Goes to show how much proper technique matters. Comparing these athletes try to muscle through the movements and the effortless, smooth way the same exercises are executed now says an awful lot about how far crossfit has come.

Wonder if steroids/enhancers are a contributor since drug testing isn't very stringent, whereas other sports there are tons.

It's so funny to see how much they struggled back then. And how they didn't really know each others names. Kristen Clever in the interview after her wod said she hoped that she could string the MU together like "that girl" in the first heat-Camille. Lol this makes me not feel so bad about how much i still struggle

It's cool seeing 2010 vs 2022 and how crossfit has pushed bodies to change and adapt. LeBlanc was in a league of her own with proper muscles and form. Maybe a few others too. It seemed like everyone else were slightly more fit individuals than normal but didn't have technical or the muscle bursts for early crossfit. I dunno, just cool to see how they all look like Spartans now vs a jogger or sprinter build. 😊

Back to when most of these athletes were actually clean 😔Not to mention the inconsistencies in judging is atrocious. Some clear reps were called “no-reps” while some clear no-reps were called “reps”. How embarrassing and discouraging for the athletes that had incompetent judges. Crazy thing is, awful judging is still rampant in the sport..

The irony here is, this is when they weren’t tested in any capacity. Anyone who wins a title is tested pretty regularly now, Matt Fraser was tested so much it was ridiculous. What’s happened is funding and interest in CrossFit as an actual sporting event. People did it as a hobby then. It’s creating actual careers now. Athletes can work out full time and be financially compensated for it through sponsorship deals and winnings. Look at Ricky Garard. Testing is happening and people doping at the top of the field, aren’t getting away with it. Yes there is doping but we should be grateful it is what it is now. Bad judging still can happen now as well but that is the same in all sports. Bad judging can be appealed though.
