I made this receipe for my daughters birthday. I was time poor so I bought a store mud cake but made the fudge. She loved it. It was her favourite cake! Thanks John for sharing your awesome recipes. It didn't look as good as yours but I will try it again and keep improving 🙂

Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups APF (all-purpose flour) 3/4 tsp kosher salt 2 1/4 tsp baking powder 3/4 cup unsalted butter 3 eggs 1 2/3 cups granulated sugar 1 tbsp vanilla extract 1 cup buttermilk Ice cream (any flavor) Melted chocolate Oreo crumbs Hope this helps! :D (Edit: sorry i forgot the whip cream 1 pint heavy whipping cream 3 tbsp powdered sugar 2 tsp vanilla)

We made this for my son's birthday and everyone loved this!! It was gone so quickly and soooo good. Friday nights are our baking nights so we are going to make a vanilla cake with dolce de leche ice cream instead. It's going to be sooo good!!

Ice cream cakes are so easy and people are always extra impressed by them. This is basically how I've always made mine but it's fun to mix and match cake, ice cream flavor, filling, icing, etc. Whenever I do that classic DQ center, I do like they do and toss the Oreos in magic shell which keeps them from going soggy with the fudge sauce. Also you can use instant pudding mix to make different icing flavors. Obviously, his way is more from scratch/less processed.

Just made some for my mom's birthday, using your chocolate cake and some mint chocolate chip ice cream! It was really good! The only downside was that I made the mistake of using buttercream, which made frosting the ice cream part a bit of a nightmare. I think next time, I'm just gonna follow your example and use whipped cream instead.

This might be the perfect cake for my husband. He LOVES dark chocolate cakes and he LOVES ice cream. I’ve never made an ice cream cake before since I’m not a big ice cream eater, but this would probably make for a perfect birthday cake. He’d probably prefer dark chocolate ice cream, but I’d probably like it with a mint chocolate chip. Actually, Bluebell Peppermint -only available around Christmas - would be fantastic, I think, except for the fact that my husband’s birthday is nowhere near Christmas...

i dont think i would have patients make homemade icecream but does enjoy watching people making their own versions of ice cream cake.
