This was the blunder that makes Magnus Carlsen decides not to play in the WCC anymore!
I like GM Kraai's take on the position: if you, as White, really believe that you are better in this position then c5 is the only move to be better with. Every other move loses a pawn and the game seems equal. So in believing you must be better you logically arrive at the conclusion that c4-c5 must be the move.

Fabi suggested the move and was immediately refuted, so he didn't properly analyzed it, wich it's something you would do before playing a move in a WC champ with much time left in the clock. Suggesting the move is fine (Not considering it would be a concern because of how natural the idea of pushing your own pawn to c6 is and how anti-positional c6 is) but there's still no way you can play it OTB with so much time on the clock when your opponent has only 15 minutes

It has nothing to do with the move. Chess is becoming more and more like poker. Players don't want you to look at their faces and understand if you know the lines that can be played after. Top GMs are so deepened to the supercomputers and the top lines that can be played after. That's why Nepo always left the table during the first 6 games and did the same for the next 3.

This shows how strong magnus is.. as you can see here, all the GMs can see what are good moves and bad moves. And they are all pretty strong. But put them in a classical game against magnus. And magnus will find a way to get a winning position and somehow all other GMs can't see it coming.

We can all look at this match and how quickly Magnus can punish the mistakes. If you make that kind of a mistake in a WCC against Magnus - it's over. I'm pretty sure, if Magnus didn't resign the title, Nepo would have lost to him again. Considering how badly he played in the recent WC match.

Yeah, he soon went on the classical rampage after that about how bad the format is and I think part of that is because he realized these great players make embarrassing blunders under the pressure. Or he was basically "of all the candidates, this is the guy that won?". That's why he wanted Fabi.
