Americans React To Best AFL Marks in History
AFL is one sport I really want to explore, it is that time of the year to enjoy some Australian Football League but these catches are truly impressive in its own world, they show the true athletics of an AFL athlete.

Mark = Ball kicked (not hand passed) + travels more than 15m over the ground + not touched by any other player + catch with control of the ball (even if for just half a second). Its the combination of these that makes a mark more than just a catch. Taking a mark means a free kick is awarded to the player who caught the ball, at the position the catch was completed.

interesting to see you reactions. The weird thing is it’s illegal to push someone in the back, but if you do it with your knees or legs trying to take an overhead mark, no problem! Aussie rules is a great game insofar it demands all round skills - professionals have to be able to punt and catch the ball and tackle, also run a lot. A free flowing game, main downside is that can chaotic with a lot of fumbling in a game with less continuity. There were even more great marks taken in the old days - 30-50 years ago. Watch out for Gary Ablett Sr and Alex Jesaulenko.

Last year, the NRL was Australia's most watched sport, with 171.8 million across the season. The AFL was around 141 million for comparison. This is in both leagues annual report btw. NRL also have a higher social media following. Regarding memberships, that is an AFL specific thing which the NRL has only adapted in the last decade. But even then its silly. Apparently the Giants offered free memberships to kids who did Auskick so now the numbers are all blurred. Also to add on this, NRL has never needed the revenue from memberships as the AFL did, as the NRL make plenty of money from their leagues clubs. Penrith are the richest team in the country.
