I've been riding my current Tech7 boots for about a year. Except for dirt and scuffs, they are still in awesome shape. They have only had one real test, and my ankle was fine. If anything happened to them I'd go replace them with the exact same thing.
Gaerne just updated their SG12 to the SG22, and while alpinestars doesn't necessarily fail anywhere or underperform, but the SG12 and 22 do most things the tech 7 and 10 do a little better all around.
I’ve had 7’s and 10’s and 10’s are definitely worth the extra. If you were wanting to do a comparison to an Alpinestars then that would really be Gaerne

Have you tried the Gaerne SG12s? I was a Tech 7 guy also but I would never go back once you try the the SG12s.
Gaerne SG12! Way better toe and ankle protection, much stuffer foot bed, more durable, easier to clean, replaceable soles. I'll never go back to tech 7s
Alpinestars boots are the last quality item that Alpinestars makes. All of their other products are straight garbage. That being said, Sidi all day.
Yep Fox boots suck! They fell apart on me too! Im an Alpinestar fan!
