All at Once - Whitney Houston (Live at American Music Awards)
Музыка
January 26, 1987: Whitney Houston garnered a total of 13 Grammy nominations from one record that year. She set the record for the most AMAs won by a female artist in a single year in 1980s, with five. Whitney Houston's record was named "Favorite Album" in both the Pop/Rock/R&B categories for the first time. She was also the second female artist after Donna Summer in 1980 to win "Favorite Female Artist" in both categories. Whitney Houston sang "All at Once," which was introduced by show host Diana Ross, who declared the album "the biggest debut album by a solo performer ever."

When I see her like this, I think, this woman could have had almost any man she wanted and a beautiful life. And I think of the men who would have been so much better for her. The right partner can help to bring out the best in you. But if both of you are broken and messed up, those two shouldn’t be together. She was one of the best singers ever, and I hope she finally found peace. After her last interview with Oprah, I really thought she was going to make it!

Still get chills. 35 years later. Was a teenager when this aired...Whitney was everyone's favorite - but I truly loved her songs and her voice. I wore out her debut album - I know I drove my mom crazy cuz it played 24/7. There just wasn't a bad song on it - they were all hits. But of all of them? All at once was my favorite. How she builds up to the incredible chorus and then just takes us home - I have heard this song hundreds of times and it never stops giving me chills. This live performance is so special. She is so young here and naive - you can hear it in the opening few bars. Bit timid...then she gradually opens up and relaxes and shows everyone what she can do. This is a master class in vocals. No wonder she swept the AMA's that year. She was a special person with a gift i'm sure i'll never see matched again. I miss her. I'm glad I had her to grow up with. I just hope that she knows how much people still love her and her music.

@dammar117
Жыл бұрын
@@kelltaylor5774 Very few singers can sing like this because they don't have the voice. If you don't have the voice at 23, you won't have it at 33. Vocal chords are fully developed by early adulthood (18-21). You might sing better with training - but the quality of your natural voice won't improve. Conversely, your chords can get damaged due to an unhealthy lifestyle or illness. Sp, you're making valid points. My original point, however, was that the OP said "only 23" and that being 23 was not, in itself, remarkable. What was remarkable was her innate talent and voice. And her beauty and loveliness.
Whitney Houston was the Mike Tyson of singing in the 80s.. Undefeated!!!!
No vulgar, gyrating dance moves. No barely-there clothing. Just a woman, the music, a microphone, and her incredible voice. When you can truly sing, like Whitney, it's all you need. 👌🏻 Everything else is just smoke and mirrors to fool you into thinking someone had talent when they do not!
