    The Harbour Freight weed gun works on 20 lb tank and sears meat as well as starts the charcoal for 40.00.

    Nice comparison but could you elaborate further in the 1lb tanks. On average how many minutes or light ups can you get out of a 1lb tank? How many grills can you light before you have to get a replacement tank?

    It’s a tough question to answer because they are way too many variables. I used mine to light many different types of fires. Also I do a lot of pizzas so I’m running it longer than most would. I’ve gone through around 14 1 pound bottles in 2.5 years to give you an idea. I also cook all year round and film most weekends. 🍻

    @@RumandCook sounds pretty simple to me bro. 1lb bottle every 2 months for heavy usage. I am on the high usage category and I’d say that’s pretty good if I don’t have to buy starters every two months. But $200 is steeeeeep. Hmmmm

    @SJCOOKS lol well it’s not something I bothered to track that closely. That’s like buying a nice car and worrying about how much gas it uses. It doesn’t do much without gas. 🤣🍻

    I'd like to see somebody do a comparison between these and a $25 weed burner from Harbor Freight. Does it really work better/faster?

  • @RumandCook

    @RumandCook

    Yes significantly faster. I’ve used torches and other items. Nothing is remotely close to the width and temp of this flame. 🍻

    I have the grill gun. I use the same bottle but I just refill them using my 20 lb. Tank. With a refill hose. To get them up to the like new 30 oz or so, you have to tilt the small bottle with the relief valve toward the top with the bottle tilted at an angle so the valve is at the highest point. You pull on the valve with some needle nose pliers until you see some liquid sputter out. Almost every time this will get you to 29-30 oz like new fill every time. Once my small tanks get a little rusted after a coup years I just buy a new pair. No chilling no crazy technique. Just a fill hose with the 20 pounder upside down to fill the small one and vent the excess gas from the small tank to get it full.

    @@RumandCook My understanding is the disposable bottles are not designed to repeatedly put them under pressure. Eventually there will be a crack form and to me, that sounds like a nightmare of fire. I watched and caught the bottles on sale. I bought the refill kit. So far, I am happy and feel safer. Nothing going to the landfill either.

    @@HootOwls that’s why every year or so I replace them. I only refill 2 bottles I keep maybe 2 times each before replacing. I don’t go through them quick and do not keep them indefinitely for safety. Even the 20 pounders have to be recertified every couple years (6 if I’m not mistaken) and the date of every recertification is stamped on the handle. That’s not something you can probably do on the little ones so replacing them every so often after refilling a couple times is probably good practice.
