ALL-NEW Santa Cruz 5010 | First Ride | 29er Defying & Famously Fun

Спорт

Technical Editor In Chief, Robin Weaver, got to ride the bike ahead of the launch and had plenty to say about it. Voiced by our very own Senior Technical Editor, Tom Marvin, this video includes all the things you need to know about the new model plus all important first ride impressions.
The new Santa Cruz 5010 is longer and slacker than the previous generation but, perhaps surprisingly for 2020, it hasn’t given up 27.5 inch wheels.
Santa Cruz have methodically been working their way through their line-up, giving nearly all of their full-suspension bikes a complete makeover. After two years since it’s last spruce up, it’s now time for the 5010 to have a refresh.
While it’s still built around the smaller, 650b wheels, or, as Santa Cruz put it, “the fun-sized wheel size”, the geometry and frame layout are totally different to the 5010 launched back in 2018.
What do you think the new Santa Cruz 5010? Is it time we all rode 29ers? Or do you still ride a 650b? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Omg stop with 29er thing. I mean it’s not like Santa Cruz doesn’t have the Tallboy, Hightower and Megatower if you want a 29er. SC has done it right. A specifically designed bike in 3 travel amounts in 27.5 and 29. No one bike that will take both but is not designed for either. So please, stop trying to get rid of 27.5. Plenty of us love them.

@DADventureTV: Agree. Most of the journalists' comments these days seem to be substituting their own opinions for public opinion. "Shouldn't every bike be red? I mean, that is EVERYONE'S favorite color, right?" What I would love to see, but never have, is an honest review of all of the negatives of 29ers (and there are many) that somehow seem to be omitted in every review, whether it's praising a 29 in. bike, or criticizing a 27.5 for not being 29.

Damn, they want $5k for the c carbon GX bike with heavy wheels and a heavy alloy bar and entry level suspension. I have a 2016 OG hightower, 29lbs with pedals and cage. Demoed the new Hightower, at 31+ lbs, and decided my bike rode better and was more fun. The new lower link feels like dead wood unless you get the cc version frame with the nicer rear shock, which costs way too much.

Ben Asquith only if you are comparing to direct order. Compared to other bikes sold through a dealer- Yeti, Pivot, Ibis, Trek they’re all within a 100$-200 of each other.
