An Aire in the French Fortified City of Carcassonne
Wow what a stunning location! As we track toward the Mediterranean, the medieval city of Carcassonne provides a glorious 24 hour pitstop. Join us for dinner at a Moroccan restaurant (OK it's a kebab shop), and head up to explore the ancient walled citadel. As France's No 2 tourist destination, the inner city was crowded and crazy, but walking around the lices we could easily imagine jousting knights!

Carcassonne, spectacular, I live near here now. Did you know it was the castle set used in the Kevin Costner Robin Hood movie? Masquerading as Nottingham I think. In July and August the town puts on medieval re-enactments in costume.

Good to see the strange yellow painted circles on the ramparts from 2019 have gone! I have memories of seeing that bridge across the river on 14 juillet with crowds staking out their spot from mid-morning to get a great view for the late night fireworks- but worth it as they are the best Bastille Day fireworks in France- quite spectacular as many KZread videos will show!

Ooosh! That hot! It was so busy when we were there, so we stuck to walking around the outer walls and there was a lovely breeze the kept whipping the dust in to eyes!

Loved Carcassonne. If you enjoyed it, then we recommend a visit to Pals, Spain too. Near the French/Spanish border, about 200km from Carcassonne.

We collect flag towels of places we have visited! The Albanian one is another favourite!
the boys walking together it was the same with our two lads when they were younger fighting like cats and dogs at home but when we went on holiday they were like two peas in a pod, looks amazing can't wait till we buy our motorhome

They still had their moments, but generally (unless they are really hungry 🥴) they get on really well whole we are away. Keeping them busy is helpful too 🤣 How exciting, do you have long to wait until you get yours?

@@RoamingRadfords our lads are grown up and there at university now, the Motorhome going to be for me and my wife, to do a bit of touring around Europe and Britton, not sure what we're going to get yet we've got a budget of about £50:000.

Very jealous...always wanted to go, but only managed a speedy drive past on a dash from the med to Caen about 12 years ago as hubby's grandad was really ill and we had to get home quick!!! Its on the list! Great video as ever.
