An anxious start to orphan elephant Khanyisa's morning as she tries to open the gate all on her own

It was an anxious start to the morning for Khanyisa, as she tried with all of her heart and all of her trunk to open the gate of the orphanage by herself.
Finally, with a little love and a little help from Adine, she managed to open it, and she bolted across through to the land beyond the stables to say a happy hello to her new herd.
After a few morning hellos, they set off into the reserve as they do in their morning routines with Khanyisa. It is incredible to see how, even with her light, pinker skin, their protective legs still mask her presence when walking in a tight formation.
Khanyisa was weaving in and out of legs, following the lead of Lundi's tail as always, but at one stage did a little bolt ahead on her own!
In the bush, she spent her time as usual in the company mostly of Timisa, Kumbura, Limpopo and of course Bubi and Lundi.
Kevin Mwanje, a long-standing member of the Jabulani elephant care team, gave Khanyisa her milk on this occasion. Kevin is a natural, and you could see he loved giving her every drop of milk as much as she enjoyed drinking it.
Soon Khanyisa headed back with Bubi to the orphanage for her next bottle of the day, watch for her sweet trunk movement as she realised they were nearly there :-)

The other elephants seem very aware of Khanyisa's physical and emotional post trauma effects....sometimes she interacts then freezes as if caught in a memory, they immediately stroke her wounded ear, get close, stroke her back, and the older one gives direct feed to her mouth like a kiss, they are giving her the deepest reassurance to heal. Tears come to my eyes often, seeing the depth of emotional intelligence these elephants express.

I am almost 70years old. I want to live long enough to see Khanyisa pass on her love, compassion and education she has received from the Herd to other orphan elephants that that are brought to the HERD.
GOOD AFTERNOON! I love to see PRINCESS KHANYISA EARS FLAPPING AWAY HAS SHE RUN TOWARDS HER NEW FAMILY! LOVE IT!
I just found this video of our sweet Khanysa and also Jabulani and Aldo Fishon and many of the other elephants too from the HERD Orpahnage and I just love how smart little Miss pinkie Khanysa is and that is very good for her because as she continues to get older she will be able to survive as an adult and do what an elephant is suppose to do too.❤️🥰🐘 I have to say that I loved watching her with her adopted mommy too and how they just ignored Adine for calling them bavk to the Orphange and I just had to giggle.😂😂❤️🐘🐘 Such smart elephants for sure. Even seeing Fishon and Jabulani too always makes me smile because I just love those two male Bulls because they both have such a heart of gold and especially Jabulani when it comes to Khanysa.❤️🐘🐘👍🏻 I’m glad I did come across this video because it was an awesome video to watch. Absolutely adorable how khanyisa was excited to meet her family and couldn't wait to open the gate....it was such joy to see khanyisa excitement and her little legs running forward to be with the herd and yet she knows when the day is over and retreats back quietly..... khanyisa and the adult elephant's are facinating,I've learnt by watching video's how intelligent and caring elephant's are towards their young and I've noticed how all the elephant's walk with their caretaker's willingly on their walks to the bush and back,that's amazing,the trust the elephant's have is unbelievable
Khanyisa is so happy and excited to have a herd! It makes my heart full with joy! Elephants need the company of other elephants, and for a little baby like Khanyisa it's crucial. She must learn all her ellie skills from her herd. It's wonderful to see that they love her, too!💕

I have been looking for that LOVE button for quite awhile now.
I love how she is so impatient to join the family that has accepted her as their own❤️ elephants are my fav animal for all the reasons you can see. So so sweet.
My mother always said she would have liked an elephant companion. Too bad she did not live long enough to see this video. What a great job you are all doing there! Wonderful!!! Thank you for your hard work with these intelligent beings. They are magnificent.

I'm so sorry for everyone who writes here, about missing Mom n not being able to share this with her. But from where our Moms are, they're really just so happy we get to see this. Peace n love to u all.
All the caregivers to these elephants are so loving and kind. Khanyisa is a lucky girl.

Just started watching this amazing channel. I'm hooked...This little girl has high intelligence. Well, all elephants do, but this one is exceptional.

