I get it, because everyone looks the same in the place that he came from, Roger desires to become multiple unique and interesting individuals instead of just sticking with one easy to manage persona who is as common as any other human. He could just dress as an accountant named Bob forever but instead chooses to be a troublemaker named Ricky Spanish or a psychic named Zelda in favor of standing out. Of course he would still be Bob sometimes for the sake of being different, but the important part is that he stands out from everyone else.

@@puppyhowler It was never intended to be a movie, that's false info, but yeah, there's no arguing that it's a great episode. American Dad has lots of episodes that give off this vibe or are wholesome. Almost all of the Christmas episodes in the series, The Tearjerker mini series, The One That Got Away, Rapture's Delight, May the Best Stan Win, Hot Water (albeit the shitty ending ruined the overall episode), Steve and Snot's Test Tubular Adventure, The Longest Distance Relationship, The Unincludeds, Fart-Break Hotel, Great-Space Roaster, The Two Hundred, Rabbit Ears and A Star is Reborn. Of course there's many more incredible episodes but those give off the biggest 'movie' vibes.

The “how badly” is inaccurate because later it is revealed in that episode that king had the memory showcasing monster deliberately leave out the good memories of him being a great BF.
@Mugruncher
Жыл бұрын
@@idreadFell365 he’s nice, and does do nice things for Hayley and I love them as a couple, but he’s often in his own world so he can also be inconsiderate while not noticing (“HE TOOK ALL THE SYRUP FRANCINE”) and in this moment he’s forced to confront how that’s affected Hayley. And it’s SAD to him. Because he’s a good person who genuinely loves Hayley. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t care about being confronted with that behaviour, he’d be like “so what? I’m not that bad and if I am, I don’t care” He clearly wasn’t fully aware of how regularly he’s been inconsiderate, and when he SEES IT, that hurts BECAUSE he cares. So yeah there’s a lot of good in that relationship, undervalue might be the wrong word for the consistent inconsiderate behaviour due largely to him not paying attention rather than being deliberately cruel

I think Family Guy is just doesn't work when it's serious that was a show based on gags and shock humor like South Park early seasons was purely based on shock humor alone and when that formula was dipping the evolved I think Family Guy stucked to what worked and it's stagnated and when it tried to evolve into something more people didn't take it real serious. They have those "deep" episodes and like them or hate them they don't really work for the context of the show.

I've actually found Seth to be really good at writing. It's just that he does so much voice acting that as he said he doesn't even write his own shows. This whole episode, if extended by maybe 30-45 minutes, would make a fantastic standalone movie. It's perfect, American Dad has always been a special show with a staff that cares unlike Family guy where things like "character development" or "plot" or basic goddam consistency doesn't exist...
@amyschildgamerlive4519

Consistency? The pilot episode of American dad shows stan meeting Roger and taking him home for the first time. SEVERAL episodes throughout the series show Roger having been there for years prior though. Thats just one example.

@@amyschildgamerlive4519 Compared to a lot of shows, like Family Guy, it's more consistent and often times there's explanations for inconsistencies. I think the most upsetting thing about this is how true the song is. It's a song about a lonely man having a dream where he finally meets someone. They then realize they are dreaming but don't want to wake up knowing she won't be there. The ending line reminds the listener that the song is to be taken literally and that exploring it to try and find a happy ending or different meaning (as some songs do) is like trying to live in the dream. There is nothing there. There is no happy ending. Just a miserable man.

I think it’s not a literal dream but a waking dream like an illusion. His love with his woman has turned out to only be an illusion (she doesn’t really love him, maybe she’s cheated on him) but he’d rather keep pretending than be alone It’s a much more brutal song than you think Like if Dale Gribble found out about his wife cheating he could belt out this song afterwards. I think that’s the proper context
@humphreybumblecuck5151

Also his likening himself to the blind implies it’s perhaps his first love, he was inexperienced and a sight for sore eyes to him was awful majestic. His fair weather lover is truly a monster. And he must contend with his illusion shattering

His singing is, unexpectedly transcendent. Downside, I can’t make out all the words, so I’m not sure what he’s trying to say. I think the point is that people fall deeply in love, freed from the darkness of being alone, but when the delve deeper into the relationship, they find there was nothing there in the first place.

