Too bad IndyCar is a bunch of goof balls and isn’t trying to take advantage of that. Supercars could be too but they’re too busy trying to keep GM up front.

@@TANGYHATCHYnow you just sound like a salty Ford fanboy, Supercars has BOP, since the beginning of 2023 Chevrolet has had their horsepower reduced and increased their minimum weight, while the Ford got more horsepower and a lower minimum weight, maybe Chevrolet just did a better job with the regulations than Ford did, and from what I've read Ford knows they screwed up because they are bringing an Evo version of the Mustang Supercar this yea, same thing happened in last year's WEC Hypercar class, Toyota lost boost pressure and a higher minimum weight yet they still won the WEC championship because they did a better job than the other manufacturers in the WEC Hypercar regulations, BOP can only adjust the horsepower and weight so that all the cars are doing the same lap times, but a manufacturer can still just build a better car, BOP can't change aero because aero for each car is approved before the season even starts, and motorsports today is mostly aero based

No surprise they went for the new Oreca chassis with their experience racing the Oreca 07 in LMP2 and the grandfathered and rebadged Rebellion R13 which was a variant of the Oreca and homologated to run in Hypercar in 2021 and 2022. Pretty gorgeous looking hypercar. Rear end has that Glickenhaus look to it that I love. And whoever decided to make the rear taillights into the Alpine A is a genius. Although I am disappointed that it didn't follow the concept looks where it kept much of the styling of the A110. Would have been cool if they could have made that work.

Sooo... a F2 current engine right? ... Dunno if anybody here have heared, but many drivers and teams in F2 have criticiced that engine for being to unreliabable, and seeing Renault as Renault always is... i see a future in which they will made 2 hours of race and then the engine blow up.

Well proven isn't what I'd describe the Mecachrome engine, given its reputation for unreliability, and the fact that a version of it did run in LMP2, but with reduced power again for reliability issues.

I think that’s why they are using it. Everyone who knows about that engine knows that currently the paddock isn’t very happy with it because just that the reliability. I think they are going to try and develop the engine further so they can use the knowledge to put a updated engine into the f2 car without having to do a complete redesign/replacement which would cost ALOT more.

I don't understand why they split the exhaust in two even though there is a single turbo. Why not have a centered pipe like Isotta Fraschini or all the F1 cars ?

  • @-ragingpotato-937
    @-ragingpotato-9379 ай бұрын

The rear looks amazing but the aerodynamics of the front confuse me so much. Between the splitter and the top blade there's these massive openings but they look like they get immediately choked by a wall of carbon fiber that covers the huge brake cooling ducts. There's no opening on top, so where does all that air go? Does it squeeze through a gap between the "bonet" of the car and the brake cooling pipes or what?

What I have learnt so far is a new race car has a lot of issues that must raced away, case in point, the 963. If we were to look at its performance at the latter end of the season both in WEC and IMSA it is nothing short of stellar quality. And yet still it is still found wanting in the endurance races as such even Urs conceded to that fact. Then to divide the hypercar class into two categories might make sense now but once the newcomers are up to speed with their cars, then it will not make sense. Toyota chose to stay competing at the top class, they know their car in and out. They raced away its issues, let the competition play catch up. As for now we will be seeing more of them at the highest point of the podium. And I don't like that. I am just as hot under the collar like many an engineer at Porsche Penske. Time.

I don't think LMDh cars of Acura or Alpine are based on current Oreca 07 LMP2 chassis. The are based on new Oreca chassis that was created for the new LMP2 car that have yet to come and LMDh cars, but yes success and expierience from 07 definitely was crucial and helped majorly in creating new chassis, Acura Arx 07 is very rapid.

All of the LMDh cars use the new LMP2 chassis that will debut in 2025. LMDh manufacturers can select from Dallara, Ligier, Multimatic, and Oreca. No surprise they partnered with Oreca given their good relations with Oreca running the 05 and 07 in LMP2 and the Rebellion R13 in LMH which was a variant of the 07.
