I was asleep in a hotel with the TV on. Out of nowhere I woke up bc I heard the voice of Amy Winehouse singing for the 1st time. I had to know who had this voice. Unforgettable.

Dude.. I don’t cry very often but every time I hear Amy’s rendition of this song a few leak out against my will. Such a beautiful voice and it’s a shame she’s not with us anymore.

I cherish this song bc my late Mother’s name was “Valerie”..ironically she shares the same birthday, September 14th, as Amy Winehouse. RIP Amy

“You get 3 chances to get into the hall of fame…you just need 1 of 3 songs….” LOL, here you know it from the very 1st second! Amy was a unique talent and voice-there’s a lot more here. Another great, mind blowing, voice is BETH HART. Below are a few performances, similar in many ways to the style and uniqueness of Amy’s ‘Valarie.’ The sample includes 3 originals and 2 covers; the first is with her full band, 2nd is Beth alone at the piano; 3rd at a small night club venue; 4th an acoustic Zeppelin performance, and the 5th (Am I The One), well, there’s absolutely nothing else like it on Earth…. (1) “Caught Out in The Rain” (original about an unhealthy relationship with a dangerous man; from 2018 Royal Albert Hall concert): kzread.info/dash/bejne/nq6YrMhweNTapM4.html (2) “Mama” (original - Beth alone at piano; from the 2004 Paradiso concert): kzread.info/dash/bejne/o2Z4uMOMdLC4fco.html (3) “A Change is Gonna Come” (Sam Cooke cover; from the Echoplex, a small club in her LA neighborhood in 2010): kzread.info/dash/bejne/g6J9rpp6e7q4frQ.html (4) “Whole Lotta Love” (killer acoustic version of the Zeppelin song in a tiny French radio studio, 2012): kzread.info/dash/bejne/nomV19ZrnZe_kaw.html (5) “Am I The One” (epic performance of Beth original; from the 2004 Paradiso concert): kzread.info/dash/bejne/mo57la-gmM6-Y7Q.html

The movie documentary about her called "Amy" blew me away. I'd never heard her before, but am a fan. The movie shows not just her talent, but how and why she succumbed to an eating disorder and addiction.

Her ex husband got her hooked on drugs by the way that's why she was acting weird and Valerie always makes me cry when Amy winehouse sings because my mom's baby sister was named Valerie and the lyrics sound like it was made for her also they died the same way alcohol Amy winehouse from alcohol poisoning and my Tia Valerie from cerosis of the liver ( everyone thought Amy winehouse was going to die of drug overdose) but anyway I remember right after my tia passed away literally we leave the funeral and Amy winehouse Valerie Plays in the car almost like she was talking to us one last time so I can get through the song but my mom can't without crying her eyes out this is the first time in 3yrs for me I've listened to Valerie but my mom it's been since my Tia Valerie's funeral which was 2017 other than that I love Amy winehouse her voice was so unique and so good it's sad that her family didn't let her get the help she needed or wanted

Amy...gone too soon. I was like she's a legend and it only takes one time to hear her to know that. I wish she could have beaten her addiction, I still miss her voice and imagine where she would be now. Another female vocalist with an unusual sound/voice is LP, that's what they go by, LP. Their song Recovery and Lost to You are amazing!

I don't know if you've done this or not yet because I'm working through your collection, but I would be curious if you would do a tiering video. Something where you did who you think of as top 10 in rock, country, etc. For a while you were talking about a Hall of Fame, but I didn't notice a playlist like that on your channel page. I love what you do and hope you and yours are doing well.