Persistent little girl! I adore this glimpse of such joy. 💗 They all love her...it’s amazing. She’s so tiny next to them....but they’re careful not to hurt her....teaching her everything...*sigh*💕 If I were young I’d come help you.

Shes so sweet, just wants to go be with the big elephants. The herd have taken her to heart, too. Its just heart warming.
Elephants are so intelligent. Even as an infant, Khanyisa knows how the gate it's opened. Just amazing

Loved the 3 of the 4 major females (Lundi, Tokwe and Limpopo) lining up, hovering over Kanyisa...with Tokwe touching the baby and advancing a bit... I could really see Tokwe's majestic, maternal spirit in her actions toward Khanis, in her head mvmts, like an elder overseer, befitting her appointment in the herd. Beautiful, rich sequence...Bravo! TY!
So smart! Wonderful to see the baby Ellie want to go see momma! They all take the safety and security of the baby very seriously...wonderful to see the bonding of the extended family!
I love these beautiful intelligent animals and they have amazing smiles. We need to do more to protect them. Covid19 has been a nightmare for all sanctuary’s so if anyone wants to donate please go to there website. We need to save them all and protect them. Khanyisa went to that gate from the time she was "little", remember how she used to try n open it. :-) Now she is impatient to join her family. She knows she's an elephant n belongs w them. I just love it. I love seeing Tokwe too. Big Mama. TY as always, Dr. Adine

Does the herd stay close by the orphanage? Or so they come there every morning and wait for the baby? How do they act when it’s time for her to come home everyday? I love watching her excitement to start her day with them!!! 🥰❤️🥰❤️
Hi I’m from Canada 🇨🇦 and have been watching little khanyisha and am amazed at her strength. I wondered if she might have eye trouble like human albino sometimes have? I love the way the herd protect her so carefully

She's grown so big in the past couple of years. Such a beauty.
I am sure somehow someone with the right skills can make a type of goggles for this baby to protect her eyes. Has anyone sought that out yet?

Just seeking Truth was thinking the same, I wondered how she coped, you know how the small security cameras has 360 dome shape, something like that obviously uv etc, securing would be probably the biggest issue, but then we have uv face masks for horses, so it's possible rather than goggles a type of hood with uv filter fabric could be an idea , just wonder if the other elephants would remove it ?

Just seeking Truth That’s interesting too because her hide/skin has less melatonin’s? So precious how the cows protect her all throw ought the day! Matriarchs gentle giants! ❤️ & they know where the rabbit holes go! 🐇👁👃👁🐇. She’s getting so strong.. easy girl🥰

Shanara Blue : Would some lens type implant similar to post cataract surgery be possible / helpful? There are so many needs to help this refuge? How can individuals help? Is there a donation address?

She's quite the little personality, isn't she? I am amazed by her recovery and how she us thriving under y'all's care. Her new family makes my heart sing. When I see how they obviously adore her, as I have come to do myself.

Limpopo has her moments - she means well, but gets over excited and a little too rough in her play - but never harming. Just a bit over zealous!! :-) You obviously picked up on Adine's "chat" with Tokwe! :-)

Well, she (Limpopo) IS the princess of the Jabulani herd, after all. And, yes, we did hear Adine's words with Tokwe (about Limpopo) and loved how Adine doesn't miss a thing! Still, we love them all!

Adine , if you can get someone to write a Little book about your place and make coloring books you could make some money . Everybody who finds you gets addicted, and all their kids and family Would love that and spread the word. With good presents and family viewing. Just a thought. Wow, that could really Spread in the US. Cost a little to get it started, a printer, but then just add To it and keep printing and selling. Cheaper than tshirts but sell more. I Know UTube takes their share, but you could have a direct number from your Email and bypass costs. Hope that helps . Some good hearted artist might Give their time to help free. It is endless. Calendars too. You are taking videos With really good shots and interduce the Herd. Lol. I know you are awful busy but that would add up. I hope so. I so love all your big babies. You may already have something like this with your safari's but that is a good take home gift to buy too.

She's so adorably cute. It's gotta be absolutely amazingly mind blowing experience helping these magnificent and beautiful Pachyderm Souls....... Will any of these Elephants eventually go back to live in the wild? Or is it a situation that it's not possible to do so for various reasons?...... 💕🐘🐾
