Alta Backcountry Ski Traverse // Utah Backcountry Skiing // Patsy Marley & Mt. Wolverine

Спорт

Subscribe! This past week Elena, Paul, and I traversed the east ridge of Alta, UT to ski the Wolverine Bowl. On our tour we started at Alta Ski Area, traversed Patsy Marley, Mt. Wolverine, and Mt. Tuscarora. Though the brilliant sunshine faded throughout the day, the skiing was still a 10/10.

love the video. I'm new to Wastach backcountry, from Vermont and watching to learn some safe areas to skin/ski.

Sweet tour; nicely shot. Looks like the short skis work pretty good. I did some ski touring around there during the 1980-81 season. Back then I was on 220cm Bonnas with leather boots and free heels. We mostly skied the Albion Basin and up to Catherine's Pass. Although, I do remember one full-moon when all the kids in the canyon had a rendezvous at Cecret Lake. The trail guys had plowed it off with their Thiokols and everyone brought their skates. Skiing out, after midnight, on the Bonnas was a blast!

That sounds like such an awesome adventure! I brought my hockey skates when I moved out here, can't wait to do something like that

Nice little tour there! Sorry to hear about the snowpack this season. If it makes you feel any better, we too have a "sugar problem" this year up here in SW Montana. Stay safe out there!

Great Vids, I am freeskier from eastern canada, when the border opens backup I look forward to skiing the areas you have posted about back in when you were in boston. I'm riding some Full Tilts SC's, shift bindings, Head core 99 skis, and G3 skins. Have you tried skiing in the Adirondacks?

Awesome! That sounds like a great setup. I've never skied in the ADKs but I know its great up there too. Back east I mostly skied in the Stowe, VT backcountry

@@MacLeanWright I've only skied the resorts so far and the set up works great (not enough snow + restrictions), i went up 10cm in length and about 2x the stiffness so it will take me some adjusting. In other videos I've seen people skiing frozen river beds with huge icey cliffs above in the stowe area, any beta on those locations? For reference I've skied the resort, rock garden, profanity, and the glades off of profanity heading toward the pass

Fun to watch. I worked at the Goldminer's Daughter back in the early 80's and also partook in the back country of Alta.

@@MacLeanWright got salomon s lab shift bindings and some full tilt ascendants because im a pretty aggressive dowhill freestyle skier. and for skis i cant decide between the line sir francis bacons because they redesigned them for powder recently or one of the pairs of line vision 98s or 108s because they are so light.
