Powder Day in the Backcountry // Utah Backcountry Skiing

Спорт

Subscribe! Its been about two months since we've skied avalanche terrain as we've been dealing with a big persistent weak layer problem after the immense early season snowfall we had. Now that things are more stable, we went and skied Gobblers Knob, a prominent peak on the border between Millcreek Canyon and Big Cottonwood Canyon. I stare at this peak all the time, and though I've summited it in the summer, I really wanted to ski off the peak in the winter.

For sure, it ripped out huge on that side a few weeks before after significant loading. Humbling!

Epic views! Can you run up there in the summer? Also, great video! Loved how you 'told the story' and tossed in some groovy music to boot.

Ha ha, I just cross-country skied mill creek canyon yesterday… went all the way to the end of road and back, about 9.5 miles round trip. You must have skinned a long way past that. Out of curiosity, how did you get back to your car? It does not look like you went back down Mill creek canyon road. Thanks for posting!

They’re super light and I love going fast on the uphill! I don’t find it compromises that much on the downhill compared to how much a pow ski compromises on the uphill, if that makes sense

I would recommend starting with an avalanche safety course
