It's a great car. More space, beautiful Momento interior (I love that seats too) and the T6 twin engine is the car you must test. Great job.

I now think that Volvo estates are the most beautiful in the market and the combination of that blue external colour and the interior with the city weave fabric is very elegant.

I like the fact that the rear doesn't slope so much as on the V90. It makes the trunk much more spacious and it still looks great!

I want this new V60 in black or white colour with R-design package, 19-20"R-design wheels, silver-brushed side mirrors, tinted rear windows, panorama glass sunroof and dark R-design interior. Now imagine that car in your head with these amazing thor headlights and rear led lights.. absolutely stunning.. Make it happen Volvo.

Just love this car - as well as other Volvo newer models.

Side note: I hope Volvo will use higher grade leather in their vehicles , because their seats tend to crack very easily and in a short amount of time compared to other luxury cars.

+Jamie - if you're in Europe, and you worry about the 'leather' deteriorating (!), go for a Momentum version, specify the lovely bright coloured interior of the 'City Weave', then if you want, you can add any other extra to spec it up - it's great Volvo allow you to fit any option on a low spec version. The only thing you'll miss out on is the silver window surrounds, as far as I can see..! Cheers.

If you look at the price list the V60 is actually really good value for money for this segment. At least with the smaller engines. Looks great in ”Denim Blue” but that colour is only available in inscription.

Hi Thomas! The reason of that huge tunnel transmission is because you are with the T6 Twin Plug-in Hybrid version (special transmission tunnel, with gloss black finish and Orrefors gear lever and less space because of the batteries). Beautiful car, and by the way, we have the S90 with the T5 petrol engine at home and it is very fuel efficient considering the size of the car: 8 liters/100 km in 25,000km. Great review, as always! Gotta say I prefer the Momentum model, especially in black or smth - it just looks meaner and more aggressive.

Really love Volvo blue..

I wouldn't call the exhausts fake, they still have an opening. I know the real one is behind it but with that logic, the current RS6 would also have fake exhaust tips since the "real" ones are behind the outer oval ones.

Thomas is 100% right but the "fakest" fake exhaust have to be those on the new A6, A7, A8, Q5 and even SQ5, as well as most Mercedes and some VWs, not on this V60. At least Volvo doesn't put a black plastic cover to mimic exhausts

Fake is fake no matter who makes them. Volvo are selling cars with fake exhaust tips - it is a horrible trend but it will be seem as uncool soon and then the whole thing will die away leaving the embarrassed owners with the old fake style exhaust tips

@notformebeaky Never said bare metal. Chrome exhaust pipes but not fake plastic chrome and certainly not fake plastic chrome of a size that suggest the engine is a 5.0 Litre V12. In any case swearing to make your point doesn't add anything to the discussion.

Great job Thomas. Your usual. Even though this is 185/186 in length, as you stated, it appears to have (almost) the leg room of the V90, (but that V90 is actually quite a bit larger, maybe several inches in the rear seats). This is, however, amazingly luxurious and roomy compared to the anemic room in the rear of a 3 series or C class, or their brand SUV cousins, which is I suppose due to the new Volvo platform. I cannot wait until you have driven and reviewed this car. Please get your hands on one. This, in the hybrid which we get in the states (I suspect we will only get the lower HP rated hybrid) should be the perfect antidote to those of us who don't want a sedan, want a plug and really don't want an SUV. Thank you.

I never thought this was something I could purchase b4, because I like you am 6'1" and the packaging was dismal b4. However now, I think this really is a great city and occasional long drive car. Can't wait until you drive it.

I think the boot floor was not locked, the hybrid models don't have any space underneath them, as the normal diesel/petrol versions would have.

Excellent review Thomas! Thank you! Could this be the sexiest 5 door long roof ever? IMO this is the finest design of any Volvo in history. Kudos to Volvo for maintaining so much of the ‘14 Concept Estate styling elements, yet in a 5 door more practical rear cargo form! Compared to my ‘15 V60,this appears to have much more usable cargo space. Volvo finally shooting for best in class accommodations. Volvo, listen: please bring the tweed cloth seats to N. America! Don’t rely on antiquated studies that presume that Americans don’t find cloth seats befitting a luxury car; these seats are not the run-of-the-mill velour in your everyday Camry, they are a premium fashion statement. Please stop limiting our available selections.

Everytime I sit in a modern Volvo, it's the most comfortable/relaxing seat/interior compared to the competition.

Hope you will soon test this car as you are No 1 in car reviews. I am in for a T5 or even T4 if it is not all to long down the road.

The whole of the new Volvo lineup is stunning. They’ve moved things on a million miles from the previous range. Do they have a new design team on board?

This will replace my out going car next year! I thinking Momentum, Pine grey with Blonde seats w/city weave. Hopefully it doesnt cost as much as the XC60...XC40 is also a choice. Great review Thomas!

