident last night when I decided to go for a walk . I had a t-shirt and shorts on with slops. My shoulder length hair in a ponytail. The first vehicle driving past me was a BMW with some guys who hanged out the windows screaming at me names like queer, boudkapper(means arse f...er) Fagged. This is now at the age of 53. My life started with me knowing I am not a boy but my family said I was sick and I saw Professionals from a very early age to get fixed. It didn't work of course and eventually was told I am no longer welcome at my parents house unless I get my act together. I also tried suicide more than six times and ended up in a mental institution receiving shock treatment. The first visitor they allowed was a friend whom I convinced to get me away from there. This was in my late twenties. I have ever since been living a lonely life as I don't belong anywhere. The waiting list to transition in South Africa is 25 years plus I don't have the money. I have now also lost my job and everything else I had. I have been thinking and looking but being whom I am at my age with nothing there is not real possibilities left and although I am not looking for pity but before sitting on street which is dangerous(I wont last long) I have maybe one option left which again would be suicide and hoping this time it will work.....Tank Caitlyn for who you are and letting me dream a little to be me when watching video of you on KZread

Jaco Van Staden Please don’t harm yourself. I can’t say I know what you’re going through, but, after reading your story, I know you are so worthy of love, kindness, and peace. You matter, and taking your life would be a great disservice to the world. Please take care of yourself.

Wait. If a law is passed that allows churches to actually preach the Bible while maintaining the tax exception status given to any charitable organization, he’s “coming after us”? So he fights for people to live and believe with authenticity ...but only if you think the exact same thing he does. How utterly tolerant of him. Unless he wants us in his bedroom, leave churches alone, you giant hypocrite.

I can understand that these people don't want to be murdered or bullied for what they want to become but to demand that they be regarded as a real woman? Who are we kidding here? Are you insulting my intelligence? No matter how good you transformed your outward appearance, if you look like a guy, I know your a guy. If I called you a woman, now I'm just pretending so your feelings don't get hurt. And I'm still PRETENDING. So what's the point?

It all appears to be publicity. Top 100 best selling list, so many interviews, campaign group leader the list goes on. Desperately seeking attention. Still running from reality and truth. Even when asked about considering a relationship it’s all me, me, me and my life. As we all know a relationship is not a solo event.

I read a book about a French transgender, l was a teenager, l am 46, what u go through is nothing compared To what u go through, it's in French, as soon as l remember her name, l ll tweet u her/his name, but again don't put God in this, this only thing that l can't deal with, the rest is up to the choice you made, not God.

OMG so much hate, transphobia, and otherwise, from so many people posting comments. Caitlyn Jenner is an inspiration to thousands of transgender individuals that otherwise wouldn't consider living their lives authentically, openly and honestly. With this kind of hatred out there by so many unknowing and un-knowledgeable individuals, it's no wonder why children, teens, and Adults within the transgender community fear for their safety, and their lives. Why should anyone in today's society have to live in fear from persecution, hate, violence and even death. She is making a huge difference to encourage others to emerge from the shadows. I personally commend her for taking a stand. But i guess all you haters would sooner see the 40% of transgender children and teen's who contemplate committing suicide do so, so you don't have to deal with the topic. And honestly, if you did your research you would know that Medical Community, backed up by scientific research has now amended its definition of Body and specifically Gender dysphoria, as a documented chemical, physiological, and genetic condition. (www.psychiatry.org/patients-families/gender-dysphoria/what-is-gender-dysphoria). The Medical community is supported thru WPATH, World Professional Association for Transgender Health (www.wpath.org/). So, next time you think you know something about a topic you don't understand, do some research first and corroborate your facts before you open your mouth. In other words, think before you speak. All you haters and uneducated wanna be's, crawl back under your rocks and keep your hate to yourself. Homophobia, Transphobia and other hate crime rhetoric are no longer acceptable, and in your hands this lack of knowledge is far more dangerous when it's yielded up by a hateful, bitter person. P.S. I am a white collar professional, post - surgery transgender woman, so this topic is close to my heart, and i know what I’m talking about.

I think Caitlin is a very, very nice person. If I were to meet a transgender person who was kind to me, I'd be kind in return. That's just human decency. I don't understand how someone could harm a person because they disagree with their choices. It makes no sense. I have a few gay friends and to listen to them talk about how they feel society treats them is very sad. I am a Christian and that means alot to me. It also means that although I have my beliefs, I should love above all things.

What Caitlyn Jenner is saying is you must think exactly like her otherwise you will have a challenge. Caitlyn Jenner is being contradictory. I do not believe God makes mistakes. Nobody will ever take my religious freedom away from me... that will never ever happen.
