This song with the English translation of "Viennese Blood" is Rammstein's take on the Josef Fritzl case. The infamous Austrian imprisoned his daughter in a basement at his home and fathered several children with her. Rammstein have never been shy of basing their song on controversial figures. For instance, Mein Teil was based on the German cannibalism case of Armin Meiwes

The story this song is based on is very messed up. Its about a father who locked up his daughter in a basement for 20 something years and had children with her while the mother who was living in the same house had no idea their daughter was alive and down in the soundproof basement/dungeon, while her husband was having an affair with their known daughter and the whole time she didn't know. The band rammstein did asked the daughter who survived the ordeal and is now raising her children if was OK to do this song and she was fine with it.

The song is about Josef Fritzel who held his daughter captive in Austria under the house and even fathered a child to her

The lyrics are terrifying, but Rammstein can do no wrong. Definition of BANGER! 🤘🏻🇩🇪🔥 I had the honor of seeing them live in New Jersey on Sept 6th, last week...it was epic.

The background to the song is so dark so it fits the topic perfectly. The Fritzl incest case is really horrifying.

I have heard that they asked if it was ok if they made a song based on what happened to her..from what i understand it wasn't necessarily getting her permission but more on they had already written the song and went to speak with the victim as well as her lawyers to make sure that it was ok. When they first started performing the song they used to have exploding dolls. Which they stopped doing I believe because they got contacted and were asked not to do that anymore and out of Respekt agreed not to continue using exploding dolls.

As far as I know, Madison Square Garden was not only sold out, but sold out within 30 minutes. That's a completely different matter! ... and that with a band that sings exclusively in german!

This song, and the song "Puppe" are their two most intense songs, imo. Composed similar with a shouting chorus and whispered verses. Although I think this one takes the cake for most heavy.

Sorry, but I'm disappointed by this reaction. I leaned that you don't like to deal with the text or backround, but here you really interrupt and giggle in one go. The background story is really shocking and disturbing, but with you it's a party, which again gives me a disturbing feeling, especially because you don't mention this true story with a single word (and yes, the video is also available with subtitles and the background). And no, not all Rammstein songs are hard, ever heard the ballads like Stirb nicht vor mir, Diamant or Nebel? I'm also disappointed because this makes it clear to me once again that most reactors only want to generate clicks and don't really have anything to do with the artists they react to.
