This really reminds me of a book called: Bowling Alone by Robert D Putnam. It's strange to see those concepts at work and essentially in overdrive at this point in time. Notice how nobody even looks at him, because they don't want to be associated with someone that has less social capital than they do. The man that is speaking with his girlfriend is so uncomfortable, because he doesn't want to put off his date by interacting with someone who is alone and thereby associating himself with loneliness. He may have a fear of looking lonely and confusing that for showing empathy for Cherdleys. IMO this was one of the hardest watches for me and to think it lasted only 8 minutes it makes me wonder what has happened to us as a species where we cannot pay attention to a man that is clearly lonely and has been convinced he needs to take medication in order to be "normal". Where have we gone as a society to believe that if we empathize or even associate with people who have less social capital are essentially "nobodies" - it's as if they don't exist and I think that's truly what we fear. It's the nothingness of having no social capital. Obviously Cherdleys has many people who love him for his work and the smile he puts on people's faces, but I think this video left a mark on me and made me realize how shallow we all truly are. Thank you Cherdleys for this poignant piece and I love you for it!

Commenting for the algorithm. Ive been subscribed for a long time, i usually dont comment, but this one deserves it. Might be my favorite video from you, it showcases your skill as a filmmaker, to let a story breathe, and reveal itself through context clues and interaction with others. @@carsonhunt4642 I've never done it on a cruise ship (sounds a bit lame, maybe? I think some cruise ships have little events/ a special lounge for solo travelers to make friends, p sure I remember reading one cruise line had that), but have done a few solo trips for scuba diving and have had a chill time. Since you have an activity planned during the day it just doesn't matter at all during your days (and honestly makes shit a lot more convenient not having to plan around anyone else or get them on board with the plans you wanna do). Can get a little lonely at night if you're bored/got nothing going on, but idk if you enjoy/aren't bothered by chilling alone at home, you'll be fine.

For anyone who needs to hear this, you can treat brain zaps from withdrawal of SSRI's with dextromethorphan, the ingredient in tussin and other cough meds. You don't even need to take enough to feel anything, and it may come in clutch. Be safe, and always do your own research!

Social ineptness was and is a weakness. Those that cannot contribute will always be left behind. His desperation also makes him less attractive and approachable.
I think this is a video people may stumble across in many years time and it will still resonate. All the best for your 2024’s and beyond people ✌🏻
This whole experience felt like a VCR you'd find at the very, very back of the store
This video felt like it was 20 minutes long and had character arcs and layers. (I love you)
Commenting for the algorithm. Ive been subscribed for a long time, i usually dont comment, but this one deserves it. Might be my favorite video from you, it showcases your skill as a filmmaker, to let a story breathe, and reveal itself through context clues and interaction with others. Plus the cringe is not only hilarious/sad, it reveals more about the character than meets the eye. Superb
Best Cherdleys vid I've seen in a long time. Felt real and heartfelt. Just pure comedy.

Escitalopram, the (S)-enantiomer of citalopram, is a highly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Escitalopram is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating major depressive disorder (MDD; unipolar) in adults and adolescents (ages 12 to 17) for both acute and maintenance phases. I hope you're doing well Cherdlys

Solo travel is the best man but probably not on a cruise ship. Been all over Europe, India and Latin America solo and the freedom you get is just the best. I joined travel groups as well so you still get to meet people.

This was art, the long panning shots make me think some of them were set up by Chlarence himself and then he had to run into position for the shot. Incredible work.
Wow, this is so good. Great on you for experimenting with a new style, and knocking it out of the park!
Brave move, Chlarence! 🚢👏 Hope you enjoyed the cruise!

For anyone who needs to hear this, you can treat brain zaps from withdrawal of SSRI's with dextromethorphan, the ingredient in tussin and other cough meds. You don't even need to take enough to feel anything, and it may come in clutch. Be safe, and always do your own research!

@snower13 you know how you can zap yourself with static electricity? It's like that, but in your brain. It's not painful really, just kind of disorienting and uncomfortable. The thought of running out of my medication while I'm on a cruise and having to experience that sounds awful lol they're not fun
I love this so much, the ending hit me in the feels like a truck. Amazing work bro ❤
I have been following you for a while because I am an x mormon and I find your humor incredible. This video felt very real and left me with goosebumps from head to toe. This reminded me of David Foster Wallace. And I remember he wrote a piece on cruises so it had that kind of a vibe. Furthermore, I will tell you. I can relate to you fully because I have drowned my brain with lsd mushrooms and copious amounts of mdma. I also grew up in extreme child abuse. I consider myself a nihilist and the humor you present is top notch. i would love to be your friend.
