That’s what my dad said. I played her recording for him and he could not believe that she wasn’t a 50 yr old black woman too. Her voice is so rich and soulful and she plays it like an instrument

she is singing to me** not to the beat.. singing to the beat in a jazz song is like saying this opera has a great beat.. not such a thing.

I'm pretty sure this was Amy's first appearance on TV, on Later with Jools Holland. I was instantly smitten and bought Frank as soon as I could get my hands on it. I maintain that it's *even better* than Back To Black; the songs are as good, and more varied, and her voice is *far* more supple and greater in range.

You should definitely react to Wake Up Alone, and Me and Mr Jones for that vintage sound. She perfected that sound. Wake Up Alone is so full of emotion, it's hard not to choke up. As for Me and Me Jones, it's a really fun tune but tells a great story. As does You Know I'm No Good. Just all of them.

First off, excellent hat choice per usual, Uncle Ted. Mojo, love the Redd Foxx/Fred Sanford T. Great voice, should still be here making music. Sad because she was just scratching the surface of her considerable talents. Look forward to your next round of goodies (especially anything I suggest!).

This was her first album and she hadn't hit the heights of Back To Black, but in a way that's what killed her - the relationship she wrote about that got her embroiled in the drugs and booze, plus the fame from that album - the horrible press intrusion. Such a loss but I celebrate every time she opened her mouth and sang her songs; even the other singers who covered her stuff. What a talent. RIP Queen!.

Glad to see her still coherent here. In her later performances where she struggled this grown man could feel a tear welling watching a mega talent peeing down the drain knowing that her best was yet to come. But never got here. Such a loss. Such a shame. And yes Uncle I am your age and I remember the glorious singers you mention. I'm quite sure Amy soaked up their work because I hear them in her as well. I'd bet money her parents were fans of the names you mention along with others. Special shout out to Dinah Washington for What A Difference A Day Makes. Though don't challenge me on the last word in the title as it seems to change over the years from Makes to Made back and forth in my experience.

R.I.P. sweet Amy 💔 She only 19 when she performed this😢 She was so intelligent & witty but had that incredibly unique gift of being able to connect with those who were in pain - her lyrics, her music but combine that with her amazing voice and you have a LEGENDARY artist....gone far too soon....this world & fame was too much for her to cope with. She battled bulimia in her teens/20's, alcoholism/drug addiction in her 20's and the scumbag of a husband that destroyed her (‘Back To Black’ is about him).....he was so toxic, but tragically she paid the price for loving him. Listen to ‘Love is A Losing Game’, ‘You know I'm No Good’, ‘Rehab’ and a couple of covers - ‘To Know Him Is To Love Him’ or Hathaway's 'I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know' - kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZWpmrKOrpsunoco.html mesmerising, haunting and such emotive vocals...basically what she did best. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤 Here’s the trailer to ‘Amy’ - a documentary of the highs and lows of her life and how it ended. Heart-breaking is an understatement: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kWatpauwnbHbfKg.html

I blame the dad because she was getting help but he wanted money so bad he didn't care that his daughter was dying inside took her out of rehab and made her keep touring and singing even though she was tired and trying to fight urges then her ex came back and everything went down hill from there had the dad just left her alone and get help she wouldn't have went back to her ex and she probably would have been alive a bit longer I love Amy winehouse she reminds me of my Tia Valerie (my mom's baby sister) both lit the room and had everyone smiling and both had addiction's but both had beautiful souls
