An episode in lion warfare

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Recently on MalaMala Game Reserve we witnessed a fascinating encounter between the Matshapiri males, the Clarendon males (Matimba) as well as one of the 6 lionesses from the Marthly Breakaway pride. Rangers Theo York, Tim van Vuuren and Pieter van Wyk talk us through the sighting.#malamalagamereserve #itsallaboutthewildlife

    Ikr also one of my favorites is about the 2 sisters that had each other's backs always took care of others cubs like it was it's own. 1hr. long video they had it tough but succeeded. Obviously they have different personalities but until I watched didn't realize how family oriented they are etc. They remind me of wolves.

    Lions are huge wild animals capable of doing tremendous damage. The fact that they don't is tribute to the control and accuracy of their encounters or "fights." They prefer to roar, posture and chase then actually get in close, scratch & bite. It's potentially permanently damaging or even lethal. Females do some interesting things psychologically to de-esculate situations. They even go so far as to pretend to flirt and mate with marauding, strange males in order to protect their cubs. The end of this clip is a perfect example of such a situation. Wonderful sighting! Thank you for posting this clip!👍🏻😊

    Very good commentary .on point .very good picture and sounds .but the competition is tough for those who film the lion life .a few in mind that I've seen or at top of there game when doing documentary of lions .there can be plenty of good movies made about the lions with the right people putting it together .and the good thing about many movies too be made about that they are true .so what you seeing on the big screen is what basically happened in real life in the lion kingdom. Blockbuster hits after hits just like lion king ..

After this in 2018 they beat up one of theirs mothers, Mhangeni lioness,luckly she got away,they also beat up Bboys Nsuku pretty bad. Undisputed queens of Sabi Sands rn.

    When it comes to mating, the female lion has the say about when and how often. In this clip, the female was pretending to mate with that strange male to de-escalate a potentially dangerous situation. During takeovers, the new males will kill any cubs under two years old from the previous males and chase older ones off. So, to trick this male into paying attention to her and not her cubs, she let him mate with her. However, at the end she let him know exactly where things stood!

    Hey, I get it that that safari truck (3:34) is likely armed with serious weaponry, but as lions can easily leap high onto a giraffe's back - with paws all the way to the shoulder (an average of about 11 feet), it's clear that they could easily breach the side of that vehicle! No way would I ride in such a truck in lion country - aren't there inspection requirements?

    @@MalaMalaGameReserve, like animals NEVER react in an unexpected way. Yeah, that might never happen - but why in the world would you take ANY such risk with your patron's lives? Are the owners simply too cheap to install proper safety barriers? Because not only are you risking tragedy, but if that occurred, you might well be sued out of business. And afterward, you can argue with the killer beasts how they violated their protocol or didn't read your blog! BTW, I worked around lions for years - I know how quick and unexpected their attacks can be!

    ricko2301 people begin attacking themselves by first hitting themselves in the eye, then some self hairpulling, then begins the yanking one or two ears off from the head. Self attacking usually comes to a close after this .

    I can see a very big problem in the future since the cub' s biological father will not be of her pride. Lions kill such cubs when not of their own. She may have caused a bigger problem .

  • @minavaan

    @minavaan

    @k max No problem there. She would also mate with the Matimbas and they would accept any cubs whoever the biological father is. Only during a pride takeover lions kill cubs as they have not yet mated with the females.

    I'm wondering about the open cars. It would be very easy for the lions to jump on the platform a start a slaughter. Why aren't there just a cage made of steel, impossible to penetrate or get in for the predators? On KZread, there's a vid where a gepard jumps into the cabin of a car through the opened roof-window, so this kind of danger should be evident for the providers. Driving tourists with this open platform in my opinion is risk of death.

    Unfortunately the sound had to be muted due to TERRIBLE sound/music dubbing. Drowns out the voices which are hard enough to understand (their accent). I learned nothing. The button I'll push is the "don't recommend this channel again". Sorry folks. You should have given it a once over. You know - checked it out yourselves, instead of just dumping it on the internet to make a deadline or whatever the reason was. Perfect example of the saying "haste makes waste".
