I like you am a Vet I'm from the UK my twenty years I spent in submarines . Since 2013 I I have followed Amira an angel her heart is a warm as her voice I have been to SA four times to see her in concert and watch her open playgrounds for children in schools that can't afford them. Her faith in God is very strong . You have a lot of catching up to do this year she is twenty one and still singing as beautifully. I am 81 this year and Amira is the one of the things that has kept me going to this age and feel privileged to support her foundation to provide the playgrounds for the schools. It melts your heart to see her with the children. It also calms and brightens your heart when a young girl comes off a slide she has not seen before and hugs your leg and says thank you.

Great reaction! Yeah. The bagpipes, the huge stage, the full orchestra, the magnificent choir, the costumes, everything indicates that a queen is about to perform. At the age of 13, Amira sings the first part softly with Michelangelo's brushes and then sings the powerful second part with Thor's hammer. Amira's solo rendition of Amazing Grace is unbeatable and already an indelible part of music history.

One of my favorite songs ever. Had my eyes going moist before the bagpipes ended. Pure clean vocals of an angel to be sure. Just my opinion.

Welcome to the Amira club. There are many who have been on board for years. And you must remember that one of her earliest fans was Andre Rieu who said when he first heard her voice, "I was flabbergasted." The Eb6 near the end is mark of truly great sopranos because it sounds like a note and not like a scream.

Great reaction. This is one of my favourite Amira's performances. During the last minute of the song, her high notes and vocalises are absolutely stunning, out of this world. Anyway, I assume there are several layers in the atmosphere : the troposphere, the stratosphere, and even higher the fairy land where Amira Willighagen sings, accompanied by the nightingales and the larks... 😊

I just think she is the closest to the voices of angels I will hear this side of heaven. You are so right--she is just the best. I, like you, am not a big opera fan. If Amira was in an opera, I would go and probably bawl my eyes out--she just "owns" every song she sings. When I hear Nessun Dorma in my head, I think of her--not Pavarotti. When I hear The Sound of Music, I hear Amira--not Julie Andrews. God has given us a great gift to enjoy in Amira's voice and I plan to listen to her all the rest of my life. thanks again--wish I could subscribe again!

It's not opera. Opera is a form of musical theater. In an opera, classical music and theater are combined. For me she is singing classical songs. Sometimes opera songs, cross over's, film music etc.

@@janeverse4555 I know what you mean--it is not a full-blown opera with sets and dialogue lasting 2 hours. But, Amira does sing arias and so forth from operas--such as Nessun Dorma and O Mio Babbino Caro--so I loosely classify it as opera.

@@janeverse4555 . In this case it is a hymn by John Newton (1725), among others Amira sings. Particularly notable are How Great Thou Art, sung live; and a beautiful early studio version with lovely photography including pictures of Amira as a baby and small child.

Did you ever think that one person would have this much affect on you. I ran out of words a long time ago, but keep waiting for her next performance. I too became a fan.

She is gorgeous in every way. How to describe perfection? People reach for Heavenly, Angelic, or simply Wow. This was the third piece she sang that evening, the 13 year old had already delivered the two opera arias - Nessun Dorma, and The Flower Duet, partnered by Corlea Botha. The videos are available to enjoy. Fortunately there are plenty of pieces out there to find. In 10 years she has released a lot of tracks. We hope there are a lot more to come.
