Hi, very good to see a woman listening and feeling all the emotion that Rory Gallagher transmitted on stage, if a woman can capture this feeling it is because, almost always it will be true.Rory Gallagher was a musician above all "Emotional" besides being brilliant in guitar, still played Sax, Harmonica, Banjo, Fiddle, etc ... A true musician with roots, never let himself be taken by the vain ways of Rock, he preferred to continue Outsider, and to build an honest and spectacular career. America, unfortunately, you know very little, and I am sure that at each of your auditions, you will discover one of the greatest guitar giants of all time .... Listen to "I WONDER WHO" from the legendary album "Irish Tour 74" and be thrilled from beginning to end. ... And look, it's just an aperitif ... Greetings from Rio de Janeiro.

I saw Rory around 1991 when he was promoting "Fresh Evidence." He played a small club in Tempe, Arizona. There were easily fewer than a hundred people there. It's a crime that a guitarist of his stature didn't draw a huge crowd.

I saw Rory live in the early 70's. He should be remembered more. Everyone knows the other great guitarists I've seen in concert...Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Joe Walsh, others too. Happy to have finally seen Brian May just last year (finally!). Brian loved Rory & spoke of him recently & his admiration for him. I agree with our dear Dr. May...Rory Gallagher deserves more recognition.💙🌿💚

Gone too soon, but his brilliance lives on. His interpretation of the blues was so pure. Whether acoustic or electric his musical connection with fans was intense and sincere. Whatever he did touched my soul. Rory's band: The late Lou Martin on keyboards & late Rod de'Ath on drums who were with Rory from '72-'78 & Gerry McAvoy on bass played with Rory for 20 years.

When I saw them in 73, there were people who drove to the concert, when they pulled over at the service center near town, there was Rory and the band in the center as well, getting some food and some gas for the vehicles! People recognized him and chatted with him. Very real down to earth folk.

@@chrismcdonnell8297 I was indeed. A very memorable night. The grande finale of 'A Sense Of Ireland' Festival of Irish culture in London. What better way to finish it off too?! 😉 Al Kooper jamming with Rory and playing some Hendrix stuff. I've been hoping that someone will make the recordings available sometime (I've even asked Donal Gallagher about that too!) Yes, there was a bit of a party backstage afterwards followed by a taxi drive over to Richard Branson's club - The Venue (Victoria) for a jam session - Rory, Gerry & Ted with some other Irish guys . . . They had to turn the power off to stop them playing! It was certainly a case of 'Too Much Alcohol' that night ! ☘🍀☘ Edit: I was also at The Shepherds Bush gig in '76 that was televised for live broadcast on the OGWT. T Rory's 28th Birthday - they carried on playing far longer than was televised . . . Best gigs to see Taste & the R.G. Band in London were always at the old Marquee Club in Wardour Street - I loved that place! The last time I got to see him was 29th October 1992 at the ill fated Town & Country Club gig in Kentish Town (he was ill by that time) & it was very sad to see him that way too.

I was fortunate enough to see Rory live on 3 occasions. The first that got me hooked was at an outdoor festival a bike stadium in Frankfurt, Germany in 1973. The next two times were at a club called Mississippi Nights in my hometown in '76 and '77 or '78. Since no one had ever heard of him, I was able to plant myself right at the foot of the stage. Love your reaction to Rory. When Hendrix was asked, "What's it like being the greatest guitar player in the world", Jimi said, "I don't know, ask Rory Gallagher". Another anecdote, when Rory played The Isle Of White Festival he was only supposed to do 30 mins because Jimi was on next, yet Jimi Hendrix watching from side of stage told the crew to let Rory keep playing, Jimi loved Rory. Rory Gallagher's band Taste ended up playing for 1 hour and 13 minutes.

I realize this is a year old post/review and I've seen a few of your reactions re Rory. He was beyond brilliant, humble and a great, great bluesman. In case you didn't know, Rory played a mean saxophone as well. Saw him in Germany in 84 and 85. He is "by far" still my favorite artist. Contrary to what some may think he's sold 40 (ish) million albums and tons of material has come out in the past 5 years.... As his fans simply said: Rory,Rory,Rory!!!!!!!!!

Saw him live in 1985. It was a shock to the system...read: "ears". Apart from doing stuff on that guitar I have never seen before nor since, he was freakin' loud, man! There are so many golden moments with him, most of which are on youtube! you may want to check out "Shadow Play" from Lorient 1994, shortly before his untimely death. He was clearly sick at the time. Wild stage antics long gone, but BOY did he unleash a guitar solo for the ages! kzread.info/dash/bejne/oKeJrbl_m9C4pZM.html
