NEW: Canyon Spectral, Scott Voltage, and SRAM Maven brakes! | The MBR Show

Спорт

In this episode of the MBR Show we cover Canyon’s updated Spectral, SRAM’s latest Maven brakes, and Scott’s resurrected Voltage.
Canyon has thrown everything bar the kitchen sink at the new Spectral trail bike. It now comes with internal storage, the controversial KIS steering stabiliser as standard, and comprehensive geometry adjustment similar to what Specialized introduced on the new Turbo Levo SL. There's also some cool tool holders you can 3D print yourself at home.
Scott's Voltage used to be a freeride bike, then a dirt jump hardtail, and now it's found its true calling - a mid-power e-bike with a TQ motor and 155mm of travel. Of course it gets Scott's hidden shock frame design, and TracLoc remote travel and geometry adjust. Lots of bells and whistles then, but does it perform on the trails?
Best-known for using DOT fluid in its brakes, SRAM's latest Maven follows the entry-level DB8 by making the switch to mineral oil in search of better long-term consistency and longer service intervals. It's also the most powerful brake SRAM has built, with a claimed 50% more power than Code, and 30% less effort needed to access that power. So do those impressive numbers stack up in the real world?
Danny and Alan also reveal their thoughts on these new bikes and products, as well looking at the news in brief, including an innovative new hub from KOM Bikes, and a hybrid tubeless valve from E*Thirteen.

I like this round table show! Question, you were bottoming the shock and said that you were running compression damping wide open, did you try adding a couple clicks of compression?

SRAM tested the market with DB8. These were well received so they released their top brakes with mineral oil as well. looks like smart move.

Have had 1 hub failure on an RF Vault superboost. Hoping the SB+ scene can catch on to this new Hub displayed here.

Scott Voltage hidden shock. Stays cleaner longer. Breaking News: my outboard shock gets clean whenever I wash my bike. 😅

Looks like the Spectral has a linear air can. Prog air can could be a quick fix.

I’m not sure if this is mentioned in previous videos but the guy with the beanie needs to get his neck checked out asap. Large mass on right neck rear.

Could Dan do a piece on how he’s set up his Levo? Struggling to decide what to run on mine for various applications, thanks 👍

@@MBRmagazinethanks for your reply, it’s to give me an idea which geometry adjustments he’s running and how they’ve effected the feel of the bike, is the stock settings it comes in a good all round setting or should I be tinkering? I ride everything from my local not so tech trails to the super steep golfie tracks in Peebles. I’ve little time to experiment and not ideal to stop and adjust things whilst riding with friends, hence the question, Dan seems to have spent a decent length of time on Gen 3 so hoping for his wisdom, Many thanks 👍

Hi, Danny here. I run an S4 frame with the neutral headset cup, and short chainstay setting. I find this works well for a variety of terrain. But for the steep trails at Golfie, it might be worth trying the longer chainstay and slackest head angle settings. Any other questions, ask away!

@@MBRmagazinethanks for your reply Dan, I feel the mid head angle position is a good all round compromise. It’s just on the show your Levo looked super slack, possibly it was because it was high up. Just to let you know, I’ve been keen reader of MBR for 20+ years and I’m grateful for all your hard work. I’ve purchased numerous bikes and kit as a result of your reviews, really like the new KZread show and think it will gain big support in the coming months 👍