The song ironically, is about nothing! it’s all up to the listeners interpretation. “We are obsessed with finding meaning and the band holds up a mirror to the listener wherein we inject our own meaning. Even when they tell us it means nothing and there isn’t a point beyond being a reflective experience in and of itself, we still look for a bigger point. He could just dress as an accountant named Bob forever but instead chooses to be a troublemaker named Ricky Spanish or a psychic named Zelda in favor of standing out.

I love a lot of songs I find from cartoons; But none have ever and I mean ever impacted me like this song. Wax Fang has been one of my favorite bands since I was 17 or 18 when I found this on American dad. They’re so amazing I advise anyone who liked this song to listen to every one of their songs

The anime Bleach has numerous amazing songs.
Obviously my most favorite episode of AMERICAN DAD!!
I love this song ️💙
Been humming this song all week now such an awesome song 😞🤭🖤
I watched this on TV when it premiered and this was one of the biggest highlights of the entire show.
I'm being one hundred percent truthful when I say I would totally listen to this song

It is a real song, the band is Wax Fang
I only clicked because I thought I was looking at a World of Warcraft raid boss. I don't regret my mistake, that was an awesome song.

I love how this show goes so hard with the music when it doesn't have to at all. much like bob's burgers.
This full episode is so Futurama. Funny part is in LATAM translation Jeff have the same voice actor as Fry. I love all the “Jeff in Space” episodes the same i love Futurama.
As much as you try I don't think you will ever find a single problem with this whole episode. Says a lot as was not staring any of the smiths. At the time Jeff was married to hayley but still a recurring character and not essential to the show. So when I heard about this episode I was dreading watching it. But I loved that I was left with egg on my face. As this episode for me is perfect in every possible way. I especially love all the designs on the aliens on the spaceship. Especially Rogers species love the little detail to everyone of them.
This episode hit me deep. . .
This is probably one of the best songs I've ever heard

I'm an old man and I agree. It makes me think about a lot of Elton John's works. That's a hard sound to imitate, and the artist nails it so hard!
Anybody else vibing out to that song ?
"A sight for sore eyes, to the blind would be awful majestic" What an opener 🔥
The reason American Dad is better that Family Guy is moments like this. It’s actually trying to tell a cohesive (albeit random asf) story where as family guy is jokes for the sake of making an episode without any regards to plot. Don’t get me wrong family guy will always have a special place in my heart, but American Dad! is by far Seth’s best show to date. Not sure how it hasn’t won any Emmy

Well it's had 4 nominations at least But Seth is fine with his Emmy trophy case, Family Guy has won about 9 Emmys and had 25 nominations
This is def a great episode and song. It really makes you feel that regret and emotion of thinking you've done your best but don't realize some of things you didn't notice but have hurt other people and want to do better
Being stoned watching this was a major "stuck" moment

Fun Fact: The voice of Emperor Zing, Michael McKean, is the new voice of Grandpa Lou Pickles in the new Rugrats.

Jeff is such a fantastic every man character. Hes nothing special, he's not good at much, but hes such a sweet guy, you gotta love him.
I was in awe at this animated musical theater. Seriously. Just WOW! Out of nowhere and so beautiful. Excellent production on both fronts.
This was like 6 years prior to Rick & Morty.

Such a top tier epi. American Dad is amazing
It's actually a very touching original song. Most songs from this show are silly novelty songs about a more concrete person, place, or thing. This is a poetic song about love.

This song is awesome

Any attempt to glean more is missing the point entirely.”

That burn at the end tho
That ending line kills me after surviving an abusive relationship with a partner who I still find myself missing

Best episode of the series.
This song is absolutely beautiful 🤩
Jeff’s character arc during his space saga was interesting to the point I thought they were gonna follow through until a series finale or a movie, sadly the writers had other plans in mind I guess
Almost 10 years is crazy😢🎉
Still one of the best scenes in tv history❤
American dad always has lesser known bangers. Wax fang is the shit
This could easily be a movie.
