Here is just a little tip I've found helpful with little ones. I suggest taking 5 minutes before lunch and dinner with the kids for a tidy time. Set the timer, sing a couple of songs (there are you tube playlists available) and do a quick pick up. It's more about the training than the actual box checking. Before long it will be automatic for them and is really a benefit for them to have the habit throughout their life. (Mom of 9)

I agree. I watch my cousin's 2 littles and I do this with their 3yo. I also did it with my girls when they were little. They started "making up" their toddler beds when they were 3. It wasn't like if I did it, but by 4 or 5 yo they could make their twin beds like a grown up.

Wow. What a benefit you provided to your 9 children, to learn those habits, early... which eventually became "automatic". That has probably served them, very well, throughout life.

I'm 63, and I too wish I had discovered the Fly Lady earlier. I learned how to cook as a child making sugar cookies. At first, Mom did everything and all I did was toss on colored sugar crystals. Then I was old enough to use a spatula and cookie cutter, so she would roll out the dough and I did the rest. Then I was old enough to roll the dough, and soon after, with her by my side, I could make the dough. When I was 7 and could read, I asked Mom if I could make chocolate chip cookies. She wanted to supervise the use of the oven, but otherwise let me do it myself - she checked on me of course! By the time I was 11, I was making the Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas dinner and other big family meals. Not only is it a good skill to have as an adult, it is a wonderful way to build confidence. I have vivid memories of Mom telling me to add the flour or salt or whatever, of her guiding my hand when I learned how to measure things. I cherish those memories. Your children will cherish the memories of helping you swish and swipe and cut vegetables, and they will learn that a little bit done every day can accomplish a lot! Thank you for sharing your beautiful family with. us. Be safe. Be healthy!

Watching you brought back such sweet memories of me with my 4 little babies.......so wonderful, so hectic..... you are amazing! I used to do the majority of my cleaning from 9pm-11pm after I had everybody down for night. But for 3 years, I hired a cleaner to do the upstairs bathroom, dusting, sheet changing, vacuuming because my only free time was when they were sleeping and then I didn't want to wake them up! I'll never forget the day I interviewed a cleaner and she looked around my house and said, "oh, you want me to actually clean. most my clients want me to de-clutter, load the dishwasher, and clean the sink"........she didn't want the job, but I felt so proud that I was on top of the clutter! Now my babies are 26, 24, 23 and 22!

You are one of the main reasons I tried the FLY Lady system. I got my feather duster last week, (dusted my kitchen ceiling fan first), rags and calendar came this week. I'm still very new and the laundry is the one thing I hate to fold and put away. I'm retired and care for my husband. We had to have a gentle reminder the house needs to be safe for him and me, as well. I love seeing my shiny sink every morning. It's been shining for over 2 weeks now. I'm decluttering, tagging bags donate as I go. Getting rid of paper clutter as I bring it inside from the mail. It's a jungle, but I feel positive about the process. I see fairly clean floors shining as I look across them, a swished and swiped toilet🚽!!! Who knew I'd rave about this? Thanks Stephanie. I loved seeing your sister using the plan. It helped me to decide, "I can do this". My adult kids were super heros to support and help me. Thanks so much!!!

This was inspiring. I love an old-fashioned to do list. I brain dump what's on my mind for the upcoming week every Sat or Sun, and pick 3-4 main things to tackle each day. Also, sheet pan cooking + hanging clothes = game changer!

What a fun and cheering video to watch! I'm a Grandma of 13 now, our 4 children are all grown up and raising their own, so it was wonderful for me to watch your darling children enjoying their day! Your baby's dancing little feet while you worked on dinner and your daughters waking up and reconnecting with you after their naps was so sweet, especially your younger daughter just rejoicing over her pretty dress! I remember many "little old ladies" telling me to be sure and enjoy my children while they were little, because that time goes so very fast. I always assured them that I was, and now I can look back on those lovely memories and just be grateful that I did. I'm glad that you do too.

Wildly impressed by the co-ordinated sleeping - That took me WAY longer than 3 months when I had Baby 3 - but IDID IT - one of the achievements of my life - I still remember 2:10pm on a rainy London Friday in 1986 when all 3 little ones were asleep TOGETHER ..... bless you and your beautiful babes and glorious Canada.

Flylady literally saved my life...I struggled so much all my life with organization , raised 8 children with so much guilt never feeling I was good enough. In 2001 a 20 year old son was in a serious car accident out of country! I had no more personal resources in the chaos!Someone showed me the Flylady website and I cried and cried as I realized help was available. I ordered the book and have never felt the same guilt. Fast forward age 71,and 23 grandchildren and her motto , "You are never behind, jump in wherever you are", "You can do anything for 15 minutes" and "Do a 5 minute room rescue". Blessed are you to have discovered Flylady!!! I love this video and will send to daughters and daughter in laws!

