😍Hi Marjorie 💐 LOVE purpuratas!! I cannot make myself call them Cattleyas! The name Laelia is an elegant name as well... and as far as I am concerned fits so much better when it comes to the shape of the blooms. 😅 but who am I to say that? If we were to pick the genus because of the elegance of the blooms, we would have a whole other spaghetti of names to deal with! 🤣 this Maxillaria took at least 3 years to do anything of substance, to even show that she is growing at all, and well, now we have come to weed mode! Its an amazing orchid and I do love anything that resembles coconuts! 🥰 thank you so very much for watching, lovely lady! I appreciate your time and hope you are having a wonderful Sunday 🫶🏼❤️🌸

WOW! How nice of you to share such beautiful orchid flowers with us in this video. You definitely havve a "green thumb"! Your orchids are so stunning. Too hard for me to select just one favorite I'm afraid. Loved seeing the Guarechea. You are fortunate to have so many flowers on it. Mine is thriving, but no more flowers yet. 🦤🦅😍 I am so glad that I could film this video when I did, because the past days have been tornado alley on the patio and well, they already look a little frazzled now, 10 days in. Far too soon 🥲 BUT, we got this video and others coming soooo, at least they look nice there. Today is going to be worse than yesterday, when it comes to wind and then hopefully by the weekend things will have settled down. All your plants that are coming into flower will all be very beautiful. I have some coming in flower now I think it’s gonna be a white one. I think the other ones pink we see whatever happens happens but the one that I’ve been waiting for is my tiny orchid, I think it has a blue on it bit small to say at the moment but we will see plenty of roots new leaves roots coming out the pot galore had it for two years and I hoping it is going to bloom again for me. nice video interesting to see all your plants, we will catch you very soon. Laelias... for me, I just cannot make myself call them cattleyas! I love the purpuratas and calling them cattleyas just doesn't sit right with me. Laelia is such an elegant name and matches these blooms so much more... but, who am I? These genus names get changed on us and then we should adopt them because it would be the right thing to do, but I cannot see such an elegant bloom of a purpurata be cattleya 😅

Wonderful blooms, Nina! Enjoy the results of your hard work caring for your orchids. I'm especially taken by your purpurata blooms. I purchased a seedling purpurata and can not wait for it to reach blooming size! I wish the variety was listed, but the nursery only stated Cattleya purpurata. However, those massive white blooms with a deep purple/pink lip were calling to me 😂. Hope you are well and that your weekend was awesome 😊😊❤

Thank you for commenting here 🫶🏼 I have this ansellia to go, and then I will know what all of mine look like. She seems to be a late bloomer 🤔 my others have bloomed, are going over but yes, they last so long.... it is a wonderful genus to grow! This coming winter, I am going to try something that I was told, but normally do not do because I grow in semi hydro, and that is to keep ansellias much drier during the winter, so that there are more blooms when it comes time for them to push spikes. I have not done that yet, because mine live outside, but... just a thought, if that is what you would like to think about when the cooler months kick in again. Really appreciate you for being here and again, thank you so much for the feedback! I hope you are having a beautiful weekend 🫶🏼❤️🌸

I have to admit that, it is unusually warm for this time of year, so if that equates to a heat wave, then you are absolutely right! I would not have called it that because I have a heat tolerance level that is off the charts, but I know that what I am up against with the 'chiddos on the patio these past days and today, especially, equates to what I am normally doing during July and August. It like the continent cannot synchronize when it comes to what weather is where! I remember one summer, the UK was warmer than it was here on the coast. It's nice here, the UK has rain when the time of year really doesn't call for it. Its cooler here, and the UK is sweltering!! I hope that your cloud cover lifts soon, I mean... it is June after all. I saw Trooping the Color just made it before it started chucking it down. Just the ride back to the palace was drenching everyone except the Royal Family. wait, the OG Ansellia is spiking? Finally? Hopefully the wait is worth it (though it will be hard to beat the dark one for color). My Pacavia looks like crapola but Isfield (Pacavia x warscewiczii) has a sheath on the latest growth, which was surprising because it isn't (to me) a blooming size plant. If it blooms, great. If not, not surprising.

Imagine my surprise 😆 especially seeing as the others have almost bloomed out, I could not believe my eyes 😅 handling with care! 😂 Its going to be hard to beat the Kenya Mud, I agree, but just the fact that we got her to this point from what I received? Sheesh!! I am going to like the blooms regardless (I think!) 😬 My Pacavia had magnesium issues from the moment she arrived, and then again when I repotted her the first time, and then something that looks as if she had spider mites on the back of one leaf, but she didn't have spider mites, then she is fussed and showed nitrogen deficiency! My Pacavia has ALL the things!! The recent growths are clean, bar some scale damage. But yeah, I find her to be hard to get the fert and supplements dialled in enough. But I am loving the depth of color on the blooms now. There is no weird spot on the petal and the color has deepened beautifully! Excited to see what the other piece comes up with... gotta keep that safe and not spoil the attempt at blooming. Needless to say, the other day she got calcium nitrate when I was dealing with all my bifoliates. To have another orchid bloom for your when you least expect it, is.... ahem... fantastic! 😆🥳 like I said, you make it happen with orchids that supposedly are not even there yet! 😂👍🏼 congratulations! Your flower are beautiful I just get nothing to bloom. I would put them outside but we are having to cold of a night. for June it feel like more April and we have 7 inches of rain in june alone.

Hi Sandie 😍💐 we are having some strange weather as well... May was nice, but the evenings were not warm enough for the time of year. For the orchids, thankfully for the most part, but weird. And suddenly, today it is nice and warm... almost too warm for this time of year, but I am not complaining 🥰 I prefer this to the alternative! I sincerely hope that your orchids will reward you with blooms!! That greenhouse should be the answer for blooming size orchids!
