I had a heart attack in Feb. I'm lucky to be here. My motivation is to live minimally is so much stronger now. Only keep things that bring you joy, even pots you don't use🤣

Keep Le cruset. Very expensive to replace and quite frankly if it brings you joy, keep it! I have a few fancy bowls I use once or twice a year, but I love them so they stay. Don't let guilt of perceived excess let you get rid of something you love. If you have too much, you know. And you know in your heart you don't have too much excess.

Plus, I go with 'if I love it, I gotta find more times to use it' Especially with good cookware, use the good stuff, and it enjoy it. I have a smaller Le Cruset rectangular piece of cookware, and I use it for everything from lasagna, to pommes fondant, to roasts. I have Pyrex pans that are older than I am. You don't have to be a complete minimalist, if you don't want to :)

Don't get rid of the Le Creuset! I got rid of a set of little ones with covers when I decluttered and moved last year. It is the 1 thing - out of about 45 moving boxes - of items I got rid of that I am sad about. Sad enough that I may go and buy another set. They were so cute!

My elder two (6 tomorrow and almost 5) I got them both an A4 large storage box they each have a space in the it room to keep the art I don’t ‘forever’ store but they want to keep. If it doesn’t fit in the box they have to get rid of something else or ditch it. Gets them ready to make the ‘emotional’ decisions

I am doing a similar thing! We have a big A3 folder per year. They put everything into that, and after a year I secretly get rid of the 100th monster painting and keep the things that represent their taste and development best. I plan to make some kind of art journal with the best ones and gift it to them when they are adults.

As a mom of 4 young kids, I really appreciated this video. Thank you for showing your house with furniture that isn’t all high end and white and new and perfect. Thank you for showing the mess in your cupboards and the kids toys on the floor. Thank you for showing how much excess stuff comes with young kids, because regardless of how much you declutter, there will still be a lot of stuff for all the development stages.

Hahahaha I might be the only person who says sell the le creuset pot. In another comment I said i was given one as a wedding gift. Never used it once in four years. Moved three times and had to lug that thing. Just sold it a few months ago and still have not needed it. I loved the color but didn't need it, want it or use it. It was very easy to get rid of. Simple meals here and all i use is a baking shery with the oven or a frying pan on the stove. It gets the job done. But if you like them and think you'll use them then keep them :)

As you yourself say, you're not overly sentimental so it is usually easy for you to discard things. Allow yourself the Le Creuset - you have the room and they obviously spark joy. And, one day, you may even use them.

Yes indeed about easy when not sentimentally attached. This is one of my plagues is that I am sentimentally attached to a lot of things: dolls from when I was between 4 and 12 years old (can’t part with them for fear next child won’t treat them special and rip their heads off or sit on/smash the doll camper or dishes) so I keep holding on to them. Other is chochkies (sp?) small things I got from classmates, friends, boyfd, and things I have but just don’t know where or what to do with them - the “I don’t know what to do with these” where I can’t yet part with them but can’t find place to use or put them anywhere

Hi! I love your videos! You have so much positive energy! One tip for the spices: you can put a 'anti-slip' mat (like underneath a carpet) to prevent them from sliding. The cooking pot: go find some recipes of small side-dishes and use it every day for 2 weeks. Then decide if you want to use it again or not.

Keep the Le Creuset. One day you will be entertaining - I have to believe that that day will come - and you will want to set a nice table. Le Creuset serves double duty, you can cook AND serve in it. So, I vote for keeping it. It is amazing how much stuff we accumulate without knowing. I remember my Mom moving through the house in much the same way you just did. Whenever she had "an extra 10 minutes" she would go through a drawer or a closet..... She told me, "if you do it when you think of it, it will never get out of hand."' How right she was - and I wish I had listened to her! I'm now using this system that I learned from you. You are such an inspiration to me. I will be decluttering this March!

I'm a reading tutor and one of the first things I do when I test a child is see how they put together a simple puzzle. If they don't know how to organize a puzzle, I teach them the picture frame method of finding the straight out edge pieces, putting those together first by matching the picture the on the box then filling it in however they want to organize the pieces. It's amazing the amount of children who are overwhelmed trying to put a puzzle together as they don't know where to start.

Pantry: I think you have the space to keep those items!! Especially if you feel sad about getting rid of them! Again, you are intentional and have plenty of space for them! If they were just making that drawer spill out I would say reconsider or move it if needed but you are solid!! Thank you for your inspirational video and being real about it taking “2 days!” You rock!

Heck yes keep your le creuset!!! It's awesome and it's something you can hand down to your daughter in law someday when your son marries..it will last a lifetime...plus it's so nice looking that it's easily a oven or stovetop to table type of ware so you don't have an extra step to put what you cook in it into another vehicle to serve it....so it's not only great to cook in but it's great to look at and saves you time and energy as well :)

So inspiring! 21 days, a weekend, a few hours. Encouraging that once that first painful bit is done, the upkeep is not so painful. Also a good reminder that periodic upkeep is necessary to keep things from getting out of hand.

It’s so inspiring to see how easy it is to declutter once you’ve done the major house declutter before. Even if twice a year I have to go through my home just to see if I there is anything else we’re not using or loving it will be so easy. I’m still on my decluttering and minimalism journey and it’s taking a while. We’ve lived in our current home for almost twenty years so there are lots of things that we’ve accumulated over the years. Today I was working on the kitchen and found things on the higher shelves that I forgot we even had. I don’t even remember the last time I saw them. We have tall cupboards so I’m trying to only use the first three shelves and keep the fourth shelf empty. That way I can see what I have and it’s easy to reach when I need to. Our thrift shops are closed right now in parts of Ontario. I’ve joined a “No Buy Group” on Facebook for my city just so I can post pictures of things I want to declutter. So far I’ve been lucky and have been able to leave things on my front porch for people to pick up. It’s a win/win situation as I can declutter without leaving my home and the people get things for free.😊❤️🙏

You can keep stuff, just not everything. You're rocking the container concept. 💖 I hope to be able to declutter as I zone clean over the next few months and finish taking my house back. My entryway is still clean from hot spot drills and WHB. It's a first for me.

Steph thanks so much for being REAL, I laughed during your decluttering because I can see myself in the same situations at times. I decluttered a wall organizer (it had pockets & boy did those fill up with "stuff" quick), lunch containers, wall paper, book bin, erasers, pencil grips, wrapping paper storage container, plastic party serving bowls, snack pouch. Who knew I had all this stuff I wasn't using?!
