All the Tech on the New Canyon Spectral With Canyon's Head Engineer

Спорт

Today I’m joined by Leo Malmeryd, the lead engineer behind the latest evolution of the Canyon Spectral. Leo will be sharing insights into the meticulous development process that brought forth this new iteration of the Spectral, as they take an evolutionary approach in search of trail bike perfection. But that’s not all - I’m hitting the trails with Jonny Matthews, to put the new Canyon Spectral through its paces. Together, we’ll compare its performance against its predecessor, which we both loved, unraveling the subtle yet impactful changes that Leo and his team have crafted.

why not one version with 160/150? ...i have an old Spectral 2016 (150/140) and the only reason for a new one was the 160/150. Now I'm not sure because I feel that I already have such a bike :D

I would love to know, does it help with removing the dead sailor effect for average jumpers like myself

Great question, I'd find it hard to say from the testing we did as there were no real jumps, but I suspect it would help a little.

Not sure if the entire transcript is available for download but I listened to most of the video and couple of feedback items. 1) no coverage on Horst Link suspension design/considerations, etc. 2) no coverage on testing 3) no coverage on why Canyon reduced travel by 10mm f+r unless they wanted to focus the Strive as enduro only and focus Spectral as trail only (before Spectral was advertised as both trail and enduro on the website). I had a Spectral 29er AL 6 which cracked at the top shock mount weld area (both sides) and was similar to a video crack on KZread for another AL Spectral. Canyon warrantied the frame in less than 7 business days. I have a new 29 CF 8 now (2022 or 2023?). The AL 6 had ~2500 miles on it and survived all kinds of abuse at Northstar, Snow Sumit, Snow Valley and local trails. My 2016 Intense Spider 275C has ~14,500 miles (not a typo) on it and survived all same abuse and still riding it. Also, I bought a used Lux Trail CF 6 for my son last year and both the 2024 Lux Trail CF and 2024 Spectral line were announced immediately after both purchases. Why don't the bike manufacturers give heads up like car manufacturers on new models like 6-12 months in advance so we can better plan purchases? Thanks for the video, was overall very informative.