I agree Thomas, this wagon is the nicest looking in it's segment! (You looked so relaxed you might have fallen asleep in that momentum model! haha) That city weave won't be coming to Canada.. Also, I think the hybrids are very appealing for me since most of my driving are short trips inside the city and I could charge quite frequently but I expect that Volvo will only offer this in the T8 version here. That means I would be buying the most expensive car in the line up by far. It also looks incredibly complex system. I'm not sure I'd want to own that for a long time.

Good job as always, Thomas. Handsome car. I prefer the dashboard on the 60 cars to the 90 models - lighter look. Though you mentioned the increased leg room over the outgoing V60, it looked to me like the rear seat itself is a little short and also low in relation to the foot well, so your knees are high and thighs are off the seat surface anyway. Will have to try it out, but I imagine in that respect the rear seat of the V90 is more welcoming.

Hi Thomas! City Weave may be considered a retrospective bent to car interiors from the 70s/80s but I certainly welcome it, as it's visually pleasant and, I dare say, cosy whilst offering year-round practicality and sustainability. Love the Swedish flag tabs; I have the same on my Fjällräven bags🇸🇪. Nice one, Volvo!...and your team for bringing these highlights from Geneva. (BTW, what's the name of your black cat?🐈)

Great name for a black cat! BTW, the UK Volvo configurator shows leather-faced seats for the new V60 Momentum as a 'no cost' option. I suspect this may hold sway with UK buyers when choosing interiors in lieu of concerns to sustainability. Volvo may, if questioned, argue the sustainable elements of the particular leather they use. Despite Volvo's words, we are still talking about the use of animal skin and so I'd like to think that the City Weave would be a more popular choice.

I am impressed. Well done Volvo. You lost me in 2009 when you stopped with the V70/wagon and I was convinced I was never going to buy another Volvo (1994 940, 1999 V70 XC, and 2005 V70 AWD). The Cross Country line of vehicles with all that cladding and high ride height never really pleased me (yeah, I did buy a 1999 XC but was never really thrilled with the look). I am still not convinced about build quality with Volvos. Great cars to own under warranty but by 75K miles they are scary to own. But maybe they are getting better? Time will tell.

The fabric in the momentum can be equipped in the new XC60 too :)

My wife and I can't wait to hit Sweden in July to pick up her new 2018 V90 Cross County Ocean Race Edition. The waiting is so agonizing . . . not to mention that it won't arrive back home in Los Angeles until October or November. Hopefully, her 19-year-old Lexus can hold out until then . . .

Dear Autogefühl-Team, dear Thomas, thank you so much for the Volvo V60 review their design language has infected me as well it's so gorgeous in my point of view. I really locking forward seeing the S60 and even more the new coming 40-Series. I don't dare but still be very curious have you seen the Polestar 1 as well? I suspect the fully electric Polestar 2 (a hatchback P1800ES alike, Thomas Ingenlath said that) and 3 (aerodynamic SUV silhouette) will be like the Volvo Concept Estate (No2) and Concept XC (No3), the Polestar 1 is pretty much like the Concept Coupe. Even if not, Tesla is normally my No.1 car brand but anyway Volvo is now and in future it will be closely beside on the car-side of my heart! ; )

The Design is not quite nice, it is beautiful, the most beautiful station wagon in the market. Excellent!

Beautiful machines, but the size and pricing has been risen from the previous gen so much, that it is not in the same class anymore. They will lose a lot of previous V50- V60 buyers just from the price range. But probably appeal to more stronger (E class, audi a6, bmw 5 series) buyers now.

Thomas, those exhaust pipes are decorative but not fake like on Audi A6 or Mercedes A and C class. I should be grateful if you can learn the difference.

they just integrate the decor part around the actual one whereas Audi and Mercedes dont connect them

I really love the new V60 and V90 as well. I can’t wait to change my 2014 V60 some day for new generation one. Or maybe upgrade to V90 - not sure. :)

The crystal gear leaver is from Swedish manufacturer Orrefors. A bit of a gimmick.

Hi Thomas, can you advise about which car to go for. New V60 momentum or the XC40 Inscription. When i travel i take two large suitcases and two airplanes cabin suitcases. We are three people occupying the car. Also, i drive daily 50 km on highway (one way) and two times a year more thsn 500km one drive heading to south france😊. Do you know when the New V60 wiil be in showrooms? Thanks

Brilliant man to review a car. Superb, splendid looking car but I feel that electronics are taking over such as the folding seats and tow bar for example, all these electronics add weight (Kg)s. The white interior looks superb but!!!!! How the devil do you keep it clean, I also think there are many, many to highly detailed areas to keep clean, very nice when new but not at all practical when dry skin from hands and arms flake dead skin. I could write forever after viewing your video but it would take me all week to write it but it seems to me that month by month and year by year modern cars are getting to fancy for there own good and within 10 years they will end up being scrapped due to electric problems, nice review though and very, very professional.
