CAMPING IN THE RUINS OF POMPEII
Can you imagine life in 72AD? In this video we head further south in Italy to the incredible archaeological site of Pompei. After camping (practically in the ruins) at Pompei, we head south to a tiny campsite on the arch of Italy's boot. With a soft sandy beach, this is a wonderful location to cool down and relax after the sizzling temperatures of Pompei.

Loving your European trip adventures so far, Pink Floyd live in Pompeii was my first thought when I seen the Ampitheater, its a great dvd. I was only 1 years old at the time mind 😀
Pompeii looks very interesting. How clever of George knowing about the paintings on the walls.

You should have got a guide. They are so full of information. You will never get the the history without the guides. Highly recommend getting a guide just outside the gate. They take a small group bargin with them. Well worth it. English speaking of course. Well worth it

You took me back 53 years, with that tour of Pompeii, I remember some of the streets you walked down and some of the bath and houses, I seem to remember it was very hot then too. I don’t think Pink Floyd were in existence back then Steve, hence I didn’t visit the amphitheater, loved the little site at the end. Safe travels.

Pompei quite dear to my heart. My Dad was camped just below it in WW2 and was there when it erupted in the 40s. He told me that he woke up in his camp in the next valley to find everything covered in white ash. He walked up to the lava flow and pushed an |Italian coin into it as the lava cooled. I have it on my mantle piece at home. When we went to Pompei we did an English speaking tour which was worth every Euro. We saw their equivalent of McDonalds (mass cooking for the masses) and the " House of ill repute" which was really interesting and funny at the same time. As always LOVE your vids. Enjoy the rest of Italy and looking forward to Albania a country that I know very little about. ENJOY

Pompeii is the source of a lot of our knowledge of the Romans. The ash descended fast enough to kill and preserve a lot. If you had been unfortunate enough to study Latin at school you'd know this.

Hi it might be worth putting airbag suspension on the motorhome then you could lift it to stop towbar grounding out

Sure we can get air suspension but that costs thousands and I think I’d prefer to spend the money on the levelling legs

We were in Italy end of June. Got Covid 3 days into the holiday. Had to isolate for 10 days as we had the new variant. This was meant to be one of our days out. Lol. My Neil works for the ambulance service and was an archaeologist. He’s been wanting to visit Pompei for years. Delighted you all made it. Can’t watch this just now but, we will both watch it later. Hope you’re all having fun?❤️😘😘😘

We are loving your tour as much as we are also loving 'The Rollings Rucks' tour. Sadly we didn't get a chance to speak to you at the Peterborough Show. Why ?? Because we were chatting with the 'Rucks' !!! And when we turned around, you were so busy chatting to others that we didn't like to interrupt. One to the Rucks on that occasion. Next time we'll make it one all. Thanks for your beer mats from the bar though to add to our collection. Loving the videos, Best Wishes, Dave and Sophie xx

Did you not get the Victron Multiplus when you added your solar panels? Multiplus will top up your 6amp supply using your leisure batteries. Important where site ampage is low like that
@RoamingRadfords

Jason we’ve had the MultiPlus for years, we actually brought it over from our last van, and fortunately for that we were able to lower the amps in the software until it stopped tripping the electric

@@RoamingRadfords actually after I posted, I thought about it. Your a/c would have been running 12volt, so the batteries would have been flattened. The M+ wouldn’t have helped because you had no battery power anyway. The a/c should/would have detected mains and thus run accordingly sipping the extra power at 24volt through the inverter. Anyway I’m sure it won’t happen again. Happy hols
Great vlog, just quick question do you use a go pro for your vlog, just thinking of buying for recreation and holidays, the quality of the video is really good, thanks

Enough with the hints Steve. “I grounded out here, caught the tow bar there”. You couldn’t be any clearer. You don’t want air suspension you NEED air suspension. Lyndsay needs to loosen the purse strings and give it the go ahead before you do some serious damage. 👊

Andrew, your right. I was hanging in for the legs but after all this bottoming out I’m swaying to go for air instead
Is the water safe to drink from here when you top up the tanks? Or do you buy bottled to drink

We found the water safe to drink from most places we stayed except the Albania campsite on the beach. We usually drink bottled water anyway.

I'm still surprised you guys don't have a blipper thing for the tolls. When you drive up to them they scan the thing in your windscreen and open the gate without having to get tickets and put money in. They automatically take it from your bank. Would save you guys so much time doing so