I probably discovered FlyLady before or just after you were born, lol! I think you are fantastic, especcially love your power tidy spree. What I adopted at the time was the morning/evening routines. And I used the zone alarms and the specials, adapted to my needs. I thought the system was perfect for family managers like you, but not neccessarily for people like me (no kids, but long working hours, only three rooms, but a lot of entertaining, mostly a cross-over between business and friendship - "fasten your laces" just didn't work for me). Then I got married, and there we were - two people with long working hours, a house and a garden, and still quite a bit of entertaining. The long working hours gave us the means to have a cleaning lady, and my DH will only pick up juuuuust before she arrives. But he will, that's the best thing about having her! I am still going back to the zones and I'm trying to adapt this to our cleaner's schedule to hand over some of the chores, but it's tricky. She can't clean windows if the sun is fully out the day she's there or if it happens to be pouring down just at that time, she can't get rid of hot spots, it's not her home, so she's not as ambitious as I would be if I was home. I know, this must sound like luxury problems. It is only now with Corona that I have the extra time nearly every day to do those chores, because I still work long hours, but without the drive (which is only! across town, approximately 1.5 to 2 hours each day). And that happens even after deducting the time I now need to provide a hot meal every day (we used to both eat at the company cantine during the week). Why am I nuttering on? Because your video has quite inspired me to look into FlyLady again, see how it's developed, see whether there's something new I can adopt to my schedule. And thanks for this utterly charming view on your family life! So many princesses, so little time ...

Thanks for the comment, Stefanie! Glad you found certain parts of the system that work for you. I always try to explain to people to adapt it for their lives - you don't have to EVERYTHING in the system to still get the benefits! Nice that you're saving so much time every day without the commute! That will be a tough adjustment to go back to (like many other people I'm sure.) Good luck getting back into the system!

Wow.. This is full on June Cleaver! I applaud you for all that you do for so many. I hope everyone appreciates you, because you seem like a very good partner and excellent mother. I feel overwhelmed by your schedule. You do this sort of thing every day? Do you get to enjoy yourself, and think about what you want to be doing yourself, as an individual? If not.. perhaps your spouse should make dinner for the two of you when he gets home. Working is obviously work... but it still seems less tiring than all your responsibilities. Please don't forget about you ... and your place in the world as an individual. I'm not familiar with your channel but I just wanted you to know that you are doing the work of 100 men. Well okay, at least 10! ... ☺️ please take care and also make your needs a big priority. Thx for sharing your day. What a very kool thing for your kids to one day see first hand everything you've done for them. If we all could have had that experience ...! 🖤

Steph, like many of us, I'm watching a lot of TV lately. Oh, gosh, I'm going to sound so snooty, but... here goes. I'm here in my apartment in New York City and have limited my excursions to 3 walks a day with my dog. Right now I'm watching for perhaps the 100th time, The French Chef with Julia Child. Your comment about cooking made me want to reach out and give you a hug. You are an accomplished young woman! Anyway, I'm watching The French Chef, and right now she is talking about chickens. What I love about her is that she make mistakes in the kitchen, on TV, and it doesn't phase her at all!!! I can't tell you how much I've learned by watching these shows and cooking from her cookbooks. If you are faced with some rainy weather, and your children are napping or playing quietly and you have a moment for watching TV (as if!), see if you can find the re-runs on TV. They are often on the public stations, you can find them on Netflix and Amazon Prime as well. I can promise you with absolute confidence, if you get one of her cookbooks, (there is a paperback cookbook that goes with the show), that if you follow her recipe as it it written, it will work! You are doing much harder things right now. Cooking is not hard and you can master it! I am still learning things by watching these shows.

I think you are my biggest fly lady motivation. I am a little earlier in my 'recovery' from complete chaos, and though I live alone, I work long hours, and have struggled with stress in the past. The way you think, the way you break it down and make it manageable, and the positive energy, it just have an effect that no-one else have had so far. Love your videos! :)

It was so lovely of you to share your day, made me remember those time when the kids were young and how lovely it was to nurse them 🥰 It also helped to see how you fitted the flylady routine into your day, and that it wasn't just one solid hour or two with each chore being ticked off, the fact you just fitted it in here and there but it still got everything done was great; especially the 15 zone cleaning, I always get mixed up with how long to so that. Best wishes to you & your lovely family 💙
