Alpha CD35 C Combi Boiler Repair. Beginning to end.

This is more of my day to day work. Silly issues that should of been picked up long before my visit.
This also shows the full safety checks after the boiler is fixed.
The customer here had an electric hob so they didn't notice.

    Brilliant video, great to watch. Once you'd diagnosed the governor and had it changed I think a lot of people may have seen the boiler to appear to be running normally and called the job a good 'un, but you carried on and made sure the combustion was fine before leaving site - impressive work ethic and a good example to others.

    Nice work. Shows the importance of doing the basics! Also like you said, standing back and actually observing it was a combustion issue and keeping it simple and not looking for faults that don't exist, On the face of it you can see why a plate was changed as you'd get similar symptoms I guess. Always check the basics kids... Good work man

    Did they replace the governor on the meter ? i had this done because of low gas pressure after first service even though the previous year the council arranged a boiler swapout nothing was mentioned by the installer at the time of install so along comes first service and a gas pressure problem governor was changed by cadent boiler was serviced and is running makes me wonder how lazy the original installer was funnily enough this also rectified a gas cooker upper oven issue where the oven kept going out and had sent two new cookers back because of this problem seems many technicians are not as thorough and skilled as you

    Hi. I have an alpha CDC35c and when running a bath, the flame is lit for a time then goes out and water runs cold then flame starts back up then sister goes back hot. This is a constant cycle. A plumber changed the gas valve last year, as he said it had a small leak. Any ideas why water keeps going cold then hot etc? Thanks

  • @B1cam

    @B1cam

    4 жыл бұрын

    HeatingGeek yes. I was going to say that I like to do it with the case on to see it perform in normal working condition, that way the air intake is via the flue instead of the ambient air if the cover is off, there may be a hole in the flue inner for example. Many colleges over the years don’t do this even training instructors on courses do it with the cover off. Makes no sense to me. Thanks for unloading this videos I don’t work in the gas industry anymore though I still hold a license and it’s good to watch you go through the faultfinding in your vids so I don’t loose touch with it.

    you was right to think the flame picture was not good, at 9.7 co2 with case on the burner is running fuel rich, an adjustment of the air gas mixture would have brought the co down and improved the flame picture and efficiency (all be it marginally). That's why co2% is just as important as ratio, because m.I's say ratio is ok so appliance is safe which is right in theory but it still would have benefited from calibration to get the most from it. Although we all know in real life and with more jobs to get too that as long as it's burning safe rather than efficiently then it's job done and crack on to the next one 😁 Good vids btw.

    The same engineer several times. Rushing. He got the arse because it was someone else's job to begin with. Most issues are caused by rushing. Companies need to understand that fixing boilers isn't always as simple as this one.
