Ambedkar and the Idea of Equality: Dr Soumyabrata Choudhury, JNU, New Delhi

The Talk is based on four ideas of equality: predicative, axiomatic, generic, and dispositional equality. All four ideas are to be found in the works of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Equality with reference to social, economic, religious and educational predicates concerned Ambedkar through his life’s work from the earliest Temple Entry movements in the 1920s.
This is a part of special series initiated by Living Science (www.livingscience.in) for science students to ponder deeply on something other than their research topic.

I've never got such a mighty witgasm before from any other talks on any subject on the internet. I wonder how delightful it must be to take lectures from this person everyday!

Thank you so much for such a nice compliment. It's much appreciated. Indeed Prof. Choudhury is a delight to hear, his knowledge on the topic is nonparallel.

Excellent! Very thought provoking! Watched it several times to understand each & every word. Listened to you for the first time & was led to explore more about you. Hope to read your books and listen to more of your lectures! In person some time if I am lucky. Will like to meet you in person when I visit JNU. I too am an academician.

Thank you Professor for the Brilliant and Excellent Lecture!! I just a have question..the notion of inequality is deeply embedded in our emotions and then in our thoughts which becomes Instinctive.. Through the lecture that the act of 'dispossessional equality' and Dr. Ambedkar himself clarified in Buddha and his dhamma it's been said 'it's a discovery by man for man. It was not a revealtion'. And the word revelation is much related only to god and religious cannotation might be one of the reason ambedkar addressed specifically saying 'it's a discovery rather revealtion'. But one of the actual meaning is 'Revealing something' in the predicative sense. Don't we need a revelation than the discovery when there's something deeply Instinctive in the the fluidity of emotions and thoughts even when it can be discovered in an axiomatic form? Why can't we reveal something by man for man?
