Oddly enjoyable to read through the comments. The best beardos Freemanpedia and Heimler's History have short and entertaining videos on this biggest things in history from the year 1200 to modern day. Crash Course can also be good. As for in-depth explanations, your best bet may be documentaries and Britannica.

@@user-iz6if2gp8y That's the Habsburg family. For a few centuries they were extremely important for the balance of power in Europe. At some point various branches of the family owned Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Italy. Also parts of France. The rest of Europe felt threatened by them (for good reason, of course), and this led to various wars. On this level of detail the Habsburgs didn't have to be included, but it made sense as it's something a lot of people learned a lot about in school.

I come back to this video every now and then and I must say it is really amazing. I would just have one thing to note, it is very frustrating to me that whenever something happens I do not really know when it does happen, I would have really loved it if the year would have been written at the bottom of the screen so that you can better imagine the chronology of it... The video is still a 10/10 tho
