My ex used to work on post production for this show, every time they had a rough cut ready there would be a "get the lawyers in" meeting to check what Frankie had said before anyone would approve it for broadcast. You should have seen the stuff they crossed off, there was a lot that they just took one look at and shook their heads

The "I only wish Hitler was alive to see this" joke is also a reference to Pope Benedict XVI, who was pope from 2005 to 2013. As a young teenager he was a member of the Hitler Jugend, as were all boys, at 14. It's not a thing that's easy to put behind you, especially when you're elected Pope.

Not all boys. All boys were enrolled, but not everyone kept showing up. The Edelweiss Pirates was a rebellious movement of boys and girls who resisted taking part in HJ and BDM for the girls, and organised their own hiking, camping and hanging out, as well as getting into fights with Hitler Youth patrols trying to force them back. Some took part in the German resistance and got hung.

Look out for Frankie with a huge Irn Brew coloured beard, as he raises the comedy bar ever higher and pushes at the bounds of decency , but still smegging funny and a great payday for the lawyers!

Frankie did a series called 'Tramadol Nights' Absolute madness that rode the edge of acceptability :) It was supposed to be weekly, but it was all shown in about 3 weeks because it was about to get pulled. @DCgameGuy85 1 I am inclined to agree... I always found it cringeworthy that Drew Carey always said "Where everything is made up and the points don't matter" - it is pretty sad when you have to explain the running joke... I really don't know if this is because they thing that makes it more funny, or if they thought the American Audience is too stupid to understand the joke. Either way it is sad, and if it is the latter, then I think it is sad the bar is set so low for expectations. Raise the bar a bit, and maybe people won't need to be spoon served jokes.

**sees 'Frankie Boyle' in the title. Grabs popcorn.** Oh boy, this should be good...! And this isn't even him going full hardcore! Frankie is a legend for going where no other comedians dare to tread. He parted company with Mock The Week after Season 7, due to producers trying to 'rein him in' more heavily, and he's still missed to this day. But Mock The Week is a brilliant show - as you said, similar to 'Whose line...' but with a more political/current affairs quiz element to it. (And it's hilarious when all the other comics start roasting the host, Dara o'Briain, as well.)

Still a fantastic comedian who pushes things right to the edge and let's the audience take the joke over the edge themselves, he's insanely clever in that way, but because a lot of his humour is anti-establishment he gets branded as "offensive", I guess that's how it goes these days 🤷

This didn't include Frankie's most infamous joke. The BBC got in so much trouble for that one. His current show is Frankie Boyle's New World Order. He's toned down as he gets older, but boy does he have a gift for a turn of phrase.

Frankie Boyle has no filter,he will joke about anything. Check out his Audience annihilations, he rips his audience to shreds and they love it. Some of his standup shows are on youtube. You either love him or are just shocked by him.

There’s been a lot of good stuff since, but it did take a while to settle after Frankie, Rory, Russell & Andy left. People like Ed Gamble, Tom Allen, Kerry Godliman, Angela Barnes and the brilliant Ed Byrne (“welcome to another edition of cooking when pissed!”) have picked up the baton really well Do miss the variety of games the used to have though - there’s much more talking between Dara and the panelists these days

I only watched mock the week because of Frankie. It was the show when I discovered him. When he left the show was never the same again. This is my type of humour. The more risky, below the belt, brutal stuff. The more risky, the better. The sort that some find shocked but inside they're laughing but to afraid to laugh out loud. Some find offensive, vulgar maybe but it's only what you were thinking
